Will take Aamir, Salman Khan in 'Andaz Apna Apna' sequel if they produce it: Rajkumar Santoshi

IANS | 19-Jun-2014 16:12 PM

Mumbai: Director Rajkumar Santoshi, who is working on the sequel of 'Andaz Apna Apna', says both Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are ready to work in the second instalment, and that he will repeat them if the they produce the movie.

Released in 1994 'Andaz Apna Apna' didn't fare well at the box office. But over the years it's funny one-liners, entertaining drama and melodious songs have turned it into an all-time favourite comedy.

When asked about casting Salman and Aamir in 'Andaz Apna Apna' sequel, he said: "It is not possible to repeat them in the sequel. It was a different scenario at that time but today they are big stars of the industry."

However, he is ready to rope in Salman and Aamir if they will produce the film.

"Although they both (Salman and Aamir) keep saying that they will love to do the film, so once I am ready with the script, I will discuss with them. I will be able to cast them in the sequel if they both will produce the film as it would not be possible to sign the two big stars to do the film," he said.

"They want the script should be good and full of comedy so the ball is in my court now and I have to get the script ready for them," he added while speaking at the first-look launch of 'Chaarfutiya Chhokare'.

However, he is working on the script with Salman-Aamir as well as young actors in mind.

"I am working on the script considering the two point of views. I am working on the characters keeping the age factor of Salman and Aamir and also youngsters. Let's see what comes as the end product," Santoshi said.

He is a good director, just coz few films didn't work doesn't make him flop director. Don't forget he has given Ghayal, Ghatak, Damini, AAA, Khakee kind of films.

Also, no one will bother his past projects - Aamir / Salman - in 1 film, sab ke sab yehi dekheinge.

santoshi seems extremely confused about aaa sequel.
his early official statement . i will never make a sequel to andaz apna apna, i had closed this chapter in 1994, and done with it.

his later statement . i will make a sequel to aaa but with all new stars.

latest statement . i will make it with salman aamir if they produce it.

santoshi clearly lost his magical touch..its evident from ajab prem ki... his 2nd comedy which was a hit but had no comparison with aaa.

i am highly apprehensive with the sequel and its quality.
request to santoshi...plz do not tamper with the classic and do not make a sequel. plz dont ruin our memories.

But Santoshi yet to give another RGV ki Aag or Yuvvraaj kind of films... He can pull it off. Kites was a huge flop, yet Basu gave Barfi, so flops don't make good director bad at once... Yes, if Santoshi will continue 2 give bad films, he will be in the league of above directors.

Smart move by asking one or both of them to produce the film. That way they won't charge a gazillion to work on the film, and the budget naturally won't go over 80-100 crores.

I would really like this film to work out but seeing Salman's film commitments it's unlikely he has time to shoot for Santoshi's film atleast in the next three years.
