Yea but that's the point, media corporations should not have to follow government regulations.
If geo have a history of reporting false information, which basically makes them a tabloid news outlet, a proper inquiry should be made into it. They should be taken to court and an independent court should decide the companies fate, not the government.

The government going in all guns blazing, blocking the channel across Pakistan, and forcing the channel shut is counterproductive. Government and journalism should always be separate. As long as the government is allowed to control and regulate journalism Pakistan can't even begin to recuperate. Like I said, Pakistan is a broken state and that's by and large because the government controls everything.


When the US elections were going on several American papers accused Obama of being (1) a terrorist and (2) raised in an extremist madrasa. The papers were not gagged or forced out of business.

In the UK the Leveson enquiry is ongoing, and one Murdoch paper went out of business because of it, however the government was in no way involved in shutting that paper down. It was shut down due to bad press from other British papers, and news channels.

If the government is allowed to control independent corporations you basically have a mellow dictatorship in power.


If geo have done any sort of unethical reporting (and from what you guys are saying it sounds like they have) that should be dealt with by the courts.
The ISI also has a very merky reputation, they have done a lot of illegal things and need to be held accountable if Pakistan is ever going to move forward.

Its not like that if u think someone is responsible, u start blaming them without proof for 15 hours and u r blaming the country's intelligence agency and army. This is height of irresponsibility. there is an audio type available. forensic analysis say it is not manipulated. In which hamid mir is talking with taliban to kill some isi and army officiers . Geo also showed some video of a person who said that attack on mehran base was planned by army after questioning the officials of geo said, "v showed the footage so tbat army deny it". What kind kf reporting is this? Isn't is a try to defame ur army. U better know that who tries to defame army of a country. A friend or enemy.

i support pakistani government to ban all the media geo or any other that tries to defame our national institution and play against the interest of pakistan should be banned forever.

I agree freedom of expression comes with responsibility my point is, the government should be completely separate from all types of journalism. If a news outlet is not adhering to journalist ethics they should be held accountable by the courts, not the government. Basically what I said in the post above, please read that.

I love the drama but once a week is better.
