So the Major reason of approaching Professionals is to increase the level of Dance...

THIS!!!!!!!!!!

But i wonder why everyone fails to understand this! If JDJ was filled with immature dancers only, it would've been hell boring! Just imagine the seasons without Isha, Lauren and Shakti/TJ..it would've been snoozefest! Contestants like Lauren, Shaks, TJ takes the level of dancing/difficulties/challenges very high making the show much more entertaining to watch!

PS. I don't know whether you follow DWTS or not? The same happens there too, even in DWTS they always rope in 2-3 pro dancers to increase the competition level. And this very season, Olympic GOLD MEDALIST Ice DANCER Meryl Davis won with Maks.
Heck she's a Gold Medalist Dancer who competed with a girl with NO LEGS (Amy Purdy) but no one whined her victory cause she was the best dancer!

@Sugarfoxtrot - in DWTS , Juliana Hough , a Pro dancer went on to do movies and she was called back on the show to judge . Now if she who has trained alongside Mark and Derek was not called back to be a pro but to judge them , this was not because she had more dancing supremacy but because she was popular outside dance- her movies. Similarly Lauren did a movie ABCD and Shakti a daily serial . So they clearly branched out from their pro role and had their own identity. Hence they became more of celebrity than just Pro-dancer like Juliana or like Jen Grey - Baby from Dirty dancing is a Pro dancer but she was called as a celeb coz she ventured into movies too.

Mouni, is a trained classical dancer for years - would she be termed as a pro too? Sophie has expertise in Bharatnatyam , ballroom dancing from before - won't that make her a pro too?

The format is to have a diverse range of participants. They let audience connect with the one they feel a connection. Could be a dancer or a popular tv star. Thats the way it works everywhere. Marks are solely given on the basis on the capabilities of individual dancer.
