Chapter 3

"Wow Antara! Are you for real? Raghu asked you to be his partner?" Maya asks, surprised.

"Yes he did. And I see what you were talking about, he is really good looking," I say.

"Not just good looking, he's extremely hot," she replies.

"Ok fine, he's hot. There, happy?" I ask sitting down on the bed.

"What are you going to wear?" Maya asks, opening up my closet.

"What do you mean what am I going to wear'? We're rehearsing. I'll just wear leggings and a t-shirt. It's not like we're going on a date or something," I say.

"You're going to be with Raghu... it's nothing less then a date babes," she says.

"Come on, he's taken. I don't want to destroy anyone's relationship. Besides, we're only dance partners, nothing else. Get that in you head Maya," I say.

"Fine." She sits on her bed and I do the same. We move on to another random topic, forgetting about Raghu.

"So Bhai, did you find a partner?" Mach Mach asks as we walk to our room.

"Yes I did actually. I think she's new at the academy, I've never seen her before. She wasn't on your list either," I say, unlocking the door.

"I didn't know that there was a new girl, is she good?" he asks.

"She's perfect, exactly the girl I need," I say.

"Better than Rukhsana?" he asks.

"Of course not, no one can be better than her, she's the best dancer here at the academy. No one can beat her," I say, turning to look at him.

"Just asking," he says.

My phone rings and I look at the screen and see that it's Rukhsana calling.

"Hey baby, you feeling better now?" I ask.

"Much better, the doctor said I can leave the hospital tomorrow so I'll be back at the academy the day after," she says.

"But you can't dance so what's the point of coming?" I ask.

"So that I can meet you," she says. "By the way, did you find someone to rehearse with?"

"Yeah, it's some new girl at the academy. Her name's Antara."

"Oh. Well, it's good you found someone, I should hang up now, Mom is coming."

"Bye."

"What did she say?" Mach Mach asks as soon as I hang up.

"She said she's coming back here in two days," I reply.

"Is that good or bad?"

"I don't know. I mean I'm happy she's coming but if she sees me and Antara practicing, she's going to become her jealous self whom I don't want," I say, sitting down.

"Then what are we going to do?" he asks.

"You're going to keep her distracted whenever I have practice with Antara.

"Why me Bhai? She's your girlfriend," he says.

"Because you're my friend and also just like my little brother. You'll keep her distracted right?"

"Yes Bhai."

"Good. Now help me find the CD with the song. Rukhsana gave it to me and if she finds out I lost it, I'm screwed."

"Maya, come on. Stop obsessing over Raghu. I'm tired. I want to sleep," I say as I lie down on my bed.

"But Antara-" I cut her off before she can say another word.

"Maya, no more discussions about Raghu. Leave the poor guy alone and go to sleep." I turn around and face the wall and close my eyes to fall asleep.

"Rise and shine Antara! Get up now otherwise we're going to get late!" Maya shouts from the bathroom. Ugh. Had I really been sleeping for this long? I look at the clock and see that it's 8:50. Classes started at 9. I jumped out of bed and ran around the room, picking up random clothes to make an outfit out of it.

"Maya, did you turn off my alarm?" I say, running to the bathroom.

"Nope, I think you forgot to turn it on," she says grabbing her bag. I hurry up and take the quickest shower ever, brush my teeth and wash my face. I had no time to do anything to my hair so I just grabbed it and tied it back.

"Come on Antara," Maya calls and I run out and pick my bag up off the ground.

"Lets go," I say and we run to the studio.

"We made it," I say. We leave our bags in the change room and then go to the studio to warm up. We were going to do some ballet today and I was really excited. I loved ballet.

Where is she? I told her to meet me here. I look at the door once more, waiting for Antara to show up. Where was she? She was 10 minutes late. I was just about to leave when I heard her voice.

"Sorry, sorry I'm late. Maya needed to get something from our room and she dragged me with her. I'm sorry."

"Relax, breathe. It's ok," I say. She smiles and looks around.

"So it's only the two of us?" she asks. I smile and nod and head to the stereo. I select the song and turn to face Antara.

"You wanna hear the song first?" I ask.

"Sure," she says and I hit the play button. It was an upbeat song; one that had taken Mach Mach and I a long time to mix but we had finally gotten it.

"It's really good. Have you decided the choreography or not?" she asks.

"Well Rukhsana and I had just started working on the choreography when the accident happened, so we haven't gotten all of it but the beginning is done," he says.

"So you mean you need my help to finish the rest?" I ask.

"Yeah, that would be awesome!" he says.

"Sure why not. But can you show me the beginning bit?" I ask.

"Yeah sure, come here," he says.
