CHAPTER-17.

Astha stood silent and still as the sound of his footstep came nearer and nearer and nearer..

Her heart beat increasing with each footstep..

And then he came and stood just behind her..

Astha already had goosebumps on her neck,as his warm breath feel their,and the smell of his cologne reached her sensitive nose.

And then he moved closer,his hard male body almost touching her back..Almost but not quite..

Astha took in a steadying breath,trying to calm her nerves,but then she almost jumped up in surprise,when she felt his warm breath against her ear..

Oh BAPPA!Give strength..She prayed closing her eyes,at his proximity..Her body already melting at his closeness..
With bated breath she waited for him to start kissing her or pull her into his arms..She waited for that fireworks of emotion that only he could arouse within her,to take over her senses and drown her in bliss..

And then he whispered huskily into her ear,making her shiver in response as his warm breath tickled at her ear.

"Astha.."

She loved the way he said her name..As if he tasted the sound of it while saying it..And she loved the feelings he aroused in her,just by simply taking her name..

She took another steadying breath.

"Astha..Will you.."

She loved the way his husky voice sounded..It felt so good..

"Astha..Will you please move away if you are not using the bathroom?I need to freshen up..I am tired and sleepy."This time his words sounded curt and rude,and Astha mved away,as if he had just slapped her..

She walked towards the bedroom not sparing him a single look,so did not notice the naughty smile that came on his lips as he looked at her angry retreating back.

Astha woke up to sunlight and chirping of birds,and also the sound of waves..

She felt a thrill at the new sound so close to their cottage,and she ran to the balcony with the coat of her nightdress wrapped around her body,to look out..

The sight that greeted her took her breath away..There just down the cliff she could see endless blue water..The water was so blue that her eyes relished it..The blue waters crashing on the white sandy beach below made her yearn to run there just then..And the greens round their cottage along with flower shrubs,made the setting even more beautiful..She inhaled a long satisfied breath,closing her eyes and stretching her hands like a lazy cat..

She could not believe Thailand could be so beautiful..

And after a long restless night,were she had to bear with Shlok sleeping with utmost comfort,while she could not,she finally felt in accord with the world..

She was glad that her honeymoon trip was here..

She straightened when she saw a jogging Shlok coming towards the cottage through the tiny walking path,and quickly got inside to get fresh..She had the whole day to enjoy the view and the sea water and beach..

It was almost noon and Astha was not entirely sure if she was supposed to be feeling good or bad about being here..

She sat by the beach,under the shade of an umbrella and seeping orange juice,and once again saw Shlok laughing and having a god time with one of his old college friend,whom he had suddenly met at the beach..

To add to her agony,all those bikini clad bodies round her was making her feel stuffy and overdressed in her saree..And to add more Shlok's friend had a sexy slim tall and bikini clad wife,who seemed to be more interested in eying and gushing over Shlok rather than pay attention to her own husband..

As it turned out they were all classmates from college and as they talked and laughed about past incidents,Astha completely felt like an outsider,and a burden..

She got up and decided to leave..She had her share of enough ignorance for one day..

To her surprise Shlok got up too,as if he was attuned to everything she did,although he had been sitting a bit distant from her,and with his back completely turned to her..

But Astha ignored the slight tug at her heart and decided to ignore him and walk ahead..

"Astha!"She could hear him calling her from behind,but she did not stop,as she walked quickly towards their cottage..

She was just getting ready to go for a shower when he slammed the door shut and strode upto her..

"WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!"He snapped out angrily.

Astha did not bother to respond,and taking her clothes she turned towards the bathroom.

Before she could take a step however,she was whirled around by a furious looking Shlok.

"I AM TALKING TO YOU,DAMN YOU!HOW DARE YOU-"

"DO NOT MANHANDLE ME,MR. SHLOK AGNIHOTRI!"She seethed out instead,and pulled herself free from his grip.

Shlok looked taken aback by the rage that emanated from every inch of her tiny petite body.

"I am not your pet dog that I will take your commands,whenever and wherever you please..!"She gritted out,stunning Shlok even more.

And before Shlok could understand anything,she had whirled round and walked into the bathroom slamming the door shut behind her.

Astha was reading a book in the balcony when Shlok walked out talking on phone..

"No..No..I don't think I can attend the party Smita..No..Yes okay I'll let you know.."He cut the line turned towards Astha,who still had her nose in her book..

The entire afternoon she had been chillingly cold.Confused as to the cause of it he was unsure as to how to approach her..And that was a first time for The renowned Shlok Agnihotri.

He was just deciding how to approach her with the party invitation his friends had insisted he had to attend.When surprising him for the second time that day she spoke up.

"If your friends are insisting so much,why are you refusing?"She still had her eyes turned to her book.

"I thought..I thought you won't be comfortable..As the party might be loud and with people dressed-.."He drifted off,not knowing how to tell her the truth without hurting her.

"Say yes..I will make myself comfortable.."With that she got up,and was about to re-enter the cottage,when something made her stop.

Slowly she turned to face him,and Shlok inhaled a steadying breath at the fire he saw in her eyes.

"You won't be ashamed of taking me to the party Mr. Agnihotri..That's a promise.."

With those stunning soft words she turned back and entered the cottage,closing the door with a click..

And Shlok was left to digest her words and wonder at its meaning.

Shlok was checking his watch and prancing on the balcony,when he heard the cottage door opening.

He sighed out in relief,she was not late after all..

Thank God that she was actually punctual and could leave for the party now.

Slowly he turned to face her,getting ready to see her in one of her party sarees,when the sight of her had his mouth almost hanging open..He blinked twice not able to believe his eyes..

Was that really Astha standing in front of him?!!
