Hey guys. So I'm not sure how many of you watch these American pageants. So yesterday I was randomly going through the contestants of the Miss. USA pageant to be held on June 8th. Representing Miss. New Jersey is a 19 year old contestant named Emily Shah. And then I just started jumping up and down proud she was Gujju and a Shah. 😆 Being a Gujju myself I know the struggles and difficulties for us to be in a field other than the standard (doc, engineer, IT). I mean look at the Bollywood industry? How many stars are Gujju? And out of all of the Gujju stars how many are on the top? Not many. So I got excited seeing her as Miss New Jersey. On Sunday she'll be looking to take home the crown in the Miss USA 2014 pageant. And though I'm not from Jersey, my vote for go for her. Also I saw from her instagram post that her whole inspiration to going into pageants comes from Sushmita Sen. Apparently they knew each other when she was in India or something along the lines. She has a picture with Sush and all as well, but because of privacy matters I am not sharing it.

A little background info straight from the Miss. USA wesbite:
Emily will represent the Garden State at Miss USA. At a young age, Emily was immersed into acting & dancing, studying at prestigious institutes in NYC, LA, & Indian such as; Lee Strasburg, NYFA, Madumati's Bollywood, & Princeton Ballet, to name a few. Subsequently graduating high school, Shah partook in several opportunities within the entertainment industry. After working with the stunt team on "Captain America 2", she landed an assistant job to Clint Eastwood on "Jersey Boys". Emily then moved on to working with the stunt team on Liam Neeson's "Run all Night". Her current project is "Fast and Furious 7" as an assistant to the stunt director. She hopes to work on action films and says her dream job would to become a "James Bond Girl" or the next Agent Salt. Speaking Hindi & Gujarati fluently, Shah wouldn't mind a crossover in Bollywood & Hollywood! Emily is the youngest Miss NJ USA & hopes to bring the crown home to NJ for the first time!

FUN FACTS

  1. 1

While working on Jersey Boys, Clint Eastwood asked her to be his body guard for the day.

  2. 2

Can fluently speak two Indian languages, Hindi & Gujurati.

  3. 3

Great grandfather was an advisor to Mahatma Gandhi.

Though Emily has never been to Gujarat, she is now looking forward to a visit here. "My great grandparents were from Rajkot, but my father C P Shah moved to Nagpur and was one of the founders of RSS. He later moved to Mumbai. I started my company Bollywood Hollywood Production in 1999 in the USA. My team has worked with the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Rakesh Roshan and Karan Johar," Emily's father Prashant.
