The poem is written by Kavi Bhushan & it was read during the coronation of Shivaji.

Indra jimi jambha par,
badav su-ambha par,
ravana sadambha par raghu-kul-raj hai;

(Like Lord Indra against the demons,
Like underwater volcanic fire over the ocean
Like Lord Ram of the Raghu clan against boastful Ravana,)

paun baribaha par,
Sambhu rati-nath par,
jyaun sahasrabahu par ram dwijaraj hai;

(As strong wind scatters the clouds of rain
As Lord Shiva destroyed Rati's husband(kaamdev),
and like Parshurama destroyed Sahastraarjuna -)

dava drum-danda par,
cheeta mrig-jhunda par,
bhusan vitunda par jaise mrigraj hai;

(Like fire which burns woods,
and a cheetah on a herd of deer ,
Like lion on hogs,
so says Bhushan (the poet))

tej tam ansa par,
kanha jimi kansa par,
tyon malechchha-vansha par Sher Shivaraj hai!!!

(Like a ray of light in darkness,
Like boy Krishna upon kansa,
So has descended King Shivaji ,the Tiger.
upon the clan of mlencchas(barbarians))

Thanks for sharing with translation. They have used this for title song of Raja Shiv Chhatrapati serial, I absolutely love it.

Shruti, do you know that Kavi Bhushan met Shivaji Maharaj when he went to Raigad after hearing about the proposed Shiv Rajyabhishek. He was given the title of Raj Kavi.

I am not able to open YouTube link from tablet, have you shared the title song?

@Rani Padmini: IMHO it is immaterial whether Padmini was real or not. She is revered by many TODAY. That is what matters. Just like Radha, a fictitious character who got so popular that there is hardly a Krishna mandir where she isnt present. Even if we assume for the sake of argument that Padmini was fiction, even then you should not BS about her in the name of creative liberty. If all you want to show are scantily clad women dancing in fancy palaces when they aren't fighting half naked men with their tresses flying why not just make a historical fiction show like Game of Thrones. There you can put in all your modern values of feminism, secularism, etc. These people use popular names from History to grab eyeballs & then murder the same characters citing creative liberty. Alauddin Khilji was well known for his liking of little boys. Why not show that?

@Maddy: I am watching Ch. Shivaji on Star Pravah. It is such a nice show. I loved how they kickstarted the series, showcasing the talents & skills from various parts of Maharashtra before the Rajyaabhishek. Mrinal Kulkarni is divine as Jijabai. She is a timeless beauty I love how the show concentrates on the important events & doesn't waste time on unnecessary fiction. A lesson for everyone who makes historicals. Who needs fiction when reality is so interesting! I am especially glad there is no romance shown between Jijabai - Shahaji OR Shivaji & his wives. What little is shown, its all very dignified & limited. So excited for the next episodes. Thanks once again for letting me know about the show otherwise I would have missed it once again

I am so glad you are getting to watch it as you had missed watching it the first time. I don't get to watch regularly but try to watch when I can.
Agree with your comments totally, they have kept it largely political and still so interesting.
