CHAPTER-18.

Shlok could not believe what he was seeing..Was that really Astha standing infront of him..?!

His traditional goody goody two shoes wife?!

Shlok blinked once again,and again studied her slowly from bottom to top..

His eyes once again took in the perfect black stilettos,the stockinged legs exposed till mid-thigh..And then her black short dress that exposed more of her creamy skin through the lacy material starting from just above her rounded bosom to the long sleeves..

The round deep neck also showed a lot of her cleavage than he wanted to be shown..Her hair for a change was not open,and tied in an elegant chignon and long matching black earings dangled from her ears..So much of her smooth creamy skin exposed was already making him hard with need,and he tried to control his raging hormones.

She had also put on very light make-up..It was only her eyes that looked darker,deeper and wider,and her lips were touched with a hint of a rosy red and a soft pink at her cheeks..

Shlok gulped,trying to fight a gnawing need and jealousy that simultaneously built up within him..Suddenly he did not want anyone to see her like this,and wanted to lock her up in the room with himself ofcourse.And strangely he already missed the traditional person she was,and wanted her back..He now could not understand why he had wanted a modern wife,when just at the sight of her in that dress made him want to cover her up immediately..He did not want any other male eyes to see her in that..She was only his after all..

But like always his wife seemed to have an all new plan for him..

She raised her eyebrows questioningly,and softly said..

"Shall we get going..?"And before he could reply or walk,she started walking perfectly on her stilettos,and reluctantly he followed her..

They were almost near the party area when his eyes finally took in her back..

His eyes widened in shock,and he nearly carried her away back towards their cottage..All of her beautiful creamy back was exposed by the cursed dress..All of it till the small of her back,and her tied up hair left little to the imagination..

He had just decided to grab her and carry her away,when suddenly his friends appeared and greeted him..

Shlok helplessly greeted them with clenched teeth,but he pulled Astha into his arms too..He was not ready to let her leave from his side even for a second during the Goddamn party..

Fate like always had something completely different planned for him..

He was forced to dance with his friend Smitha,the host,who was married to his another college friend Varun..

But his eyes kept seeking Astha out,who was sipping a drink she had been handed by someone..Finally the dance had stopped and he was about to leave to be back at her side,when Smitha pulled him back and insisted on another dance..

Shlok was so lost in keeping an eye on Astha that he did not notice Smitha trying to crawl all over him,and plastering her skinny body clad in a skimpy red party dress,too close to his..

But unfortunately Astha did notice..

Astha was so irked that she did not even notice when she grabbed a drink from a passing waiter that it was alcohol..

And by the time she sipped it and felt the liquid burn her throat,she did not want to stop..Today she wanted to be as daring as she could be..

She had just had enough of her so called husband's ignorance for one day!Today she would live her life freely for once..Free from all inhibitions and all bindings..

So she drank the whole glass of wine,and then another..And she was reaching for the third glass when someone asked her to dance with him..Astha noticed it was some other friend of Shlok's,and went forward to dance with him..

Why should she sto[ herself from having fun..

The guy pulled her close,and noticed Astha's constant stare at Shlok dancing with Smitha..

"Forget about them Astha vabi..They are college sweethearts..Before Varun,she was Shlok's girl frienn,and the entire college used to talk about it!"His words fell like a slap on Astha's face..

And suddenly she felt numb all over..

That's why she was so close to Shlok..No wonder they were dancing like lovers now..Maybe they had been lovers too..In the true sense of the word..

When the dance was over Astha excused herself from the guy and numbly walked away..

She grabbed another glass of wine from another waiter,and with a gloomy face walked to the edge of the party,which was taking place close to the beach..

She was about to stumble when she realised her stilettos were digging into sand,and so she removed them and threw them on the ground,not really caring where..She had come far from the party..And in naked feet she walked the beach,as the sound of the lapping waves and roaring sea came closer..

She did not know why she was feeling so down..But she was..The memory of that skinny woman draped all round Shlok made her heart squeeze painfully,and suddenly she wanted to scream out loud to the world..To the heaven..

Why did she feel so lonely all of a sudden..?She did not know..

She was lost in thought as she walked ahead,not realising she was going closer and closer to the sea..The sea which had gone wild,as thunder split the sky giving warning of an upcoming storm..

But Astha was past caring..

Water now lapped at her feet and sprayed at her face..She was feeling dizzy now,the effect of the wine taking its toll on her finally..

And suddenly Astha wanted to get deeper into the sea..It did not matter the waves were unusually wild,a storm was coming,and it was almost pitch dark,and to add more to it she did not even know swimming..

But she did not care anymore..She just wanted to..

She stumbled and struggled to keep her balance as the waves reached upto her waist..She took in a staggered breath,and looked up at the heaven..

As if seeking help from there..And without thinking she walked deeper into the water..

A huge wave was coming,and suddenly Astha realised what a dangerous position she was in,since the sea had become wilder than ever..

She gulped down a knot of fear that had risen too late in her throat..

The sea water all around her was pulling her down..She struggled to stay on her feet,but it was getting impossible..And the huge wave that would surely drown her was coming closer still..

Astha closed her eyes to get swept away into oblivion..

It never happened,as she was suddenly picked up in a pair of strong arms,and turned around just when the wave hit them..

The person holding her stumbled,but did not let her go,as he started walking towards the beach carrying her in his arms..

Mesmerised Astha stared up at his hard handsome face,and suddenly the sky opened up and it started raining cats and dogs..

They had reached the beach,but he did not stop..Carrying her in his arms he walked towards their cottage,and Astha sighed and relaxed in his strong arms..

That was when he looked down at her face..

Through the muted light of the lamps across the path to the cottage,and the torrential rain,Astha could see his eyes glittering with anger and something different too..

Her heart beats became fast,at his hot gaze,and she clenched onto his now wet shirt tighter,as he walked on towards their cottage in a determined way..
