When people leave before Ekta wants them to, her history so far has not been good in how she handles it. She has in the past caused much trouble for them in their subsequent careers. One must walk on eggshells, to not be on her wrong side, it seems. I hope that Asha & RD had the foresight to sign a short contract. Of course one shouldn't leave without mutual consent, and fulfilling the contract is important, but Ekta, who is excellent at recognizing talent, nonetheless, clearly used some of the tracks and actors in this last PR leap, in questionable ways.
It's nice that Ankita has received the new young role she wanted, but it could have and should have been done as a new show or a PR part 2. Whether people recognize it or not, there WAS a show before the leap, a show which had many stories going, and all those stories just got dumped. That is NOT a good way to make a leap. The earlier 18 year leap had continuity between the pre & post and made some sense. This definitely does not.
Look, I am and was an ARMAN fan from the very beginning. For me this was the essence of the show. It would have been FAR better to end the PR story with closure on all the tracks and start a Part 2. It is unfair to say that oh so what, Anita & Naren are the new story now so who cares about the old tracks. There were and are many many viewers who were watching the ENTIRE show and following various characters and tracks. It was unfair and unkind for Ekta to just dump all those who were following ArVi or Ovi or for that matter Soham who is now a different character than he was.
Even though ARMAN are my first love, I have become an avid Arvi fan for several reasons. Apart from the wonderful & special chemistry between them, which is one of the reasons, I became attached to them because Purvi and Arjun, but especially Purvi, was treated so badly. Oddly, the very people who decried all the unfair criticism of Archana, (which was true, Archu received much unfair criticism) were 100% worse towards Purvi. It was really awful and shocking, & in all the soaps I have watched I have almost never seen such rude attitude and unkind things said towards one of the co-leads of a show. There was one other show where the female lead was treated so badly, just as the character of Purvi.
Honestly, I am an older member of this forum, both in age and in time on the forum, and I have found the rudeness on this forum to be almost intolerable at times.
It's too bad a discussion cannot be had on it's own merits rather than an opportunity to bash. More than too bad, it's really quite ridiculous.
If PR ends, it's because of the very bad business decision to jump from A to Z without anything in between. It's bad writing and bad treatment of both viewers and actors. These decisions ultimately have a price.
