I think Kaira is the one who has the most potential to become the next Avantika. She is after all her niece. Preeti is too impulsive. But I think Kaira could prove to be more mature. I think with Avantika's guidance she can surly become another her. Vikram did acknowledged that Avantika can turn Kaira into someone like her, coz she is "smart and intelligent" just like her aunt.
Hats off to Kaira. Like Avantika said to Harish, how long will they keep giving into Vikram's demands and letting him use the fact that they are from the girls side? She asked WHY do people think that once they marry their daughter off that those people have done them a "favour"? In fact WE have done THEM a favour by marrying her to their family, coz they are the one's profiting from it.
I am not Indian. I am from New Zealand, but my family is originally from Sri Lanka. But in my culture, we would consider it an insult to take money from the girl's family to resolve issues in a guy's family. I am sure there are some shameless people who don't care and do take money from their in law's. But generally speaking it is looked down on.
If everyone REFUSED to give into these demands at the outset, then these things don't continue to happen in countries like India. I just DONT understand this concept of treating a daughter like a burden? I know I have lived most of my life in a western country. But I am still from Asia, and I know that in some Asian countries this is NOT the case. We don't all think that daughters are a burden. This is a VERY old fashioned view. These days most girls are very educated and have their own income. So HOW are they a burden?
I went to university and I got an education. I worked for 11 years full time until I recently quit coz now I have two small kids and I want to give them more time. But for a long time I had my own income. Now we have a household income. But even tomorrow I can go and get another job or find a way to have income of my own. That is why a girl being educated is MOST important.
But India really needs to get with it. The country has progressed SO much in the past 50 years! Turned into an industrial state and a business hub etc. It is time to give the mindset a re think as well! When you see people even from educated and sophisticated backgrounds behaving this way... What can you expect from village people with no education??
My comments are not indented to cause offence. They are merely an observation I have made over a long time of seeing this sort of thing happening in India.
