I agree mothers are very important in the life of every child, particulalry girl children. However, where circumstances force fathers to take on the role of mothers then it depends very much how the father fulfills the role. many single fathers have successfully raised their children and daughters in particular where mother were not able to do so for whatever reasons. The qquality of parenting is what counts.Originally posted by: hillydee
Okay, thanks for the answer. As I can't see how Ovi is lucky to have lived 18yrs without her Mother.
I know Manav and Savita loved her very much, but I still think a Mother is the greatest gift for a girl.I guess only Purvi was lucky to know that.
Nothing compensates for the absence of a parent. No-one can subsitute a parent, no matter how hard they try, no matter how good they are at parenting.Originally posted by: hillydee
Morning KC Gang,For all those who have Mothers and Grandmothers and you may have lived with both or not, can they make up for the absence of a Mom?
Hilly, no single parent can fulfill the role of another parent singlehandedly. I do not think even if they are a close substitute they can 'substitute' a parent. Both parents are equally required for a child to grow up as a balanced individual.
Btw, it is subjective if Manav and Savita really failed in their upbringing. What Ovi has is abandonment issues that can be different for different kids. Ovi is a successful model, so to say she isn't independent, isn't right. It is another debate, that she failed to see or appreciate the fact if/whether Arjun loved her (which is also debatable, since Arjun does response to her also and neither is he completely indifferent to her).
