I remember Colin Firth saying in an interview that to Darcy, just declaring his love was a major step. Given the fact that Lizzy was not on the same footing as him socially. He said most will not understand the romance behind his declaration, coz it seems rude, when he refers to the fact that they are not social equals, but STILL he is unable to suppress his feelings for her. He was willing to overlook all this because of his deep love. Knowing the type of man Darcy is, this is huge. To him, his love overcame every rational objection. That is what he said to Lizzy. THAT was the most romantic part to him. But Lizzy didn't understand the depth of his feelings. The journey he had to take to get to the point of confessing his love. It was truly very hot! :)

The same way, Aahil has come to a point where Miss Dabewali who he thought he despised has become the object of his desire. His feelings go beyond attraction and he KNOWS this. That is the reason he is in so much despair. He knows this is not one of those things he can just dismiss. He has tried and failed to overcome his feelings. I understand his desperation. Coz Darcy was in the same place. He tried and tried and finally gave up. He went to Elizabeth and told her that he NEEDS her.

"I beg of you most ardently to end my suffering and consent to be my wife"

If this is going the P & P way, then a rejection is the inevitable conclusion at this point. But soon all that will change and Sanam herself will acknowledge as Lizzy did, that...

"I didn't always love him, but now I love him most faithfully. He is truly the best man I have ever known".

You have described it beautifully, If they follow P&P seriously then it would be great to watch. I love Mr. Darcy and Lizzy.

Ahil's pride and Sanam's prejudice.
I've felt it from the beginning.

The class difference, the ego clash, the love, the denial, the hurt, and the part confession.

To continue, Sanam's thoughts after Ahil's confession in PP mode. Hope Sanam replies as lizzie below:

Her astonishment was beyond expression. She stared, coloured, doubted, and was silent. It is natural that obligation should be felt, and if I could feel gratitude, I would now thank you. I have never desired your good opinion, and you have certainly bestowed it most unwillingly.

Why with so evident a desire of offending and insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your will, against your reason, and even against your character?

Had not my feelings decided against you"had they been indifferent, or had they even been favourable, do you think that any consideration would tempt me to accept the man who has been the means of ruining me perhaps for ever?

Sanam was not prejudice against Aahil. Prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on any reason or experience. In her experience Aahil was mean to her, burning her dhabha, the challenges. When Aahil was nice to her, her opinions started shifting and she is still in the process of reconciling two images of Aahil.

Aahil does not pride. Pride is when you derive pleasure in your own self worth from any source. Everything Aahil does is family oriented and still believes it is not sufficient . Aahil is shown to be someone who does not like himself. He is shown not to care about his social standing or wealth. He does not care that Sanam is poor. What is he is confused about not how he could fall in love with a girl so below his status but how could he fall in love with anyone.

Omg, yes! I can totally see Aahil and Sanam as Darcy and lizzy.

Aahil is tormented now, he's attracted to this woman against his own will. Just like Darcy. But obviously they hated each others guts and were constantly on loggerheads from the beginning. Back then their intense hatred masked some of their slight attraction to one another. Similar to lizzy and Darcy.

When suddenly aahil's feelings changed towards Sanam, obviously she'll get confused. Because she wasn't concious at the moment when everything changed for Aahil-- that intense hug.

Loving this p&p parallel connection!

I have meant to reply to this post but I have been busy with FIFA and other stuff that it took me sometime to come back.

They are not of course true to P'n'P Darcy and Lizzie(which I am happy about) but there are characteristic traits that harken to them. While I would love to slot Sanam as Lizzie and prejudiced about Aahil (which I do think she is, him making out in the open with the girl in her village has coloured her opinion of him to a large extent and its understandable from her point of view), she also has a lot of pride. I would say both of them have an equal mix of pride and prejudice to them and it makes for great viewing. Time-tested love stories always work after all😳😆

Amazing post, agree with you, I am a huge fan of darcy too, true romantic ideal.
Now that you mentioned about Romance, another suggestion for hopeless romantic people, you have to watch North and South ( BBC drama) another epic, amazing story of Jon Thronton and Margaret Hale, its totally out of the world, story, music, direction and screenplay, acting..just amazing..
