Jai's motive

Even if Jai was trying to protect Bani, why would he do it this way and risk his relationship?

Blackmail can't be the cause, otherwise that just proves that Jai is not as powerful as he has been portrayed in the serial.

As far is face changes go, that is so pathetic, I wish someone could come up with something realistic.
