Gayathri is ordering her mother in law to make a spicier sambar while Vino demands a better chutney.
Prakash and Sathya approach the dining table.
Prakash: Stop mother
Gayu: What's the problem Prakash?
Prakash: What rights do you have to make my mother work like this?
Gayathri: I'm the one who feeds into the family the most. So everyone should do the justice and make me happy.
Sathya: Akka, this is not a hotel for the workers to demand to your needs and make you satisfied with the meals. She is your mother in law and not a servant.
Mother in law: it's okay Sathya. Why make this problem bigger? I'll just go and cook.
Sathya: This is the problem. You're providing the perfect platform for her to be bossy. When you're not happy if affects the whole family.
Gayathri: What Sathya, suddenly you're showering a lot of affection towards your mother in law.
Sathya: I have always been affectionate. It's her eldest daughter in law that is a painful headache for her.
Gayathri: Shall I cast your memory to what your husband said when my sister was forced to cook.
Sathya: So you also remember that she was forced to cook because she was criticising the food.
Gayathri: Sathya!
Gayathri rises up
Sathya: Sit down Ka, knowing that the world will end if you enter the kitchen. I'll offer you an alternative.
Gayathri: Why didn't you tell your husband to cook when he complained.
Sathya: I won't bend the rules. If he repeats the mistake he will cook.
Prakash looks shockingly at Sathya
Sathya: Only if you criticise your mother. I'm sure you will never do that
Gayathri: Sathya, you're crossing your line.
Mother in law: Yeah, let's not make this problem bigger. I'll go and cook, it's sorted.
Sathya: You think it will be sorted? She's only going to find more holes in your dosai.
Sathya digs through her purse and puts a lump of money on the table.
Sathya: On your way eat in a hotel with my money. No one here will do anything extra to cater to your demanding needs.
Gayathri walks away
Sathya: Aren't you forgetting something? Don't worry you can keep the change. I don't expect change from beggars (walking towards Gayathri who stopped)
Gayathri: Sathya!
Sathya rests her hand on Gayathri's right shoulder
Sathya: Cool, cool.
Gayathri knocks Sathya's hand and walks off furiously
Sathya returns to the table and sits next to Prakash
Sathya: Do you also want money Vino or are you satisfied with the food now?
Vino clears off
