The battle was very tough because porus kept on fighting till end. Also it was a stormy weather...Alexander blnever lost so many men before...other than in Afghanistan

Lo, indirectly karwa bhi di! Aur saath mein baraatiyon ka bhi intezaam ho gaya. 😆

Ab shaadi ka tohfa bhi dene waala hai. Ambhiraj ki laash Alexander ko saunp kar usne Alexander ko aur bhi taaqat dedi kyon ke Alexander hi Ambhiraj ko Ambhikumar tak le jaayega aur Taxila shaayad ab unki taraf ho jaye ya Farsiyon ki tarah neutral reh kar kissi ki bhi madad na karein.

Arabia was not like Afghanistan, except for the very tough desert climate.The Arab tribes were always terminally disunited, and their loyalties were limited to their tribe. There was no concept of a desert kingdom that they would fight to defend.

The desert Arabs were also more sophisticated than the wild Afghans, and at least some of them could have been won over.

But as the oil element was not there as it is now, he would have gained but little from Arabia, bar the notion of having conquered it.

Your list is a very good one, but I would like to add a crucial item.

The need for tehraav, for taking time to digest what you have just swallowed, and to prevent a perennial restlessness from taking over your life.

Yes, and to drink far less than he did. Over time, alcohol abuse must have affected his judgement, besides damaging his liver and making him weak .

Exactly dear aunty g. Alexander praised only Afghanistanis bravery in his life. Even more than porus. Kuch to hoga afghaniyon mein...I read a book long ago about his battle in Afghanistan. It is said that Alexander was covered in blood. People fought with so much courage that Alexander chose not to stay there for even a month after the battle. While in other places he used to fight win and rest for sometime but not in Afghanistan...
