Let me 1st say Excellent piece of writing Zoya! Thank you for sharing Boni and I trust our praises will be passed onto her.
Jyothi, Arch and Sujata - I loved your pieces as well... Made me reminisce on who and what Arjun is and you are 150% correct... he has always been real and true to who he is. Some call him weak, others call him a liar, but he has always stood by what he believed. Arjun Kirloaskar IS very real and like most here, I too will always stand by him!
Its like family, once u adopt someone as your own, through good and bad, thick and thin, health and sickness, stupidity and sensibility - they are STILL YOURS.
I wrote this about Arjun but never posted on the forum, so just sharing a small part now:
Arjun ' I was drawn to him not as a mere character but as a person. The lost little boy I saw. A boy who lost his mother: his support, his conscience and the one person who loved him always and unconditionally. A little boy who grew up basically without his parents as his father was busy working and his mother was gone. A boy who was completely alone in this world but no one knew watching him from the outside. Which young child would you expect to watch movies with his chef for fun? He wanted to earn his dad's respect and love because that's the only real thing he had to work for and truly wanted. A father who wasn't around much but he can make proud by doing well for himself and for his dad's business. He started to succeed.
Neither Arjun nor Purvi believed in true love; neither believed they deserved love. But ' fates played their hands so beautifully that what we got was one of the most heart warming confessions of all time on Indian Television. Determined, arrogant, confident, passionate Arjun staking claim AND giving up at the same time his beloved Purvi. THEN fiery, confident, passionate and loving Purvi finally accepting the truth and returning that love. They made the audience believe in love with them, believe that no matter where you came from in life, when you do good, you would be rewarded for such good.
Arjun is yet to be rewarded... lord knows if the CVs will ever revive such a wonderful character that they made. Rithvik certainly brought Arjun to life with such grace, talent and conviction. Whether Arjun is resuscitated or not remains to be seen, but I wish Rithvik all the best and may his future be bright.
