The 8th annual International Indian Film Academy awards, popularly known as IIFA, were announced at Yorkshire on June 9.
Bollywood descended on the green carpet in Yorkshire for the IIFA weekend with the usual suspects - Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, along with a retinue of other faces from the Indian film industry.
The popular vote went to 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' and 'Rang De Basanti', which went on to bag the maximum number of awards including best film (Rang De Basanti) while filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani took home the best director award.
A R Rahman's musical genius got another boost with his upbeat score for 'Rang de Basanti' winning the best music award.
Tusshar Kapoor took home the award for Best actor in a comic role in 'Golmaal' and predictably it was Arshad Warsi who won the best supporting actor award for being Sanjay Dutt's sidekick in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'.
Saif Ali Khan bagged the best actor in a negative role for his character in 'Omkara'
Along with Soha Ali Khan in RDB, Saif Ali Khan won the award for best actor in a negative role for his effortless portrayal of Langda Tyagi in 'Omkara'.
'Omkara' also won a special award for the best literary adaptation by Vishal Bhardwaj for his adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, while the biggest award went to the IIFAs for getting together the biggest contingent from Bollywood outside India.
