I am so sorry to contradict you, but I am afraid the problem is not at all about Purvi's past. Seeing the kind of man Onir is, and how besotted he is with his Mishti, he would not have bothered even if he had learnt, out of the blue, that she had had a dozen ex-lovers in her past.

It has only to do with Purvi's wanting Onir to treat Ovi, despite his explaining that no doctor can treat a patient who does NOT want him to treat her, and her leaving him on that specious count.

Please do not confuse the two things, which have nothing to do with each other.

Onir has, till now, been a consistently and rationally good person, and I hope he stays that way, like Rajat Kapur in BALH, another Balaji soap. In fact it is Rajat who gives me some hope for Onir.

The only reason why one should feel sorry for Onir is his misfortune in getting involved with and falling for this serial ditching specialist, aka Purvi. Exactly the reason for which my heart weeps for my poor Arjun, who is in a desperate state now, worse than anything one could have imagined, saddled with a termagant of a wife for what looks like the whole of the rest of his existence.

This said, I think all of you are really angry about what has happened to Arjun, as indeed I am as well, but that should not stop us from facing the facts where Purvi is concerned.

All the very best to all of you for a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling New Year 2013.

Shyamala Aunty

Hi Shyamala Aunty,

@blue: No, it's not the lovers in Purvi's past that I feel Onir should have known about. It's the reason for her leaving them (or one, as is the case here) that would have been of interest to him.

I do feel terrible for Arjun, but I don't think that overrides what I feel (or don't feel) for Onir. I was just responding to the part of the argument where it said Onir doesn't know anything, and talking about how he chose to not know there. I'm still doing a wait and watch on Onir - will Ekta make him do a Rajat (Bade Achhe) or Prithvi (Kaisa ye Pyar Hai).

Thanks for your warm wishes and wishing a very happy and healthy 2013 to you too!

Peaches :)

My dear Kalapi,

As for your last para, which is fully justified, at least I have noted that and written about it on page 4 above, and to make it easier for you, I shall copy the relevant extract below.

"Lastly, while Ovi was rightly and roundly condemned for endangering her baby by drinking, how come no one has similarly criticised Purvi for standing at the door of the compartment in a train moving at full speed, with a mobile held in the same right hand with which she is holding on to the door railing? The slightest jerk or someone pushing against her from behind by mistake, and she would have fallen from the train and been killed. Her death would be her own doing, but what of the baby, which is (presumably) Onir's? Why is is that there is not a single voice raised to criticise her goings on? Is it because she is such a firm favourite that she can do no wrong?

Shyamala (Aunty) "

One cannot be clearer than that, can one?

Yes, it is a 21st century thingy, I guess. Hubby having a mind of his own isn't a prized catch, rather it has become having an attitude...but, of course, the problem is, most men actually do have attitude and will stand their ground, and we can call it manliness, ego, attitude or whatever. At least most men, I have seen, know that if they are right, they will stand their ground...and, I agree too, it has nothing to do with knowing Purvi's past...as with Onir benevolent character helping the poor, he probably doesn't care a thing about her past, as long as Purvi is true to him now...some men can be very confident and comfortable not to care at all...

Oh, btw, I am still waiting for a thread on Purvi and her travelling on a train alone in her preggo state😉😉...well, we had quite a few of those to criticize the other 'preggo' character of the show, isn't one going to be even started for her and her unique way in 'taking' care of her unborn baby😆😆

Kalapi this is new 21st century where it is genuine reason for seperating 😲...When a husband does not do what ever dear WIFI asks him to do is labled as "No understanding or bonding" and on that ground she can surely end the relationship..She was very clear in her letter to Onir she was leaving him as they did not have Understanding or bonding in their 6 months relationship..😳
Now my silly brain knows Onir is going to be shown turning into a -ve character just to make our MMLA sound, wise, tyagi, mahan and caring sister or wife. It will be silly Onir who was not understanding to his wife's whims..😉
Not getting love should make one psycho with issues but here tooo much love is making one psycho with deep rooted cause..

My dear Amita,

@blue
is so well put that I am left with nothing more to add to it, except that Homer's Circe would be full of admiration for our Purvi. She earned condemnation for turning men into swine, whereas Purvi is praised loudly for her tyaag!

QUOTE=nalonynnej]
Shyamala ji,
If Onir had knew about her past, he would know that she could make heaven and Earth trade places. He would know that she is a girl who would make a deal out of her love. But Onir didn't care, as you stated, he's head over heels in love with her. If Onir has no hold over his blind love for his mishti, then it's his own fault. He's lost himself to the extent where he doesn't apply common sense. Had he an iota of what Purvi is capable of, he wouldn't be suprised to see his mishti indirectly dragging him back to treat Ovi. Our senseless Arjun has also made the same mistake by falling so deep for Purvi that he was willing to marry another woman on a whim. As much as it is Purvi's fault for demanding so much from these men, it's equally there fault for not holding on to thr reins of common sense when venturing down the lane of love with her.
Happy New Year,
Amita

Haha, Purvi vs Circe? Purvi trumps that match any day. 😉 Odysseus managed to turn the tables on Circe's seductive powers but I don't think Purvi will ever succumb to anyone on PR. 😆 Plus, her powers far exceed solely turning men into pigs. 😃

If a man can marry a woman and exhibit such a lack of interest in her past life, frankly he is going to be unpleasantly surprised at some stage. He is the least interested in Purvi's family etc. As far as we know he never asked her anything about why she left her family. I find it odd.

Oh, I see Shyamala darling your post below 😆😆 but you must appreciate my frustrations 😉 as I have to continuously gear up (now) to defend preggo's wearing nail polish, or not liking a green saree or for that matter lack of deep respect for Lord Vishnu...uff, the list just goes on to glorify some🤣

Thank you, Shyamala.. In fact, I normally pray for only peace or shanti - it usually means everything else is managed well :)

I do wish you and your family the best in 2013. I hope you and all of us here find plenty of challenges and fun in 2013 - especially the younger set - so they can let this show be nothing more than something to watch when there is nothing to do :)

My dear,

With your @blue, as Goethe once wrote about Kalidasa's Shakuntala, "all at once is said", and I have nothing more to argue about.😉 I too do not know, really, why I keep letting these idiotic characters get on my nerves, and that too when I have a bout of conjunctivitis!

Pure folly, and so I shall stop at least now, and wish you and your family a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling New Year 2013. I have purposely left out the conventional happiness, but if you have these three, contentment, which is more lasting than happiness, is sure to follow.

Shyamala B.Cowsik

PS: As for Onir he is a paragon of a spouse, and I only hope that he stays that way. Of course he is neither a wimp nor a pajama right now, but I am deeply apprehensive that he too will be shoved soon into that race!

I quite agree; so much of unquestioning nobility is asking for trouble. I would have thought that something as serious as marriage would have called for at least some due diligence about his spouse-to-be.

However, as regards @red, what Onir actually says is that while he does not want to know anything about the reason why she left her family in Mumbai, he finds it very surprising that a girl could leave her mother and come away from her. What could have been the reason for this, he asks rhetorically. He also expresses surprise that when she met her parents after so long, she could behave so normally.
