He did not have to marry Ovi. He was not held at gun point. Purvi just gave him an oath of her love. He could have told Purvi, I love you, I have done too many things to prove this to you, I am not going to listen to what you have to say and marry your sister. If it is that big of a deal I am not going to marry you either. Afterwards when everyone would have found out what had happened and the condition that Ovi and Purvi had laid before Arjun, they would have gotten Arjun and Purvi married. Just because someone tells you prove me your love by doing this doesn't mean you have to do it. I mean I wouldn't. The fact that I love you should be enough. I am not going to go around proving to you I love you.

well said 👏.
why feel bad for arjun..?
it's his own choice...his fault.

Ok did i miss something?Purvi went to Mumbai to stay at her Aai's place.I cant recall her saying she has left Onir forvever.😕
Do i feel bad for him?I feel bad that he will be dragged through the gates of the crazy D clan...oh wait the millionaires live in a chawl. He will have to treat the same woman who doesnt care abt the baby inside of her but who thinks of his clinic as a pigeon hole.I do feel sorry for Onir as he will have to treat that crazy woman and listen to her rants.I see him as a no nonsense kind of guy who will put Ovi in her place. She needs that right now if the D clan will shower her with kitty parties every time she gets upset.
Onir the psychologist/Gynecologist/Marriage counselor/Preacher/Teacher can be of good use to the Ds and Ks just hope he prepares himself for what he is abt to be thrown into.No one walk out the same after the enter the D family.
However i dnt feel bad abt Purvi going to her Aai's place caz when she was getting emotional and telling him her past he refused to listen.
All i have to say to Onir is bring lots of tissues(mite not need them for yourself but rona dhona doesnt run in the blood it is air borne) and make sure u wear proper shoes in times when u mite need to bolt out from the Ds.

Dear Ash, Jyothi, and the all the rest of the dedicated PAP membership (of which I was the founder, and am still part, not being able to get away from our boy Arjun),

We should feel sorry for Onir only on one count, that like Arjun, he had the misfortune to meet and get involved with Ms. Mahaanta, aka Purvi. Also for his being too noble and understanding for his own good.

This is not feeling sorry for his not having found out about her past; in fact I do not think he would have cared even if she had told him about her and Arjun. It is feeling sorry for him because of the cavalier and very unbecoming way in which she is now treating him, a very loving and caring husband. It is like you feel sorry for someone whose kid, despite the best and most caring of upbringings, is found taking drugs.

I do wish he and Arjun could have met and compared notes about the lady in both their lives while there was still time (for Onir, that is, as Arjun is a gone case). Then, Onir would have had some advance warning, that she was like Circe in the Odyssey who turned strong men into swine, in this case into puppy dogs who run after her wagging their tails.

Now, my only fear is that Onir will become like Arjun and end up in the D chawl, all contrition for having presumed to stand up to his Mishti even if only briefly, and ready to treat her pyari behena at her behest. I still have some faint hopes that he will hold firm, but I know that I am generally wrong in such matters, so it hoping against hope.

Please, my dear young ladies, do not fall into the trap of venting on Onir your very justified frustration about what has happened to Arjun. Onir is as of now one of the most sensibly positive characters I have come across in Balaji soaps, and I very much want him to stay that way.

As for Arjun's misfortunes, they are of course partly Arjun's fault, but very largely Purvi's. and she has yet to pay for that. I hope she does, and in full, with interest. That too is a faint hope, but it is there. I will NEVER forgive her for what she has done to him. Never. She did not deserve Arjun.

And she does not deserve Onir. As for what happens to Onir now, if he comes to Mumbai wagging a compliant tail, that is the end of him as well. Ms. Mahaanta will swallow him too whole, and go about feeling on cloud nine.

I raged against what Arjun did in that awful hilltop scene, and I will again rage against what Onir will do, but it was no use then and it will be no use now. I felt more for Arjun as he was and is more vulnerable than Onir is now, but Onir does not deserve to be treated like this any more than Arjun did.

Lastly, while Ovi was rightly and roundly condemned for endangering her baby by drinking, how come no one has similarly criticised Purvi for standing at the door of the compartment in a train moving at full speed, with a mobile held in the same right hand with which she is holding on to the door railing? The slightest jerk or someone pushing against her from behind by mistake, and she would have fallen from the train and been killed. Her death would be her own doing, but what of the baby, which is (presumably) Onir's? Why is is that there is not a single voice raised to criticise her goings on? Is it because she is such a firm favourite that she can do no wrong?

Do I feel bad for Onir? Why???!!!! He makes his own choices, he chose not to know Purvi's full truth... not to know her past... he is making his CHOICE... just like everyone said Arjun made his own choice.

So, I dont see anything to feel bad for.

My dear,

What a perfectly logical and irrefutable take on the matter! Splendidly argued. For a somewhat different approach, but nonetheless reaching the same conclusion, you might like to see my post above to Ash.

My dear bee,

Let us take the general case. What would you say about a sanskaari, (presumably) pativrata patni, who, when her otherwise excessively doting husband refuses to accede to one of her demands, ups and leaves him, saying that without 'understanding and bonding' (shorthand for dancing to her tune) their grihasti is pointless and she will now consider her aai's home as her own?

This is exactly what Purvi does. She also lets it be known that her baby is Onir's (and I do hope so, though the jury seems to be still out on that), and yet she has no hesitation in cutting him off, abruptly, from her and the baby - she does not even take his calls.

At this rate, no marriage would survive. Did Archana's celebrated sanskaars and parvarish teach Purvi to treat the institution of marriage in such a cavalier fashion?

It was quite unbelievable, this emotional blackmail of the worst sort. But then why should we be surprised; that is after all Purvi's speciality. Did she not repeatedly blackmail the foolish Arjun with "If you ever truly loved me, you will do this and this and this and this"?

She cannot ask the same thing of Onir, and so, since he has made the mistake of marrying her, she blackmails him by announcing that their marriage is pointless and she is ending it. She has of course no intention of going thru with this break up, for she surely knows what the reaction in her aai's house would be once they know what she has done with Onir. So she lies and lies to the Ds with a straight face. Then again, she is so confident of Onir's dependence on her that she believes he will follow her to Mumbai in just a few days, and so she says as much to the Ds. It is all of a piece, her behaviour with the men who love her - whether it was Arjun then or is Onir now.

But there is a difference: she is married to Onir. Once she got married, Purvi's first duty should have been to her husband. Not to her parivaar, which in any case should now be the one she had with Onir, not the Deshmukhs or the Karanjkars. If there is a clash, the husband should come first. If she cannot be loyal to him, she should not have married at all. Nobody forced her to do so, did they?

What this shows, if indeed the point needed any further proof, is that for Purvi nothing matters but her mother. She will ditch any man and any relationship, even that of marriage, if it comes in the way of her trying to 'protect' her mother's interests. She needs, as I wrote elsewhere, to be forced to wear a board around her neck, a la David Copperfield, bearing, in large black letters, the words: BEWARE OF HER, SHE DITCHES. Then any men foolish enough to be attracted to her will at least be forewarned!

With warm good wishes for a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year 2013,

Shyamala

When one understands why Purvi had to leave Onir, then there is no reason why we have to feel bad/sorry for him.

She did not leave Onir for her OWN SELF.

She did it for her mother's daughter's sake! That daughter who doesn't care for her husband, her baby, or her family, has no regard for anyone or anything. And why? Because the family still cares for that ungrateful daughter and Purvi thinks she is part of the family and she needs to do what she can to help that family in the time of need. This all bcos Purvi's parents come crying to her and being a good daughter, she doesn't feel it right to leave her parents in lurch. And Dr. Onir is her husband and it is in purvi's hand to make it possible whem Onir too doesn't want to treat.

If after all this that purvi has done, Onir still chooses not to treat Ovi, it is his choice.

But once he does come to Mumbai and understands why purvi had to do what she did, even he wouldn't be angry on her, since he himself is a person of helping nature. If that is case, then why should we feel bad or sorry for him?
