Ahhh she screamed in pain as a hand tried to hold her down. The pain was excruciating but she knew it was worth a happiness of lifetime. She could bear any pain for this happiness. A faint cry reached her ears and she fell back on the bed with the smile on her face. Her vision was blurred but she could see through her tears, her small angel. Pink face smeared with blood all over the tiny body and the small hands trying to touch the air. Her baby..

Congratulations Geet, it's a girl. The doctor said handing the baby to the nurse. She couldn't take her eyes off the baby, she was just like an angel. An angel who was the reason for her existence.. With her angel's face playing in front of her eyes, she closed her eyes giving away to the darkness that took over her.

A hand touched her arm and she heard the faint cooing again. With a smile she opened her eyes and looked to her side to find her angel right next to her. Geet looked up and smiled at her mom through her tears..

Ma.. She chocked on her own tears.. Her mom smiled at her and wiped away the tears that were at the corner of her eyes. Her hands trembled in anticipation as her mom cradled her angel and placed her tiny daughter in her waiting arms.

Hey baby.. Geet cooed holding her tiny baby close to her heart.. As she did, the tears ran down her eyes. She had got her reason to live, it was her daughter. The one whom she had been waiting for the past 9 months was finally here, in her arms. She placed a soft kiss on her small forehead and much to her joy, a small smile crept up her angel's lips.

It was the beginning of a new relation.. A relation of a lifetime.!

4 Years Later

Mumma.. A scream broke through the house making Geet roll her eyes. She looked at her mom who was sitting at the table sipping her coffee..

The princess is up.. Now watch her drama.. What will I do with this girl ma.? Geet said preparing the breakfast. Her mom laughed hearing her words.. They sat quietly looking at each other knowing any moment the devil would be coming down with puffed cheeks and a red nose. Geet laughed to herself..

Nani.. Another scream followed the first one. Rano laughed again hearing her naughty little granddaughter scream for her. She looked at Geet expectantly only to see her shaking her head..

Khushi princess is up, why isn't anyone listening to me.? Came her magical, honey like voice. Geet looked at the stairs to find her tiny little devil standing on the stairs with her hands on her waist, with puffed cheeks and red nose. A giggle bubbled up her lips but she controlled it knowing it will only make her devil angrier. Upon getting no reaction from either of her Naani or Mumma, she glared at them and walked over to the kitchen slab. Geet who was watching her from the corner of her eyes couldn't help but laugh..

Does no one remember that it's Khushi Princess's birthday today.?? She said with a pout. All her anger vanished. Geet's heart clenched at the sight of her angel's fallen face.

Mumma.? Mumma forgot Khushi Princess's bday.? Naani .. She said with fat tears running down her eyes. Geet face fell as she saw her angel running towards her Naani with tears in her eyes. Rano opened her arms for her tiny baby to run into her arms and hugged her tightly when she came running into them.

Nani..See..Mumma forgot my bday..She said sniffing with the tears still flowing down her eyes while she tried to wipe them away..

How can that be possible Khushi beta.? How can your mumma forget your bday.. You mean the world to her.. Rano said wiping her tears and placing a kiss on her pink cheeks.

Naani, is right.. How can mumma forget her baby's bday.? I think Khushi princess hasn't seen the huge gift in her room which Mumma had kept for her baby. Geet said taking a seat beside them.. She saw her angels eyes light up with happiness at her words. She looked in Geet's direction with twinkling eyes. Her heart beat in happiness looking at that smile on her baby's face.. Khushi clapped in happiness and jumped out from Rano's lap and jumped onto Geet making her fall back..

Ahh baby, be careful.. Geet quipped as she fell on the ground taking Khushi along. She laughed as Khushi hugged her kissed her all over her cheeks.. Rano smiled in happiness as she saw both of them giggling in happiness...

Khushi loves mumma..Khushi loves Mumma.. She quipped happily while kissing Geet continuously. Geet held her and placed a kiss on her cheeks..

Happy Birthday baby, now at least go and see your gift. Then tell Mumma how it is.. She said trying to get up with Khushi wrapped around her. Hearing her words, she saw Khushi jump up and run up the stairs... Rano was watching both of them in awe suddenly felt her eyes go moist. After facing all the hurdles with a smile, her daughter had the happiness on her face...

Will you tell her.? Rano asked as Geet sat on the chair in front of her.. Geet looked at her mom in surprise as her mom had brought up the topic after a long time. She didn't need a clue to guess what Rano was hinting at..

What's the need ma.? She hasn't asked till today.. Why tell her something she doesn't even know about.? Geet said sipping her coffee..

But she will ask someday Geet, what will you do that day.? Rano asked in a careful tone knowing that the topic always ended up in a heated argument.. Geet looked at her mom and sighed..

Then I will tell her the day she asks, for now I have her and she has me and you.. Is there any reason for her to not be happy.? I am happy and I make sure she is.. Then what is the need for someone else.? Geet said getting irritated with the conversation..

I know beta, you both are very happy with each other. But a day will come when she will want to know and that day you won't be able to hide it.. Rano said in a serious tone knowing their conversation was about to reach the high point..

Ma, I know.. Geet started to say when Khushi's scream halted their conversation.

Mumma..mumma..mumma..Khushi loves it..Khushi loves it..Pinky Dress.. Princess dress. Thank you Mumma.. Khushi said running down the stairs and running into Geet's waiting arms.

Mumma is glad baby loves it. I love you so much baby.! Geet said placing a kiss on her forehead. Khushi pulled her down and placed a small kiss on Geet's forehead with her soft pinky lips.

Khushi loves Mumma too! She giggled and hid herself in Geet's arms. Geet caressed her soft curls and looked in Rano's direction with a fallen face. The topic Rano had brought up was bothering her now. She knew Rano had a point and Khushi would ask about it someday; her father. A tear was about to roll down her eye but she quickly wiped it away..

Mumma, can I wear the princess dress to school today.? I will show it to all my friends saying Mumma gave it to me.. Khushi said looking up at Geet. The innocence on her face melted Geet's heart.. She smiled and nodded.

But Princess has to be careful with her ball gown, will she be careful.? Geet asked making Khushi grin widely. She cutely nodded and jumped out Geet's arms and stood in front of them with her hands on her waist..

Mumma, don't disturb princess now, Princess getting ready for school. Khushi said running away leaving behind a smiling Geet and Rano. As Rano watched Khushi run up the stairs she opened the magazine she was reading and had closed the moment Khushi had arrived.

You said you will tell her about it when she asks, but if she asks for him what will you do.? Rano said placing the magazine in front of Geet. Geet looked back at her mother with irritation when her eyes caught the magazine placed in front of her. It had been 5 years and still her heart skipped a beat at that face. Her eyes scanned the photo and she could feel the tears rolling down her eyes. With trembling hands she picked up the magazine and let the tears fall. She was seeing him after such a long time. Though she had never thought of him unless in her arguments with Rano but it was no she realized that her heart still remembered him. Her heart broke into pieces as she threw away the magazine into the corner. It was because of this goddamned photo her mom was having this conversation with her early morning.

We don't need anyone in our life ma, no one.!! I have told you this so many times, please dont make me say it again and again. She said and grabbing her jacket she walked out of the house with the tears still rolling down her eyes. Loving him was the biggest mistake of her life but Khushi was the biggest happiness of her life and she wouldn't let any memory from the past take away that happiness. If forgetting her past would keep her baby happy, she would erase every memory of her past. She had never mourned over her past but she knew she had the memories deep down in her mind somewhere. She wouldn't let the darkness of her past overshadow her daughter's happiness.

She sat on the sidewalk panting from her tiring jogging session. Every time she would think about her past, it would only make her stronger. She had learnt to move on, only couldn't throw the memories of her past out of her life. It was true that the same past had given her Khushi and she couldn't churn them out ever.

Geet..how come you are sitting here before your usual time.? A voice broke her painful chain of thoughts. She looked up to find Siddharth grinning down at her.

What else.? I was waiting for you to finish, I wasn't in the mood to run another half an hour today. If you want, you can finish up.. I will wait.. She said with an obvious expression.

I surely would have stayed here as you just said but I don't want to die. Your baby will probably be sitting on the dining table with puffed cheeks and a red nose, all ready to have me as her breakfast. As it happens, I am always late to meet her. Siddharth cribbed taking a seat next to Geet.

And as it happens, like always you have forgotten her birthday too. Geet said coolly to watch the color drain out of his face.. His expressions were worth a million dollars,

Damn, damn, damn, I forgot again.? She is going to kill me today Geet, I swear I am dead today. He said getting up to his feet and running away. Geet laughed seeing him run along the road. Well he was Siddharth Verma, her baby's sweetheart and her colleague from work who fortunately for Khushi and unfortunately for her happened to be their neighbour.

She walked into the house prepared to see an angry Khushi and a cajoling Sid. As she walked in, she laughed seeing the situation. It was exactly like she had imagined. Khushi was standing on the dining table with her hands on her waist while Sid was on the ground doing up's and down's holding his ears. She was counting with her barely understandable numbers and he was doing it dutifully.

Geet, seriously how can she be 4, she is just like my daadimaa.! My parents haven't punished me as much as she did.. Sid said cribbing looking in Geet's direction. She controlled her laugh and started making coffee when she saw Khushi point her little finger in his direction.

Chup. Khushi ma'am says no talking in punishment. 20..30..60.70.. She kept on blabbing making Geet laugh. She walked over to their side and sat on her knees pulling Khushi to her side..

Baby, what are you counting.? What has happened to your maths.?And why are you torturing your sweetheart early morning..? She said laughing at Sid's plight who was still doing sit up's.

No sweetheart. Mumma, he forgot my bday.. She said pouting in her direction and glaring at him. Geet looked at him to find him pleading her, to save him.

Baby, leave all this. You don't want to show your new princess dress to Sweetheart.? Go quickly wear it and come down.. We will take a picture too..Come on quickly go.. Geet said and Khushi glared at him one last time and ran up the stairs..

Phew, thanks a lot Geet. Your daughter is going to kill me someday. Sid said grabbing the coffee she kept on the table.. Rano looked at them with a smile on her face. She had a dream to see them together as a happy family with Khushi completing it but she knew convincing Geet would be impossible.. She had brought up the topic many times but Geet would simply leave the conversation every time..

Sid, you only make her understand na beta, how long will she live in the past.? I don't know how to make her understand.. Rano said and the cup stopped an inch from Geet's lips.. Her head snapped in Rano's direction and she glared at her mom..

What to do aunty.? I have asked her so many times to marry me but your daughter just doesn't accept my proposal.. What can I do.? Sid said making a fake sad face. Geet held her head in irritation..This was a daily drama.. She just sat there listening to them until she lost the bit of patience she had in her. Anyhow her morning had been dreadful after she saw his picture and now this..

Enough.! I am done with this discussion..Can you two please not have this conversation anymore.? That too while I am here.? I am fed up of your daily lectures every day, get it both of you.? Sid, I can't marry you. Mom, I am not marrying anyone.. Ever.!! I am done with any or all relations that come my way.. She said and grabbing her keys she walked out of the house leaving behind a sad Rano and Sid. They looked at each other apologetically for ruining her mood. She sat in her car and drove out of the parkway of her home, with a thousand thoughts clouding her mind. A tear rolled down her eye and she quickly wiped away. Life had taught her to be strong and one picture of him wasn't strong enough to break her.. She wouldn't ever.!!
