Maan.? Her voice came as a mere whisper to his ears. Maan tightened his hold on her hands and shut his eyes tighter. He couldn't hold his feelings back anymore.

He died because of me Geet. But it's also true that I am in love with you and I can't live without you. Maan confessed with tears sliding down his eyes. His words pierced through her heart like a thousand needles, killing her every second. She looked at his face, his eyes were tightly shut and his face turned away from hers; he couldn't face her. Her body was numb with shock; she couldn't feel anything but the pain his words had left on her heart; a pain that might last forever.

Geet simply stood there staring at him as his words sunk in. Her mind refused to register any of the words Maan was saying. Geet held his collar tightly and make him face her.

Maan, what are you saying.? You.. Killing.. Papa.. Why are you doing this.? You want me to go away from you, I promise I'll go away from you and I won't come near you again or even ask you anything about your past but please don't say all this. You.. Papa.. No, stop it please.! Geet sobbed shaking him and resting her head on his chest. Maan felt as if someone had kicked him in his guts, she still trusted him. After all the things he hid from her and all the pain he gave, she still thought he was only pretending to push her away himself. Geet sobbed holding on to him, her heart simply refused to believe that Maan could do any such thing, he was her world and she just couldn't believe that her world was breaking into pieces right in front of her eyes and she was helpless.! Maan felt disgusted with himself, it was her unconditional love for him which was still making her trust him. Maan held her hands once again and tired to look at her but she didn't leave him and clung to him.

I love you Maan, I promise I won't ask you about anything again, please say whatever you said was not true. Maan please, I can't bear this.! Geet sobbed continuously holding onto him. Maan felt his tears touching his cheeks, her sobbing was unbearable for him. Those 3 words coming from her were his ultimate solace, but he also couldn't bear the pain she was in. Maan held her tightly and made her face him.

Geet please, don't make me feel more miserable than I do, I don't deserve this trust. Maan begged and shook her trying to get her out of the shock. Geet simply started at him trying to read his face and all she could see on his face was, guilt and pain. Reality finally sunk in, he wasn't making up anything, it was she who was denial. Maan felt her suddenly go limp under his touch, she had finally realized the truth. Tears streamed down her eyes and a sob escaped her lips. Her feet gave away and she fell to the ground.

Geet.! Maan tried supporting her but she was oblivious to anything. Maan saw her broken state and closed his eyes in pain. He had broken his promise yet again, he had broken all the promises he had made, to himself, to Geet and anyone who had cared to love him.

Maan... Papa... Maan.. Papa... Maan.. Papa... Love Maan.. Papa.. Killed him... Maan.. Geet sobbed with heavy sobs escaping her lips. Maan instantly went down to his knees in front of her, helpless at her broken state. His heart ached to pull her into his arms and comfort her but did he have the right to comfort her when he was the reason for her pain. He watched her hugging herself closer and sobbing and he just couldn't bear the sight of her breaking apart. Maan grabbed her into a hug and felt her shaking with the sobs. Geet could feel his heartbeat as his heart violently beat against her ear. Her mind and heart had given up, only shock controlled her senses. The pain of heartbreak, the pain of her shattered trust churned her heart. The only person she trusted more than herself after her parents had left her, was him and even he had left her broken. She could feel his tears wetting her shoulder,.

Geet, I hate myself for it. After my parents died he was always there for me, supporting me, but my one mistake cost me everything. I never meant to make that mistake but my life had always been cruel to me. Even if he did forgive me, I haven't forgiven myself for the mistake I did. Even Daadimaa forgave me but I can't forgive myself. Geet I... Maan cried holding her but all she knew was he was the reason for her losing the only person she had after her mom died.! She pushed him away and crawled away from him.

Don't come near me. She said hugging herself closer.

Geet, I... Maan felt himself going limp, it was exactly what he dreaded; Geet hating him. He kept staring at her as she cried, trying to hold herself together. Geet looked at him in disgust and ran into the washroom, shutting the door behind her. Maan who was lost in her thoughts was broken out of his thoughts when he heard the door crashing into the frame. He immediately ran to the door and called to her.

Geet, please open the door. Scream at me, hate me, slap me, do anything but don't walk away like this. I know I have broken you and your trust but please say something. Geet please.. I never wanted to hurt you but I haven't done anything but hurt you time and again.. Geet I... Maan pleaded against the door but he could hear nothing but silence from the other end. Geet heard him pleading at the door and his painful voice broke her even more.

Maan, please go away. Just leave me alone. Geet sobbed from inside. Her words were clear, she didn't want to be near him. With a heavy heart and tears clouding his eyes Maan backed away from the door and left the room. Geet heard the door lightly close and she knew he was gone. Pain slashed through her heart and she sank to the ground with uncontrollable tears streaming down her eyes. His one truth had changed their life, just as he had said. Nothing was the same anymore. Why had fate played such a cruel game with her, the very person who at one point took her only world now meant the world to her. She couldn't even imagine herself living without him, but she also couldn't forget what he had taken away from her. As the sight of his tears came back to her, she hated herself more, she still couldn't see him in pain. The cold water from the shower cascaded down her body, soothing her skin but nothing in this world could sooth the pain in her heart.

Maan entered his study and slumped himself into the chair, resting his head on the back. Tears streamed down his eyes thinking about her pain. He had never imagined himself to be so madly in love with her and all this turning out to be the way it did. He had promised Mahesh uncle that he would never leave her wide and ever tell her the truth, but how could he cheat her by hiding the truth from her when his heart had started beating for her. At this point, he couldn't deny his feelings, yes he was in love with her and his heart didn't allow him to cheat her. If she ever found out the truth later, she would only feel he cheated her. Was he wrong in telling her the truth. Everything he ever did had caused her pain, and it was all over now. His heart knew nothing would remain the same after her learning the truth. The thought itself broke his heart, but he realized it was the only this could end. He had already given her a lot of pain, she was free to choose anything for herself. He could only wish for her to be happy.! Maan felt a hand on his shoulder. He opened his eyes to find Rohan standing in front of him with a coffee.

You told her..? Rohan asked handing him the coffee. Maan took the cup and nodded. Rohan took the seat in front of him and tried reading his face.

You love her so much Maan, I can see it in your eyes. Even though you aren't burdened with the truth but your eyes show how scared you are, you are scared to lose her. I'm really happy that she could atleast make you open your heart rather than suffering in silence always, she finally brought back our Maan. Rohan said placing a hand on his shoulder.

Yes Rohan, I love her. I love her very much and I am scared to lose her. But I haven't given her anything but pain. I could see it today, I could see the hate in her eyes. This is what I feared Rohan and that's what's happening. Why does life always has to be this cruel to me.? Maan said in a painful voice. Rohan felt bad seeing Maan in pain, his words were true, life had always been cruel to him. Seeing his vulnerable state, Rohan pulled Maan into a hug. It was all Maan needed to breakdown.!

Maan, just have faith. You have also suffered and you have faced enough pain in your life. That one incident affected you as well. You won't lose her. I know how much she loves you, I have seen it in her eyes. You both are meant for each other, don't let her go Maan. I know its not going to be easy but dont give up.! Rohan said trying to calm down Maan.

How can she love me now Rohan.? After knowing I was responsible for her father's death, she will hate me and I think I saw that hate today. I saw it in her eyes. I am scared Rohan, I can't bear that. It's better I let her go than seeing her hate me. Maan said breaking out of the hug and walking towards the window.

Just give her some time Maan, she has just learnt such a big truth. It will take time for her to cope with it, don't come to any conclusion yet. How can you even think of letting her go.? You won't be able to live without her Maan. Rohan said with anger evident in his voice.

I have learnt to live without the ones I love by now Ro.! This is how my life is supposed to be.! Maan said in a sad tone. Rohan sighed and looked at his back.

Stop it Maan. Dont start with your usual nonsense now.! Let's not discuss this now, how is she.? Rohan asked making Maan turn. His expression and the pain in his eyes was enough to answer him.

She said she wants to be alone. Maan said walking out of the room when Rohan called him back.

Where are you going.? Rohan asked.

She asked me to go away but I can't do that.. I can't leave her like that..She is in pain. Maan said and walked out of the room. Rohan stood thinking about Maan, how much more would he have to face in his life.? A tear rolled down his eye as the past came flashing in front of his eyes.

Maan entered the room and found it empty. Just as he was about to go out and search for Geet, he heard the shower running. His heart leaped into his mouth when he realized she could still be in there. He strode towards the door and banged on it for her to open it.

Geet, please open the door. Geet.!!! He screamed but all he heard was the shower running followed by an eerie silence. Fear gripped his heart as he tried to break open the door. As Maan barged into the bathroom, he spotted Geet lying unconscious on the ground with the shower water running.!

Geet, are you mad.? What have you done.?? Open your eyes. Please Geet.! He said taking her into his lap and trying to wake her up. Tiredness and paleness was evident on her face. After all the crying, she lost her consciousness. His heart clenched in pain looking at her condition. Maan picked her up in his arms and brought her out of the washroom. His hands stopped midway as he reached for her saree but keeping his mind off what all happened and he quickly dried her, covering her with a blanket.

She is fine Mr.Khurana. Just a bit of fever because of staying under water for too long. You found her at the right time, a delay of a few more minutes could have made things worse. Don't worry she will be fine, I have given her sedatives. She should regain consciousness by tomorrow morning. Mr.Khurana, she is emotionally under shock and stress, please take care of her. She needs it. Doctor said and left the room leaving Daadimaa worried. She walked towards Maan to enquire about Geet.

Maan, what happened now.? What's all this.? What happened to Geet.? She asked turning him around as he stood facing the wall. The pain on his face and his tears shocked her to no limits. She didn't need to ask anything else to know what could have happened.

You did the right thing bte. She deserved to know the turth. She will be fine, don't worry. Daadimaa tried consoling him by wiping his tears away. Maan immediately stiffened hearing her words.

But she is in this condition because of me Daadimaa and she knows the truth too, how can anything be fine now.? I want to be alone for a while Daadi.! Maan said in a painful voice and left the room leaving a heartbroken Daadimaa behind. She looked at Rohan who only came and hugged her comforting her. All her children were suffering, the only thing that bothered the most was, would her Maan ever get his happiness.? She looked at a pale Geet, lying unconscious on the bed and a tear escaped her eye.

After spending a dreadful evening in his study in his effort to stay away from Geet Maan entered the room to find her still unconscious. He sat beside on her bed and looked at her, it scared him to be near her afraid of how he might hurt her next. Tucking a lock of hair behind her ear, Maan held her hand in his.

I'm sorry Geet, I'm sorry for hiding all this from you. I know I have hurt you a lot today, but watching you like this, I'm not able to bear it. I promised him that I wouldn't leave your side ever, how could I tell you the truth.? He made me swear on himself that I wouldn't tell you the truth may be because he knew you wouldn't be able to take it. I had no idea my idea would betray me and I would fall in love with you. I never wanted to cheat you Geet, I told you the truth and now whatever you wish will happen. I didn't kill him intentionally Geet, it was a mistake which cost me everything. I can't ever forgive myself for that one mistake, and I will never expect you to forgive me for it. Everyone forgave me for that mistake, which I never deserved. I may have broken your trust Geet, but my love will always be true. I only wish for you to be happy now and if it's at the cost of loosing you, I'll happily let you go.! Please be all right soon.! Maan cried holding her hand and mustering up his courage he bent down and hesitantly placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Unsure of when he would ever be able to touch her or be near her, Maan placed another kiss on her forehead and rested his head at her side holding her hand in his. Maan watched her all night long, drinking in her face, her beauty, her innocence and most importantly the love he could see in her eyes, the same love which he felt in his own heart, his unconditional love at the cost of his unbreakable vow.
