A professional contract is not like a gun. Every contract has the provision that one can leave before the term ends by serving a specific amount of notice period. The required notice period before one stop's working is mentioned in the contract. In some contracts there is also the provision where one can serve part of the notice period and pay up for the rest. A contract does not make you a slave. What's the use of labour laws if contracts will be so tight bound? So don't worry...none of the actors have been put on gunpoint to work, they are doing it out of choice and being paid for it.

That said, I did like Hiten to do well for himself. I am a hardcore Sushant-Manav fan and it was not easy for me to digest seeing someone else playing the role. But Hiten has given a lot to Manav by making him his own. The spotlight was taken away from Archana-Manav and given to "younger" leads and he did not have any qualm about. He did his job the best he could from whatever given to him. It is good that he is doing so many things on the side. He was for time lead in KHTV on Sony, he is anchoring Savdhan India and even doing a film, plus he must be getting a lot of money for playing Manav as well. If not in PR, I hope he gets opportunities from other quarters. If he wants to leave, it will be a decision well respected. And, good for Asha and Rithwik as well that they are doing Nach Baliye simultaneously. Everyone has reaped the benefits from a successful show like PR, and I am sure that each one of them is grateful about it.

Perhaps you dont know abt the contract by Ekta and Balaji! Very few people can break a contract with BT and get away with it! Labor laws dont apply to Czarina of Tellywood! 😉 She has her own Empire and her own rules!
Its not a question of gratitude, its about whether the actors are getting enough screen space and good storyline. Im sure most people will agree that ArVi separation with this 20 yr leap has been the most absurd and senseless track yet! After 18 yrs leap, ArMaan were shown equally alongwith ArVi, their divorce proceedings, Teju's taxi-driving track all these ran simultaneously. So its incorrect to say spotlight was taken away from ArMaan after 18 yrs leap.

@ red: Well, Ekta Kapoor cannot be above law. Seriously, people have made Ekta seem like a female don. Well, there have been several actors who have left her shows after serving their notice periods. Balaji Telefilms is a corporate organisation just like any other. Although yes, we can choose to make it a fictional empire and imagine Ekta whipping her slaves with a metal belt.

Yes, its not a question of gratitude, one can surely leave after putting their papers. That's not what I said. I meant each one of them have benefited from PR some way or the other and even after leaving they will have fond memories of it.

Unfortunately whats said abt Ekta IS true! Read the news articles! I also had some sources close to her, who supplied me with info abt the way she treats her employees...yeah, even those famous actors are her employees!
She had blacklisted some actors who left her before completing their contracts or midway thru their shows. Im sure u have heard of Pulkit, Rajeev and Iqbal?
Even if actors want to leave her show, she has to agree to their departure and accept their notice period, otherwise they are bound by the contract till that period of time! Anyway if AshVik's contract expires next month, I hope they will leave the show after the crap they have been asked to enact in the show!

They broke their contracts and quit the show. Ekta couldn't tie them down or make them work zabardasti with contracts. With Rajeev I specifically remember cos I was following him very much in those days, even Iqbal to some extent- Rajeev broke his contract and quit the show. Pulkit dragged Ekta in court saying she wasn't letting him work outside due to the contract and that upset her badly.

The problem basically was they quit the show on unfriendly terms PLUS Ekta had a big ego in those days since all the successful shows in television were run by her. Leaving the show by breaking contracts did not get them into any sort of legal problems, but yes, they did get into Ekta's bad books. THAT is the reason actors do not like to quit Ekta's shows- not bcos they CANNOT quit it bcos of contracts, but bcos they fear leaving shows in this manner or going against Ekta will get them into Ekta's bad books.

Frankly speaking though, actors SHOULD quit if they really want to quit. Ekta and Zee TV will ALWAYS try to convince them to come back- either through other offers on the channel, more money, or indirect threats like they used to do earlier. But ultimately it is YOU who has to decide whether or not to take the plunge. Don't mind me saying this Pallavi, but after a point it is useless to blame Ekta or the channel or anyone else- I have wanted Ankita to quit for a long time and to this day I always rant at why SHE is choosing to do this show, not why Ekta or the channel aren't 'letting her go'. After all, WHY would they want to let her go! If they have their way, they would never want to let her go, and the same applies to Ashvik! At tthe end of the day the decision rests on you and how you go about with quitting the show. Sushant quit, didn't he? And that too at a time when PR's TRP;s were dipping- Zee and Ekta would obviously have convinced him hard to stay. Today Ekta has mellowed down a LOT. She doesn't hold grudges like earlier. Neither she nor Zee TV have any grudges with Sushant today. He was treated like Zee's own child when he came to promote his film on DID.

I actually never like to wish any show to end even now I don't want as it is not just involvement of actors but people behind the scenes who work more hard, also because leap just happened still if it ends then I will be happy ONLY because blame game on actors will STOP especially on Ankita of all. Just like someone mentioned on how a member fell in love with Purvi character more because of bashing same way I started respecting Ankita more because the way she is bashed and kind of name she is called is something I don't want any of their favorites to face it and I never ever saw Ankita or her sources uttering a word against any of cast in those whole saga where as she was targeted left right center for so many imaginary reasons of few fans. Purvi is atleast a frictional character.

What surprises me here most is comments. I see on how Ekta is considered like a don and how her rules are very strict yet we blame on Ankita for so many dam reasons which I don't get!

I personally feel both Ekta and Ankita are given too much credit for things both don't do.

@ Nikita:
Thats what I meant too...quitting Ekta's shows against her wishes, or ditching her in other words puts actors in deep waters...the stress is on "against her wishes"
Sushant's departure was probably approved by her so she has no ill will against him.
Yes, she was more tyrannical during her glory days, she blacklisted actors who quit her shows. That is a well known fact!
I gave the examples of those 3 actors because they broke their contracts with BT and left their shows and hence were on her hit list for a long time. Our topic of discussion was why actors cannot quit her shows until their contracts are over OR she agrees to let them quit.

So its not like any actor can just quit PR if they dont like their tracks or want to take up other offers. They have to wait till their contract is over!
