CID Written Update - 1st February 2014: Lift Mein Anhoni

Scene 1

The episode begins outside a building at nighttime. We see Purvi in casual dress and arm in a sling stepping out of the elevator and walking to a car. As she's about to open it, two men ambush her from behind and attempt to capture. She fights back and knocks them down, but they take advantage of her injured arm and overpower her.

Scene 2

Abhijeet sir, Sachin, Pankaj and Shreya are seen waiting for Purvi in another corner of the building, and worried why she's late. Abhijeet sir asks Sachin to quietly click a photo of a goon loitering around there. Pankaj informs that the guy has been living in the building on rent since a month. Sachin checks with their database and discovers that he is an experienced hitman; Abhijeet sir says that perhaps he's out to murder Makran as well. Suddenly, they see Makran's car swiftly driving out of the building premises. Shreya calls Purvi only to discover that her phone is switched off.

Scene 3

Inside the car, Purvi demands to know why they attacked her. Makran tells her that they've found out she is a CID officer and had rented a flat in the building to spy upon them. Purvi denies it, but Makran points out her injured arm and says he recognizes her. We're shown a brief flashback of the team lying in wait as Makran and an associate meet on a deserted road; Pankaj accidentally gives away their location and Makran opens fire, injuring Purvi's arm. She fights back with the team despite her injury, but the thugs manage to escape. Back in the present, we see Abhijeet sir and the others following Makran's car. Without warning, they find themselves faced with another identical car with the same number. Both cars head off in opposite directions; since one of the paths leads back to the building, the cops take the other one and find one of the cars parked up ahead, empty.

Scene 4

Makran drives back to the building and forces Purvi to move inside with him, and into the elevator. The cops arrive and the watchman tells them what just happened. Shreya discovers that the other lift isn't working. Abhijeet sir sends her and Pankaj up via the stairs. Inside the lift, Purvi defies Makran who tells her that he plans to murder her in secret in his flat. As the lift reaches the 17th floor, there's a sudden jolt and the lights start to flicker. As Makran is distracted, Purvi quickly draws a revolver hidden near her foot but the thug sees it and demands her to surrender. At the 18th floor, there's a loud gunshot and screams, and the lift uncontrollably descends and crashes at the bottom. The cops open it and are stunned to see Makaran lying dead inside, with Purvi injured and unconscious.

Scene 5

At the hospital, the doctor informs ACP sir that Purvi is fine and will soon regain consciousness. Once she does so, ACP sir slowly informs her about what happened, and demands to know why she killed Makran. He says that she was seen entering the lift with him and traces of gunpowder have been found upon her hands. Purvi is shocked and says she doesn't recall what happened. She only remembers that after Makran demanded her to hand over her gun, she was about to do so when a powerful jolt shook the lift and she was knocked unconscious due to a blow to her head. Sachin sees an incoming call from the DCP and ACP sir says they're in trouble now.

Scene 6

In the forensic lab, DCP Chitrole demands to know where's the bullet with which Makran was shot. ACP sir informs him that Purvi has been detained but points out that what exactly happened in the lift is still unknown. Dr. Salunkhe informs him that the bullet has not yet been found and it pierced Makran's skull from one ear through the other. Chitrole gets annoyed and discovers the hard way that an accidental gun discharge can be rather discomforting.

Scene 7

Abhijeet sir, Dr. Salunkhe and the others are seen examining the lift for clues. The building residents complain about the lift being sealed off and inform that the other one has been damaged ever since some technician worked with it. Sachin asks for the number of this guy. Abhijeet sir and Dr. Salunkhe trace the path of the fired bullet together and discover that, after being ricocheted several times, it leads to the ceiling fan duct overhead. Abhijeet sir recovers the bullet from there. Dr. Salunkhe sees that it's a 0.9 mm bullet, which is the caliber of Purvi's gun as well.

Scene 8

In the bureau, DCP Chitrole questions Purvi who insists that she didn't kill Makran. She says that before being knocked unconscious, she had heard a bullet being fired, and also felt someone groping something from her hand. She recalls having seen the time in Makran's watch when they entered the lift - 12:40. Chitrole begins to greatly pressurize her and Purvi desperately confesses that her gun was indeed fired, but only accidentally three days back at home. Chitrole reveals that somebody has transferred 10 lakh rupees to her bank account and says that she was paid to kill Makran. Trio supports Purvi and Chitrole accuses them of being biased towards her. Abhijeet and Daya sirs angrily demand to know how the lift and lights began operating weirdly on their own. They construe that it's someone's plan and decide to examine the lift again.

Scene 8

Abhijeet sir, Daya sir and Pankaj revisit the crime scene for further investigation. Duo examines the lift from above and finds the broken lens of a camera there. They find clips and rope further above on the elevator cable and a holder, concluding that a remote-controlled gun and camera were attached up there; the latter used to pin Makran's position in the lift, which the killer removed later. The jolt experienced by the lift was due to collision with this arrangement. They decide to question Makran's guards.

Scene 9

In the bureau, Makran's bodyguards say that they went into hiding after their boss' death as they were afraid the killer would come after them as well. ACP sir shows them a map marked with "M", "K" and "T". The guards say M stands for Makran, and the other two for Khuddar and Tatalia respectively. ACP sir recognizes Tatalia as an experienced thug. Sachin shows them the photo of the crook he had photographed in Scene 2; they say he's one of Tatalia's cronies and Makran wanted him dead. ACP sir shows another photo they recognize as an engineering student named Raunak, who studies in one DX college. ACP sir decides to meet him and tells Sachin to arrest Khuddar and Tatalia.

Scene 10

Sachin shows Raunak Makran's photo and informs him that the thugs had been following him since quite a while. He sees a lot of elevator blueprints there and Raunak explains he's attempting to create better elevator cables. Nikhil notes that the blueprints closely resemble the lift in Makran's building, and also the toolbox there was replaced with the gun/camera arrangement during the crime. Raunak explains this was his college project and the toolbox is meant to be delivered to people trapped in the lift via the cables. He says the only others who know about this project are his teachers and Cantona motors, to whom he sold the prints. Sachin updates ACP sir about this and is told that Tatalia and Khuddar's whereabouts have been found.

Scene 11

In a dark bar, Tatalia and Khuddar gloat about Makran having died without their involvement and his entire empire now being theirs. Tatalia frets about their lookout having being identified by the CID. Sachin, Freddy sir and Nikhil arrive disguised as arms dealers and manage to apprehend them after a brief confrontation. They also capture three more guys, one of whom is the lookout guy. Tatalia and the others insist they didn't kill Makran and have nothing to do with Raunak either. Sachin had photographed. Sachin questions the lookout how they were allowed to live in the society building despite being crooks.

Scene 12

In the society, duo question the residents about how the crooks were allowed to live there without their documents being verified. They bring the crooks there who confess that they bribed the secretary to let them live there. Daya sir seizes the guy, who reveals that Ayesha the chairperson of the society had asked him to do it. She denies it, but duo reveals that she's the head of mechanical engineering at the Cantona motors and had purchased the designs from Raunak. Ayesha tries to escape, but is captured and slapped hard by Shreya. She confesses that Makran and Raunak are her cousin and nephew respectively. Makran had become a drug smuggler and wanted to ruin Raunak's life as well, thus she decided to kill him. She chose the lift as he was not accompanied by his bodyguards there, but didn't know that Purvi would be in there as well. Abhijeet sir condemns her crime and says she'll be executed for it.

Scene 13

In the bureau, DCP Chitrole informs Purvi that the crooks have confessed to depositing money in her account to frame her, and that amount has been transferred to the police welfare fund. He says she's been cleared of all charges and welcomed back into the CID. Everyone claps and welcomes her back. ACP sir teases Chitrole's reluctance a bit, who tries to explain himself and then leaves. The episode ends with our team sharing a light moment together.
