When he led his army back to Babylon through the Gedrosian desert, he lost a lot of his men due to the harsh terrain, lack of water, etc. I read somewhere that more men died on this journey than in any of his battles.

I thought he never had to fight in Egypt and they let him through without resistance because they thought he had come to free them from the Persians. They even gave him their Pharaoh.
