Old wine in new bottle... but the bottle is always interesting.
This is what I thought after watching the premiere of my most awaited show. The opening sequence captures the well-choreographed fight between the two male leads Vivaan (Kundra) and Vidyut (Dhanjani). But other than choreography what blows us away is the cinematography. This itself shows the amount of hardwork the team has put on. Kudos! Never once I thought that one lead is given more importance to the other. Nopes! The makers definitely seem to know how to keep the audience hooked by impartiality, they surely don't want to repeat the mistake which others do. Hence the fight was drawn without the result but with a premonition that one of them has to die! We however know that such thing is not going to happen. But another interesting question left is who is Avni's true love?
This is very well directed to a group of teenagers, presumably their common friends (Did I see Ashwini of Splitsvilla here? Woah!) Now here we are introduced to the broken threads of the story. Starting with Irawati. Honestly when I heard Ratan Rajpoot is chosen for Fanaah, my first reaction was 'have the makers lost it?' though deep down I know that Ratan is a fabulous actress, and today she just proved it. She is the star of the episode, right from the vulnerable widow being forced to commit sati with treachery to a scheming vixen, she has the right attitude and killed it. Special mention to her looks, she was far better than Kangana Ranaut in Krissh 3 in that black leather costume.
And when have story going fast paced in first fifteen minutes, I felt Anita's introduction as Preet in the palace alone took precious five minutes, which threatened to bore me.
And then, Mr. Pankaj Udaas' Aur Aahista song, and i thought i'm watching a show of supernatural genre. This again costed 5 minutes. And it I concluded, it was like Diwali Rocket. Starts of with fire and then God know where it disappears.
About the title of this post, this seemed like an old wine because there had been numerous shows which started off with dark scene and then proceed to light hearted scenes and swung like pendulum between the two. But what is interesting is the impressive star cast. Clearly it is not easy to cast for such a show, Karan Kundra - whom I have love since KMH-2 and after watching him in Gumrah and The Serial i knew he'd do justice to such a show, Rithvik Dhanjani - who had done a similar role earlier but didnt get much scope to explore being the antagonist, Ratan Rajpoot - she is the one to watch out, especially her promo 'mohabbat badi taakat hoti hai, par meri nafrat bhi kuch kum nahi' the aura with which she says, fabulous. Rest of the cast Chetna Pandey is cute, Anita Hassanandani undoubtedly is the most underrated actress in the industry, there is no role which she cannot carry off and Nakul Sahdev, from sweet Puru of Channel V Best Friends Forever to Fanaah, he is the one to watch out.
