BUT There is no need of constant comparisons and putting Sid-Varun up against e/o just cos they debuted through same movie.Alia said Sid is proud of Varun and the fact that his movie beat both HTP & Highway..so there is healthy camaraderie why run it?

second,I wish article has also noted the points MTH had 500+ screens more than HTP.Yes opening was affected by cricket match so was HTP's run affected by big budget masala movie Gundey which released a week after..HTP had Parineeti,but MTH was directed by highly successful David Dhawan whose masala comic flicks have always been welcomed by the masses.I heard even his Chasme Badoor without any star presence was a hit.HTP was directed by a newbie while MTH has flowerpots like Illeana and Nargis as female leads(which are -ves)...so this comparison is basless given the movies are different as chalk and cheeze.More apt comparison will be HTP Vs Humpty Sharma ki dulhaniya (a dharma romcom with popular heroine) (though I still maintain there is no need to pitt these 2 againts e/o and create a media war)

Well done to both films especially MTH! 😛

MTH had that cricket weekend + 2 not so popular heroines but it had David Dhawan.
HTP had a popular actress, Dharma productions banner but it had a new director.
Both the films have their advantages and disadvantages but even films like Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, Jai Ho and Krrish 3 were compared.

And unfortunately, whether we like it or not these 2 are always gonna be compared in the initial stage just like how Deepika-Sonam are compared but now Deepika has moved into a totally different league in terms of BO success and those that debuted with Ranbir or close to Ranbir's time like Imran - they're in a different league so it's gonna take time for them to stop being compared with each other or it might actually never change. I'm sure both Varun and Sid and unke fan log will co-exist peacefully 🥳
