Part 8

Morning brought another big surprise for Geet. Finally the third roommate did arrive and she was no stranger. She was Parineeta chopra aka Pari. Geet did not know how to react. After all she was Yash's girl friend and that means she is also the reason for Meera's pain.

Pari watched Geet. She had heard a lot about Geet, Meera, Sid and a certain Armaan from Yash. She knew about Geet's pain. It is not easy to let go of someone who had given you so much to remember. Pari smiled uncomfortably and said," Hello Geet."

Geet:" Hello Parineeta!!!"

Pari: "Oh, please call me Pari. Parineeta is a big name."

Geet smiled and then they let the silence take over. One side Pari was a dear one of her friend Yash yet she is also the cause of hurt for another friend Meera. Pari knew it would not be easy for Geet to even bear it with her.

She picked the middle bed and settled down.

Naina came out of the washroom at that precise moment to provide the much needed distraction. She smiled at Pari and said in a sweet voice," Hey, I am Naintara. Naina for short."

Pari: "I am Parineeta, Pari for short."

Naina: "I hope you met Geet. She is little serious types I feel."

The comment would have felt rude except the innocent laughter of Naina ringing round.

Geet could not help but smile as she said slowly," Trust me Naina, I am far from being serious.I know Pari already. She is also from my college."

Naina gave a cheeky smile and said," Lucky you dude!! You got someone you know."

Pari: "Naina, sometimes it is better not to have any one you know. It gives you a chance to let go of old things and embrace the new. "

Geet looked at her. Pari's eyes did not have sympathy; it had just empathy for her. A silent understanding passed between the two who were neither strangers nor friends. Geet thought that may be Pari is not that bad after all. After all Yash did not fall for her for nothing.

Naina could feel the underlying tensions between the two and said," Guys, why don't we visit somewhere? I mean we would hardly get time after the training starts."

Geet smiled while Pari nodded enthusiastically. So the three girls of different nature started working together in the new city.

Geet opted for a simply sky blue T shirt with Black jeans. She had tied her hair in a high pony and took a black scarf to cover her face in case it gets too sunny. Pari wore a pink top and blue jeans. She clutched her hair together and pulled a very cute look. Naina wore an off white to with capree. She let her unruly manes open not bothering to tie them. But the question was where to go to. Geet did not really know any place and Pari was clueless as well. Then the girls decided to go near the gateway of India. They got into a cab. Geet was watching outside getting the fill of Mumbai. They passed by the side of Jehangir art gallery and art museum. Geet spoke out loud about it when Pari spoke up," Hey Geet, you love painting right? I remember you again own the first prize in the inter-college competitions this year?"

Geet said softly," It is just a hobby."

Naina announced," We are going in there."

Geet: "But what about you guys? You are not interested, are you?"

Naina and Pari smiled looking at each other. An easy comradeship had formed between them. They got down and after paying for the cab Pari smiled at Geet and said," I won't pretend that I understand the art of painting Geet. But I don't mind watching some beautiful paintings while you get lost in hat world."

Naina piped in and said," Come on, I might get a hot dude to flirt with!!"

Naina winked naughtily. Geet said bewildered and said," But you are engaged right?"

Naina smiled naughtily and said, "Off course, and as much as I am in love with Dev it is no harm appreciating the scenery."

Naina is not someone you can be mad at. She had something about her that just makes her your own. They three entered the gallery. It was a different beautiful world of colors. Geet got lost in watching the paintings. It was as if a dream come true for her to watch the works of eminent painters from so close. Geet smiled a beautiful smile.

Armaan: "You know I am so jealous of these unknown painters."

Geet: "Don't be silly Armaan."

Armaan:"Look at you Geet. You are smiling as if you have won the world. And some faceless stranger is the cause of this sweet smile."

Geet: " So?"

Armaan: " Geet I want to be the reason for your smile. I know it is kind of chauvinistic but I want to be the reason behind your every smile."

Geet smiled a cute smile. He looked so cute with that pout it made an unknown part of her heart tug. She was proud to be his love.

She shook her head a bit, tip toed and kissed his fore head when she felt no body is noticing them. Armaan was surprised. His Geet was never into PDA. She took his hands in her and said," I love to get lost in this world because I know you are there with me to hold my hands Armaan. You don't need to be jealous of these faceless strangers because it is always you who makes me happy."

Armaan gave her a dimpled smile and said," I love you Geet Handa and I want you to stay this way forever."

Geet said," I love you too dear."

Pari kind of understood Geet suddenly going into trance. She had heard enough from Yash to understand Geet. But she let Geet have her moment in silence and led Naina somewhere else.

Geet was back to reality knowing Armaan would never come to stand beside her and admire her enjoying paintings. Armaan in fact would never come back.

At the spur of moment Geet felt like running away from the gallery. The world of paintings which once used to feel her with aesthetic pleasure today was bringing out heart aching memories. But Naina and Pari had accompanied her to make her happy. She won't be ruining the day for Naina and Pari.

Geet walked determinedly not to be reminded of the past. The past won't be ever coming back to her and she won't let it ruin her present anymore.

They took hours to complete all the floors. Finally they went and had their lunch at a subway outlet. All the three girls were smiling and laughing over random topics. Geet and Pari had an unsaid bond. They are cordial with each other but they hardly converse.

Once they were done with Lunch the Girls walked along the streets looking through the various road site stalls. Three girls together so shopping was inevitable. After the whole afternoon spent in shopping spree they reached the Gate way of India. It was an overwhelming feeling that gripped Geet. She had seen this place in many bollywood movies yet standing there was entirely different experience. They came to know that they can go for a half an hour boat ride.

All three of them got the tickets and sat on the deck. It was the best time with the sun having set already and the cool breeze. Watching Mumbai lights from the sea and the Taj shining in the light in all its glory was a different experience altogether. All of them were chirping merrily but in a moment of silence Geet whispered more to herself," Armaan, I wish you were here with me."

A far away soft murmur of her memories came back to her; I love you too Geet. Don't miss me. I am always there in your heart. You will find me in the drizzling of rains, soft murmurs of winds, vast expanse of sea. Good bye dear.

This had been the parting words of Armaan , a bit poetic to pacify her hopeless romantic self then. But it had been the crude reality of her life. She closed her eyes and Armaan's smiling face popped out in her mind.

She opened her eyes to find Naina watching her curiously. But she did not ask her any questions. This was one quality of Naina Geet had grown to like in a short span of time. Naina never pries or asks unwanted questions.

Once back to the shore they had their dinner at a restaurant. They together ade thir way back to the hotel room. Once back they were busy with themselves getting ready for the first office next day. It was a nice Girls day out. Geet settled down once she took out her dress for next day and arranged her bag and documents.

It was then Geet suddenly realized she should do some back ground studies about the company she is joining next day. She took out her Laptop and goggled Khurana Enterprise. It was having so many results; from the high share price details to latest projects and undertakings in hand. Geet read about the history. It was started by a young aspiring man, Yashwanth Singh Khurana who had travelled to Delhi and had set the foundation of the Khurana constructions. It was his hard work that made this company a reputed one. He married a young painter from a very elite family, Savitri. Their love marriage though was first opposed by her family but later was accepted. They had two sons, Raj and Rohit khurana who had worked hard to turn Khurana construction into Khurana enterprise. After them presently MK and his brother was taking care of it.

Geet was amazed at the amount of information she got. So the painter Savitri Devi she had admired half he life was a khurana . There were also some images but she had too much information in her head already to check out that one yet. If she had she would have been surprised in more ways than one.
