Barun who had become a superstar thanks to his iconic character Arnav Singh Raizada, a Mills&Boonish hero, had Bollywood dreams like every TV bigwig. His debut film, Main Aur Mr Right, co-starring Shenaz Treasury was supposed to have hit the screens in 2013, but it found no takers and is in the process of being shelved unless a miracle happens. His second film,22 Yards, on which Barun had pinned a lot of hopes and had even toned up, flaunting abs and a stubbled look, going into detailing about the character he was playing is also complete, but reportedly is yet to find distributors.

Barun had also reportedly been offered a weekend thriller show to be produced by Gul Khan (the producer of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and Qubool Hai) for Star Plus and was among the contenders for Karan Singh Grover's replacement in Qubool Hai, although, he neither confirmed nor denied the news. The latest buzz about the actor is that he has been roped in to play the male lead in John Abraham's next production, Satrah Ko Shaadi Hai, directed by TV scriptwriter Arshad Sayeed, co-starring newbie Sapna Pabbi, (last seen as Anil Kapoor's daughter in the mini-series 24 that aired on Colors in 2013). The film's a love story that's being shot in Bhopal and has National School of Drama graduates in supporting roles.
Will Barun finally hit pay dirt and be able to make a splash in Bollywood like his peer Sushant Singh Rajput, or will he eat humble pie and return to TV like Ashish Choudhary, is the billion rupee question.

Really happy Barun Sobti is teaming up with my good friend John Abraham for #SatraKoShaadiHai - trust me it will be a great film. #dreamteam
Telugu actor Harshvardhan Rane, who is making his Bollywood debut with John Abraham's upcoming production "Satra Ko Shaadi Hain", says he is excited and pleasantly surprised to be launched in this way.
"I'm excited as well as pleasantly surprised to have got this opportunity to be launched in Bollywood by John, who is known for introducing new talent. He did that in 'Vicky Donor' and has continued with his latest project," Harshvardhan told IANS.
"They have had me in the scanner for a long time but things materialized only now. I believe in John and the work he produces as a producer. It's a Bollywood debut I couldn't have ever asked in my life. I'm extremely happy," he added.
"Satra Ko Shaadi Hain", which has gone on floors, also features television actor Barun Sobti. It is being directed by Arshad Sayed.
Harshvardhan feels the love of his fans landed him this project.
"I know I got this opportunity because of each and every person who asked me when will I go to Bollywood. Somehow their wish went into the universe and this became possible," he said.
"I'm a believer of the concept secret. Sometimes I think it's what others wish for you more than what you wish for yourself," he added.
The actor was earlier supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela", but he let go of it.
"I was asked to dedicate 10 months for a small role in the film. I finished three Telugu films during that time period. Bhansaliji once told me that I should choose the right films and I applied it to his offer only," he said.
He is currently awaiting the release of Telugu psychological thriller "Maaya".
