Calling all vocalists and musicians!!

Listening to music nourishes your soul - sure - but singing a song, feeling the lyrics and the emotions within you and unleashing those emotions with your voice is a whole new level of soul nurturing.

And you don't have to be a gifted singer to enjoy music in this way.

There's a whole breed of people called bathroom singers that exist simply because they have felt this deep, deep soul penetrating enjoyment when they experience music while singing along, or even dancing along.

But this is a singing thread.

We are excited and proud to host this thread for you all to showcase your incredible talents and gain appreciation and accolades, but also, most importantly, have fun and connect with fellow music lovers!

Like the song by the band Travis goes...

The love you bring won't mean a thing

unless you sing, sing, sing, sing.

So go ahead, share your voices singing anything at all - a bhajan, a pop song, a regional song, a Bollywood number, a classical music piece... any language, any genre, any era.

Make sure to tell us what song it is, and give a link to the original.

You are welcome to post original compositions as well.

You can collaborate or post solo pieces - it's totally your call.

If you play an instrument, you are welcome to post instrumental pieces too.

You are allowed to post links of your song recordings from

Vocaroo, Starmaker, or Smule.

Please try to post ONLY audio links.

If you do choose to share videos of yourself, please remember you are doing so at your own risk and India Forums is not liable for any copyright infringement or other legal issues, personal data leaks, doxxing or any other fallout of sharing personal details on here.

You can record with backing tracks, or just your raw voice - either is allowed.

You can be a beginner, a bathroom singer, or an accomplished artist - we won't judge you, nor will we compare. Each of us is unique in our right, and music brings joy to everyone, right?

IF CoC will apply at all times, so songs with expletives or explicit lyrics will not be allowed keeping in mind the rules for Adult content.

Make sure you don't post any personal information on here such as email address, phone number etc.

You are welcome to post appreciation and remarks on the songs posted, but please refrain from idle chatter. For that, we have the Music Chat thread.

India Forums is not liable for any personal data leaks that occur, and we encourage each one of you to be mindful and responsible for your online safety.

If you have any other Qs, feel free to shoot them at us on the thread. If not, go ahead and begin posting!

How to record your voice

Vocaroo: This is an online voice recorder. You don't need to download any app or create an account. Just go over and start recording. This will only record your voice though. No backing tracks are available.

Starmaker: This is a popular app that you have to download, & create an account to be able to record your voice. It does provide backing karaoke track, and requires you to plug in your headphones to dismiss any ambient sound before you begin recording your voice. It's easy to use if you want to collaborate and sing along with a backing track, but the limitation would be that your pitch would need to match with that of the track provided.

ETA: Starmaker does allow you to make some adjustments. It works best if you use plugged in headphones/ earphones with your phone.

This post explains some of it.

For a detailed tutorial on how to use StarMaker, please refer to this thread generously created by NathuPaapi.

Smule: Another Karaoke song app that allows you sing and collaborate with other singers online.

YouTube: Audio or video files uploaded on YT.

Any other online recording app/ social media post provided it allows embedding a link that's easy for users to click on.

Wow! This was indeed an awesome rendition. This song is full of betrayal and pain like you said and Asha Bhosle imbues so much of it in her voice, plus the tune by OPN is so heart-wrenching! smiley19 Deeply poignant in more ways than one.

Excellent job. Hoping to hear more from you on this thread!

Thanks so much Lizziesmiley27Sadly this was their last collab toosmiley13Ashaji and Nayyarsaab parted ways after this movie compositions and Ashaji refused to even be present for this award winning song. Nayyarsaab collected it and flung it from the bridge on his way back home. Hence the pain and intensity is so live in this composition.smiley13

Yes I know hence why I said this song is poignant in more ways than one. Even more unfortunate that Asha Bhosle influenced the producers to have this song removed from the movie smiley13 so now we don’t have a screen version of it smiley13
