We all listen to songs and absolutely fall in love with their lyrics or their music. There are many components to why we love one particular song. Most common is lyrics.

How important are lyrics in a song?
Is it the lyrics or the singer's presentation which touches one's heart?

Just imagine your fav song, without that singer singing it. Wud it be the same? Wud you still enjoy listening to it? Or imagine your fav song with totally different lyrics. Lyrics that didn't suit the song at all. Wud you still like the song?

If that path is cracked, or broken, the song will not have any tune that you can hum. And it will not be a song you want to hear again and again. If that path is smooth, then we hear a wonderful song. And this goes for both fast, and slow music.

A lyric makes a song better/deeper.

But you don't buy an album for the lyrics otherwise you would buy a poetry book. It is the lyrics, Voice and music that finally makes the song best. And in my opinion the composition is bit more important part here.

But again both need to go together. At times while trying to determine whether the lyrics or the music is more important in a song (especially really great songs) I found that you really need to have them both to appreciate it

Singer's performance cannot reach the heart if the song lack good score or lyrics. Just a good voice cannot do anything. In a song it is the lyrics that we relate to.So for a song to be likes a good combination of lyrics, voice and score is required.

Imagine you want a pearl necklace. Assume lyrics to be the pearls. and composition to be the string that collects the pearls and makes it into a necklace that you cherish- in this case it is the song.

It is the most important thing..If the lyrics has some feelings then it can take the song to heaven. We wont like a bad lyrics even if the music is good.

The importance of lyrics depends on the targeted audience.

1. remember the song 'nimbura' , where Ash danced. well, the lyrics that says, " lemon , I'll bring you small and green " is fairly a pathetic one. But the song was a superhit. Because of Ash , her dance and the tune.

2. "kabhi kabhi" lyrics was done by Javed Akhtar and it was a superhit also, they song was fetured at a poetic movie and the song met the audience's desire.
