Here is an interpretation I find easier to understand:

Arjuna: O Krishna, Lord, you are talking in paradoxes. You recommend two paths. On one hand, you recommend the path of selfless action, and on the other hand, you recommend renunciation of all action. Tell me plainly now, which is better?

Krishna: Each has its own merit, and both lead to the same goal. But the path of selfless service is better. The wise see no difference between the renunciation of selfish activities and the performance of one's duties without attachment to the result. They are the same. So whoever is truly practicing one path will receive the benefits of both paths. The goal is the same for both things, they become entangled in what they are doing, hoping always for a specific outcome. But those who are aware see the same self in a beggar that is in a king, a cow or an elephant. They are not excited by good fortune and not depressed by bad fortune, because they no longer depend on the things of the world for their support. Through their practice of meditation, they focus attention on spiritual awareness and discover me as the peace at the center of all things.

Duryodhan, in response to Krishna states somewhere

Tyaya hrisikesh hridisthiten, yatha nijuktasmi tatha karasi

Does anyone know where he says that
such a profound philosophical statement of duri is not very common in MB, so posted it here.

Hi...
im no way near to a scholar but i can attempt addressing your queries...
Humans..or rather manushya jeevan is the highest form of living on Planet Earth...they are endowed with an intellect and a spirit to understand and thereby carry out the godly work...
animals..etc too have god inside them but somehow they are not as greatly endowed as humans...

abt animals getting mukti..well god takes care of them in this own ways...

abt why god made Universe..such questions are beyond human comprehension..as krishna says..ishwaar ki leela usi pe chod do!... The answers to these questions are the sublime Truth..and god himself is the truth.,purn satya...satyam shivam sundaram...,getting near to him is reaching to the truth..and one can get near him only thru apaar bhakti..dyaan..devotion...

@moderator...
the title of this thread is mis-leading.. "discuss" the BG? gita is not something to discuss on..its everything to "devote on"... thats the fundamental diff in approach which the Preface to the Gita brings to light...
if one approachs the Gita with an inquisitve mind...as in discuss/debate/etc one will never be able to understand and thereby imbibe it..instead the minute u change your fundamental mindset and approach it as a student with a "bhakti bhaav"...surrendering yourself...thirsting for the truth as a student and treating the Gita as ur Guru will u be in position to enjoy its each verse and be able to understand it...
its only devotion that will lead one to enlightenment...

it might seem a tiny issue..but trust me..i say it from my personal experience...it makes all the difference!
and hence reading the Preface is always a must.

so it should rather be: Let's devote ourselves to "S.B. Gita"...
(also why use "the SBG"..?..only S.B.Gita...when using "shrimad" no need to use "the"...either : the B.Gita or just: S.B. Gita)

thank you..

@Lumos,
While making this thread I had the same thought. Can we actually discuss B G? The answer is mainly no but there is a bit of faith in some members whom I know, are actually capable of throwing light in this Ocean of Knowledge. Along with other members who are keen on exploring the possibality of understanding BG, through this show. It's the attempt that counts. That's how the topic got this name, "Lets duscuss The Shrimad Bahgavd Geeta".
I do belive BG can be discussed with "self" first. That's the first step. While reading one starts finding answers of their problem, things starts getting clear. Here our mind is unconsciously discussing BG with the book containing this great knowledge. While reading Durga Saptashati, worshipping the book is recommended, as it contains the great praise of Ma Durga. Simillarly the book made of paper carrys the shlokas, translation, commentary, talks to the reader. The reader trys to understand, interprete depending on his/her understanding, which is discussing only. Considering all these pts this topic has this name.
The, is added as a respect & I wish to retain it.
Thanks 😊
