Thanks so much Sangeetha, abhay and Kamal...
As I thought, the city must have been built over a long time and encompassed many aspects...it wasn't one dimensional
Only why did they have to disappoint us with this Benazir track so?

Okay... nice historical update again.

But, I have a question, please dont' get me wrong this time.

This is regarding the confusion of Ajmer Sharif - Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti - his muqbara is in Ajmer and he was the decendant of Salim Chisti . Ajmer is pretty far off from Agra.

But, this Saint Salim Chisti lived in Sikhri village which is only about 26 miles of less than 50 KMs from Agra. Thats why Akbar or his family members undertook Padayatra there a few times I guess.

I remember reading somewhere that apart from Jodha Akbar's visit there previously for "mannat", he also made her stay there when she became pregnant in Fatehpur Sikhri coz, he wanted Salim to be born there at that blessed place.

Please correct me if am wrong in my observation and clarify.

Hi Viji
No, i didn't take you wrong.😊

So, now regarding your questions.

It was other way round, i.e., Sheikh Salim Chisti was a descendant of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

And, regarding 'padyatras/walks'.
Walks were undertaken to the Ajmer Dargah as well, despite long distance.😊 I remember one such 'padyatra', where Akbar in January, 1570, went to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, and completed his journey, walking. The distance walked was over 350 kms.

Yes, MUZ was taken, to Sikri during pregnancy (Salim), since that was considered to be an auspicious place, as Sheikh Salim Chisti resided in Sikri, and she stayed in Rang Mahal.

(Explicit mention
-->> Barring "FEW MINOR" interruptions due to affairs of Sultanate, Akbar ALSO stayed with her .!.😊)

Hi ,

@ Abhay, See...didn't I tell u there's a whole lot of confusion about the Chistis...??🤣

@Viji: Khwaja Garib Nawaz was long expired when Akbar visited Ajmer...he went to the Tomb Shrine of him ...and Salim Chisti was very much alive when Akbar got in touch with him....😊

Okay, Now another clarification...Chishti/Chisti is a clan/order of Sufi saints...so being Descendant means being the next Chisti Saint...Not always his blood-relation only...😊

Regards,
Kamal

Sorry for still being in the Chisti ki kashti😕 Does that mean ki when Akbar and company say that hum Ajmer ja rahe hai (to the shrine I mean) it implies to the tomb shrine of Khwaja Garib Nawaz and when he says we are going to Fathepur Sikhri means they are visiting Salim Chisti? Sorry again, asking this question only for clarity purpose😊

Pallavi,

There is no scope for confusion.😊 Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer, popularly called Gharib Nawaz holds the credit of popularising Sufism in India. He was called Gharib Nawaz, as he was famous for his charity and generosity. He existed around 12th/13th century.

And, right now in show, we are around 1562-63(16th century). So, when Akbar & co, went to Gharib Nawaz Sahab dargah in Ajmer, it was the shrine. And, in Agra, Sheikh Salim Chisti is very much present now. Hope this clears.😊

Also --> As it is explicitly mentioned in above post, that these Khwajas were not related to blood relation always. So, in following link, another clarification--> Hussain also, was related to Khwaja Bahauddin Bukhari, but was NOT a direct descendent.😊
https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/100493899

BTW, it's clear otherwise also, these Khawajas were like the present system of Pope in Christianity, who are also NOT neccessarily related by BLOOD.!. This is just an analogy. Nothing more..! 😊
