The men, both clutched each other's collars as she shouted, "Stop it!"

"Hey, come on! What's this for?"

She asked astonishingly.

"For your sake, obvious-"

They started together, stopped in the middle, looked at her and then at each other.

"-Ly!" the man finished the sentence and looked at her uncertainly.

The grip loosened itself on both their collars. They stepped back and the situation changed yet again, but smoothly this time.

They both exchanged an apology and smiled.

"I'm Ravindhar! This is my-"

"Friend!"

"No! Not really!"

"Oh, brother?"

"More than a brother. He is my brother-in-law!"

"I see. I'm a police man!"

Within moments, the word swapping extended to a level which they did not expect it would.

"Indhar-ji!"

"We were going to the hospital!"

"I'm sorry, you were in some emergency..."

"Actually, we are going to see my sister's baby!"

She rejoiced as she announced proudly.

"Yes! We came here to shop for her, but once we entered we came to know that the baby had been born already! So we rushed our way out and-"

"Congrats!"

They came out to the road in fast strides.

"Aut-"

"Yeehh!-"

They both started laughing and forgot the eyes around watching them enquiringly and entered into the mall's compound yet again.

"Wait for me! I'll be back in a minute!"

She waited at the entrance for him to pick up his two- wheeler.

We are getting mad, after getting the phone call. That's why ma had insisted us to go for shopping instead of waiting in the hospital for the baby to arrive!' She smiled to herself.

She chose the house in the pinch of the moment as she saw a man at the doors. She turned toward the house with a dangerous angle.

He was ready to get out of the house. He picked up the keys from the teapoy and went to the doors.

He was going to close the outer door as he heard a shrieking noise and turned to see what the idea was.

She came running toward him and was shouting, this time, "Help ! Help!" for a change.

'Oh,No! not again!'

She thrust forward and dashed against him, but before considering the impact she reached the door and entered in.

The next thing she did was the real last straw!

She locked the door behind her and left him standing outside.

She reached the window by the outer door and moved the curtain aside and peeped out for something behind him.

Then he heard the dog coming!

Once it entered the compound, searched for her in vain as she was concealing herself behind the doors.

He was standing there on the steps, watching the drama silently.

He decided to deal the dog first!

He crossed his hands against his chest and looked the dog. [You know what an intense look does to us, usually.]

The dog did not need to be reminded twice.

As it felt weak for a fight now, since the chasing (?!), it changed its mind and retreated back, swearing 'May be next time!' to itself.

Once it set foot onto the street, she opened the door in a flash and came out.

"Wow! Now that was something! You know, I can't believe this!"

"----"

"Oh!- I'm really sorry. I didn't realize that I was entering into some one's house!"

"I see!"

"You know, I too know that trick, but-"

"But?"

She started looking at the ceiling suddenly.

"What's that?"

She lowered her eyes and looked him.

"A flash back! Don't you know? See there!"

She again started staring the ceiling. He smiled and was waiting for more.

"Actually, we were, my friend and me," She went from her flash back yet again, to explain him that.

"Going for shopping, my sister and the baby have come to home from the hospital!,"

She looked him, but this time he was seriously looking the ceiling, she smiled and continued, "So- we've arranged a function for the naming of the baby, so- we came for shopping.

"She told about some ice cream parlor here. As we went there, we saw the dog coming. She took a step back in fear and I told, See Preeti! Dogs can smell fear, so don't retreat!' But unfortunately, the dog came forward a step and then two, not knowing my saying.

"She started running and I had not much choice but to run. At the street corner we had to change our paths. You know, there was a truck parked at the wayside. She, who had a head start in the run, easily crossed the road and kept on running, I had to change the direction to escape from the dog's mouth. And God! You saved me at last! Thanks!"

She laughed nervously.

"Do you need some water now?"

"No! Not really!"

"I've to see in which street she is running now!"

He suppressed a laugh and was watching her as she fished her hand bag, as a conductor would do while giving you the change.

She was searching for something, sincerely.

He peered at the bag and asked out of curiosity, "A 'GPS'?"

"More like that!"

She replied and found her cell phone at last.

She cut the call and turned to him," You know, she stopped running once she came to know that the dog was not on her trail!"

"Did she?"

"She is now in some juice shop, sipping something, just two blocks away!"

"Right!"

He said and turned to lock the door yet again.

She was standing still there, he got that after she said,

"You know, it's just two blocks away..."

Her voice trailed off.

"Yes, I know! You said so!"

He replied with a spark in his eyes.

"If you please, can you walk with me at least up to the corner? I know I'm disturbing you! But still- I don't know-"She mumbled.

"Right! But I've to go fast-"

"I can walk-"

"To the speed of my jeep?"
