Loved this --

brave protagonist of true love - as seen in front of D-family, Archana, Purvi

the saint of courtesy and stoic patience - oh God, the days when Ovi wasn't difficult, but plain annoying with her accusations, drinking, tantrums and what not. How on earth did Arjun maintain his sanity??

the soldier of hardships - the toil never ends for those who work hard it seems...

Arjun Kirloskar started off as the shrewd businessman - he solved business problems, restructured recently merged companies. He may have offended some people with his candour but he was always upfront.

Faultless in love - once he was in love, he stood up and stood by Purvi. His father may have made him delay calling off the engagement but Arjun was not one to shy away from his feelings. He openly professed them to D-family, to Archana, to everyone at the anniversary party.

It's odd to see him being called irresponsible - please don't forget what he did to find Onir in Kolkata, all for Ovi and her child.

I remember the office scene pre-leap, when he said it was difficult for him to move on so easily, Purvi said he can do what he really feels like. Arjun said if I do what I really feel like doing, your whole family may be destroyed, would you like that? He had a sense of responsibility towards the Deshmukh family, towards his married status, despite all allegations thrown at him otherwise.

Some of the other sickening names I see flying about - it seems like Arjun is the worst character in fiction show, leave aside PR! Not for me, I don't like how he has been sidelined in the show right now.

Hate CVs for making him their favorite whipping boy! Why do you dislike him so much CVs? Why give your second lead such a horrible turnaround?

I want him to be khadoos again, bring back the no-nonsense go-getter once more.

Hey Peachesnplums, another wonderful write up.

Kools,

This is the single most comprehensive take I have ever seen on Arjun Kirloskar,as he was, as he failed to be, and he should now at least try to be. Padke dil khush ho gaya, especially the parts about where he went wrong and why. Congratulations, and thank you.

I always held that there is, in every love affair, one who loves and one who is loved, and no prizes for guessing who is what here! I used to rage against all the nonsense that Arjun was taking from Purvi, making a doormat of himself not just for her but for her aai as well.Purvi was not Arjun's strength, as I had hoped, but a crippling weakness that has all but done him in. But then he was never the first or even the 11th in her list of priorities. It reminds me of nothing so much as that professor who falls in love with Marlene Dietrich in The Blue Angel, and sinks and sinks and sinks.

I loved the line" Arjun also did a murder when told by his lover . He murdered his own happiness ." I remember once writing the obverse of this, about Purvi, that she had committed a murder, of the Arjun Kirloskar who had been.

I think she is going to destroy Onir as well now, poor chap, or at least hurt him seriously. The woman in a regular demolition machine, who does nothing but damage the men unfortunate enough to fall in love with her. First it was Arjun, now it is Onir. Both of them should rue the day they ever set eyes on her, but of course neither will do so. Instead, both will follow her around like tame poodles, and pander to every insane demand of hers, whatever the cost to themselves.

Oh well, what is the use of all these laments? I suddenly felt so nostalgic today about Arjun Kirloskar circa April 2012 that I dug up my posts of that month about my two favourite scenes - the one with Aashana, and the one at the mandir the day he is supposed to leave for Canada - and recirculated them for similar nostalgia-affected folk. What more can one do? For now, I truly enjoyed this lucid, logical, and very forceful essay of yours.

Shyamala

This is the single most comprehensive take I have ever seen on Arjun Kirloskar.. Yes,I agree with you completely. I think many people like your post Kools.. I hope Cvs really give ears and eyes to this post.

I was never a big follower of hindi soaps before, just used to watch them sporadically, but sometime early last year, I had watched PR by chance and saw this young, dynamic, yuppy, arrogant businessman who had come to India on business and he caught my attention. Boy, did he ! He was so different from the norm, confident, arrogant, self-assured, smart, articulate, no-nonsense guy, that I was hooked all the way. I have watched him tangle with Purvi, then slowly but surely fall in love unknowingly. His realization that he is in love was shown so beautifully, but once he was in, it was all the way with him. Nothing with Arjun is half ways. That is the beautiful part of it. He went through misunderstandings, trials and tribulations in winning his love, but he held steadfast all the way. And, he did get his love for a while. Those were the glorious days of his life.

When he said of Purvi, "Khud se zyaada pyaar karoonga main", it was not just mere words that he uttered, he meant them all the way. And all his actions before and after Purvi's betrayal show that. His actions are misunderstood as weakness, but it is not so. For he means what he says. He will go to any lengths for his love. That may not be kosher for all, but that is how he is. All or None. That is probably not easy for all to understand. Despite how Ovi had got him, he has tried his best, not an easy task, to be a husband to her. She had not made it easy, and neither did Purvi. I really do not want to talk about these two girls now who have wreaked havoc in his life and left him as an empty shell that is his life now.

Why did the CV's not let Arjun fight Purvi when and after she forced him into the wedding, and divorce Ovi is a mystery that I do not understand even now. What they have made him do since then goes against everything that Arjun is. It remains a puzzle as to why Arjun has been butchered so much and is continued to do so even now. He has been nothing but a cameo for the past few months, being a crutch to Ovi, Purvi and sometimes for no reason, other than to hang around. It is a shame, for such a beautiful character to go waste as such. If the intent is to promote other actors, it could still be done, without doing this to Arjun. It just shows the limitations of their imagination and nothing else.

Rithvik has made Arjun real for some of us, such is his talent and dedication to his craft. I was always amazed at the way he has brought this character to life, and the emotions he has protrayed in some of his hallmark scenes are unforgettable. His confession to Purvi, the temple scene before he decides to leave for Canada, Purvi's confession, the rain scene where he tries to convince her later, his chawl scenes, the bridge proposal, and the best of all the night on the bridge before Purvi's betrayal , where he talks about his mother have all been executed so flawlessly, one cannot but fall in love with his talent. The emotions that he is capable of showing with his eyes and face when given a chance are a treat to watch. As Shyamala used to say, he has one of the most mobile faces of recent times. ..he had quite a few of us matured women, also fall in love and empathize with Arjun. That is his biggest achievement and credit goes entirely to Rithvik's talent. If the writers do not use him the way he should be, it is a loss to PR and nothing to him. He probably will still get his pay check ..😊

So, Yes, I stand by him, even today, despite all. For, to me, Arjun Kirloskar, is one of the best and real characters of PR.

Superb post 😊 Very touching..

Jyo Jyo...My goodness...you have nailed this so well I find myself hard-pressed to find something to say. Excellently sums up who and what Arjun Kirloskar is. He is indeed the victim and has been wronged to a point that is beyond forgiving. Purvi has much to answer for and a better track would be to see her finally have to pay the Piper for her sins. I dont care what the justification is- or how mahantaa she thinks she is--nobody has the right to play God, least of all her. Purvi is forever damaged in my eyes regardless. You know to be honest- though I heartily dislike Ovi- in all fairness I will say this. We talk so much about how Ovi should face consequences, and Punni getting away scot-free...but what about Purvi? She is getting away scot free too---and you know what? She is no better than them. Not in my book. She wrecked a decent, accomplished, intelligent, good-hearted young man's life. He took her at face value and believed in her---and she threw that decency and goodness and love right back in his face.

I dont believe Ovi has changed and will never be convinced of this. Especially after her selfish, childish, and destructive behavior toward her unborn child because she was mad at her husband. But I cannot in all fairness blast Ovi and let Purvi go free. She is no better than Ovi. Arjun loved her with everything he had in him...and she shattered his dreams and his life in cold blood.

A better track, instead of forcing us to watch the whole thing be done all over again to poor Onir would be to turn AK khadoos again...reunite them for the baby's sake...and watch her go through all the things she put him through. She will have to earn his trust respect n forgiveness back..and I want to see him give her one hell of a time as she attempts it. It is no less than she deserves in my back. After wrecking his life, keeping the truth of both his babies from him is the last straw for me. Handing over the baby in a matter of minutes. Nope= no sympathy whatsoever.

And I agree 100% in regards to Rithvik. He is Arjun hands down- and no other actor could ever play the role to the level that he has. Nobody else can be Arjun Kirloskar- of that there is no doubt. The scenes and emotions are executed to perfection. Even an intense eyelock from him speaks volumes and holds the viewers spellbound. This is a very talented young man, and as versatile as he is, there is no doubt he will go quite far in his career. He even makes the cameo appearances and constant watershed scenes something to talk about! As for standing by him- well, that makes two of us.

Another beautiful post. I am with you with Purvi and Ovi's case.

If you read everyone's post one thing in common is why they all loved and enjoyed Arjun Kirloskar who he was when he first came to the show and not what he has become now under Purvi's manipulations & betrayal..

I feel sending CV this topic some posts which could be confusing..
As there is indirect support in Arjun reuniting with Purvi I felt..I could be wrong but there is 1% chance in me being right..
I support Kools post completely...
I am for Arjun being back to his original self and letting Purvi have it...And not even wanting her anymore especially after finding out the truth on baby...Know the reasons why she did it was to hide her butt but not for Arjun-Ovi's marriage as she claims...No mahanta and tyaag glorified..
Admit his mistakes in being weak at Purvi's manipulations..He did not need to marry Ovi...he chose to and rest he should take responsibilities in what happened...Baby and rest..
Ovi had nothing to do with it...Its all Purvi who started and Arjun finished it..
