Actually, thanks for bringing that up.

Yesterday Star Krishna said that - he is Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. I knew that they may add this line of him being the Trimurti, because ISKCON tradition are based on this.

My question being - Did Lord Krishna 'really' say this in Geeta?

But the concept of ParaBrahman was endorsed by Adi Shankara.

Star Krishna has totally taken it out of the context.

In the BG, Lord Krishna has said it in a different sense all together.

He doesn't directly say I am Brahma / Vishnu / Shiva, etc etc if that is what the serial showed.

What Krishna actually says amongst a group of entities, whichever one is best among them, His is present in that. His glory is manifest in everything that is superlative.

A small background:

After listening to Krishna's awe inspiring words about Gyana, Dhyana, Karma and RajaVidya, Arjuna realizes that the Krishna he always thought of as his "friend" may actually be someone greater.

Earlier on, in the the third (or perhaps the fourth- my memory fails me) chapter, Krishna says that he had taught this Yoga to the Sun himself and Arjuna, rather jokingly reminds him that he and Krishna have lived on this Earth for only so many years, while the Sun was present from the first moment of Creation. Lord Krishna calmly informs Arjuna that there never has been a moment when he had not been present in this universe.

Similarly, after many such upadeshas, Arjuna gets a realization that his friend - turned - sarathy- turned - guru may not been an ordinary man after all. Perhaps not even a man at all. Could he be a God? Narayana Himself??

In the beginning of the tenth chapter, Arjuna asks Krishna to list his own glories, his own greatness.

Krishna replies by saying that wherever something is present that is wonderful, opulent, majestic, great, it is only a manifestation of his own powers

In this context, Krishna says that among the Adityas, He is the Sun, among the rudras, He is Shiva, among the weapon wielders He is Rama, among the war commanders, He is Kartikeya.

Amongst the syllables, He is the OM, amongst the meters, he is the Gayatri chanda etc etc...

Amongst the light producing celestial bodies, which one is the most important ? The Sun. Hence Krishna says "jyotisam ravir anshuman"

Among the Devas, who is the king? Indra. Hence Krishna says " Devanaam Asmi Vaasavaha"

Amongst the senses the mind is most powerful, because, it controls the other senses, hence the Lord says "Indriyaanam manas asmi"

Amongst the rudras, Lord Krishna identified himself with Sankara, amongst the Yakshas with Kubera and amongst the Vasus with Agni.

Amongst the mountains, which one is most famous? The Himalayas. Hence the Lord says " Sthavaranaam Himalaya asmi"

Basically amongst any group of entities, whichever one is the greatest , Krishna identifies himself with it.

It is not to prove that he is greater than others or others are not equal to him.

Rather, He is everywhere.

The newest Shloka i learend is from the 18th chapter ---

"Sarva Dharmana Paritajya Mamekam Sarnam Vraja
Aham Twa Sarva Paapebhyo Mockcheyi Syami Maasucha "

I get this gist of it -- Krishna is asking that we discard all varieties of Dharma, and take refuge in him and not to be afraid -- He will take away the burden of all our Sins.

Here, Sthavaranaam means constant or immovable.
Thus,he states that he,in the constant and immovable things, is the glorious Himalaya himself.

And regarding the mountains, the Shloka is:
Meru Shikharinamaham

Which means among the peaks and mountains,I am Sumeru.

Correct me If I'm wrong. 😊

Among the Adityas,he is Vishnu... (Aadityanamaham Vishnu)
And among the lights, he is the Sun with innumerable rays. (Jyotisham Raviranshuman)

^^^ You are right. I should have been more careful with the use of words while translating.
But I did get the quotations right 😛
