So far the story is very well though of and very detailing has been going into this. but Dev;'s side of story seems so much more glitched to me. If you are an Indian citizen you donot DONOT need visa to get back to India. any day you can come back to your country. 2 years back in 2012 or 2011. Goenka's have their power only in their city they are not Indian presidential family, so if dev wanted to come back he would definitely be able to come back.

I can understand if they showed a passport issue or his passport getting lost/ stolen and Indian embassy taking a long long time to reissue his passport, but apart from that this visa part was so dumb for me.

You are right! Like someone had mentioned before his entry seemed so forced. I just can't seem to connect to his character. Its like he is giving excuses for not being in India..i can't seem to relate to it at all. Also, it would have been better for Durga to have a flashback of her childhood with Dev so that we as an audience understand who he is. All of a sudden she has a best friend? 😕

I'm glad that someone mentioned it! I was asking myself the same thing regarding his problem with the visa.

And I think, Durga being smart like us, knows that there could have been no other reason than being on his family's side that Dev did not show up.

I guess Dev is US born. In the intro Dev and Durga Dev's mother tells Dev might have seen Durga in US as he did his schooling there.

Durga is shown as a girl bought up in US. That is the only logical issue I see in the Visa issue. If you are an US Citizen unless you give away the citizenship there you cant have Indian citizenship. So he needed a Visa.

yep that could be possible, but then how is he nitya's childhood friend. It seems like they were really close and have been playing around a lot, and Nitya gave him that pendant and all only when he was going abroad to study. it looked like he was going for the first time for so long.

again all guess, the point with Dev is they dont clear anything, leave it on the audience to do the guess work 😕

There seems to be a few loopholes in Dev's story.

The visa part being one of them and the other is after two years his conscious start to bother him to come and investigate his best friends disappearance.

He is starting to investigate the whole issue and he finds nobody wants to help him because of the Goenka's fear and Dev does not think that his family had anything to do with the whole case.

Why does he not just go to the Newspaper Archives and see how the whole thing was covered by the Press. He does not think it is odd that as a Goenka himself WHY no one gives him any help while they all seem to bow under the other Goenka's.

Yes, there are too many unanswered questions to really add up to his suddenly coming back and getting this urgent need to see what happened to his friend.

Really. Dev's entry leaves more questions than answers. Maybe he was born in the US and did part of his schooling there. But again, like you mentioned, when Nitya gave him that pendant he was talking about the US in such fond sycophantic tones and was telling her that he couldn't be back before 2 years at the very least but maybe never.

I mean I guess he was teasing her but hello, he's from the most powerful family of Kolkata, he could come back to Kolkata every other day. Probably not everyday because of the long flying hours. 😆

He might have been in US as a child , I mean something like primary education and came back to India. We dont know how his father died. But the way Suchitra says it happened very early in his life. maybe they relocated after his dad's death.

So the memory might be vague and every young man has American dream and when he is a citizen there and you can reach there easily.

That might be the reason Dev just says I had seen you somewhere. you cant place your primary school or middle school friends that fast.

So even if he had come to India at 10 or 11 still he is a child and could have met Nithya. This is what I see as of now.

But more things are needed to unravel about their friendship for sure

I agree on your part that Dev cannot have visa issue to come back to India if he is an Indian Citizen. But the story could be other way round too. Actually, I'm an Indian citizen living in the U.S. on F1 student visa. And here if any student's VISA is expired they can still live in the U.S. legally until unless they have a valid i20 (which means a document issued by university to the student) but THEY CANNOT TRAVEL to their country and IF THEY DO they need to get their visa RENEWED for which chances are very less to get. Same thing goes on with Work Visa (H1B) too.

So in DEV's case, I'm not sure that in the serial he is shown as a indian citizen or a U.S. Citizen but if he is shown as a indian citizen then he might be scared to travel India because he will not get U.S. visa again.
