My personal preference is a seasoning of each angle keeps the entire story alive and more expansive. That aside, there are any number of topics, such as the one you mentioned, that could be positive on the story and slipped in on the side.I for one would like some social angles on the side . Their can be a wonderful adoption track incorporated in the samraat- maitheli track.

The fact that the show is built upon border tension/conflict, is in itself a social issue. I think they will be compelled to focus on varied themes, which might be derived from such issues. But we can't really expect a thorough treatment of it because the show is based on a love-hate theme.
I would love it if they can make it socially relevant. It is the need of the hour. But I'm not complaining if they don't do so.
