Samana,
I was in half-mind if I should hit "Like" for your post. That would have exposed me 😆 But then I said, come on ! and then I did hit Like. Good one! You can read my history there towards Moksha's response.

Anyways, Samana blessed us with her analysis. So that takes my fears away. But I actually was happy to see Suguna fight the other way, using dance for her sustenance but in the different manner. And very interesting I was remembering Navarang's Sandhya's song (Jaa re Natkhat..) and I hear the same in one of the promos!

😊

@bold: 😲

You are filling my head with too much air! 😆

But I am glad you decided to reveal yourself!

I too liked that Sugni is not rejecting the entirety of the tradition.

Nice Post!!!

So far the story has been superb!!! awesome direction, very good acting from all the actors..
Even I thought that the show is a bit slow in the beginning.. but it picked up the pace and really hats off to the creatives for showing something refreshing, new and real story.

I like the story backdrop and the way each character is sketched perfectly and suited for the respective actors.

I love Sugni and her mother's relationship.. both of them supporting each other around selfish family members.

The most important thing that I absolutely love is Vikram and Sugni's interaction. I don't know if there is a future love angle to it or not, but the moment they come onscreen, with their limited screenspace .. they just capture my heart!!! Thakur Vikram singh is Brilliant!!!

@Sam: Thanks so much for posting your summary and the link to the article by Amrit Srinivasa! I was going to ask you if you had any info on the devadasi and low and behold you posted without my having to ask😃.

Also, I agree that while the devadasi and the bedia are not the same (ie devadasi position in temple etc) there are many similarities between the 2 so I for one am very glad to have been able to read the article (both you summary and the article on EPW).

@Shri: So happy to see you back on this forum (even if it is only occasionally)🤗

I love your idea that Vikram will have a dark obsession for Sugni. That sounds fascinating. I guess an obsession begins to have negative connotations first of all when the one on the receiving end does not reciprocate. I think they have made it adequately clear that Vikram is starting to get into Sugni...the way he said "zindagi" while looking at her picture...but she clearly sees him as a helpful mentor figure who is not like other thakurs. What fascinates me most, though is that we know that he is going to want to do her sar dhakai (according to the third promo). My question is, wherefore? And I have written my prediction on page 1 in the third post, I think. I hope they go with that kind of subtlety.

You know, Vikram reminds me a lot of Nobu in Memoirs of a Geisha. He is against the system until he meets that one special Geisha that changes his mind.

@ArreYaar: I guess we will just have to wait and see because I didn't find as much to criticise in Adi's performance as you seem to have found. And here comes another literature reference...😆 I think this might be like Phantom of the Opera, where despite the pull to the Phantom, Christine ends up with Raoul. I think Adi is Raoul.

While I have not watched Memoirs of a Geisha I can see where you going with your analogy of the likeness between the 2 characters.

As for your next literature reference I can totally relate to how you would think that Vikram could be likened to the Phantom and Aditya to Raoul! Loved Phantom btw!

Parm! My hello to you !!!
Must say I am having a nice get-together! 😃

And now to throw in my literature reference on the lighter side 😆
I find the relationship between Vikram and Suguni as somewhat like Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle of Pygmalion.

Dear Samanalyse- You are a true analyser, lover this post of yours in particular.
in blue: Iam keeping my fingers crossed for a obsessed vikram, i woouldlove to see that. He is starting to fallsomehow, especially in that picture scene. Sugno does not think about vik that way, she sees him as you say as mentor, she seeks guidance and support from him, nothing more beyond that. It eould be really exiting to see if vik becomes this obsessive Takur, keeping in mind that he is a very sharp person but also calculates each and every move of his with great sharpness... while Adi is this impulsive, prejudiced, and hurt man who lets out his anger and his reslessness... he might be misstake by sugni but at the end she might who truley wanted her best! and that one was Adi and not vikram!!!
That would take the show to another level. They might even do the show a little ambigious so that sugni might find it hard to know who ram is and who raavan is.
in red: Adi beoing Raoul is alos intersting idea but i think the obsseive Vik and the impulsive/confused adi will be a delight to watch.
