Dear Trish,

Thank you so much for the very kind words; such perceptive praise is indeed special. I am, as you know, very fond of you, and anything that pleases you makes me happy!

It is good to have you back.

Dear Shyamala,

I just simply love the way you make sense of almost every scene from every episode of Pavitra Rishta in your posts. The patience and the detailed analysis with which you make even the most not-so-interesting episodes look interesting with your posts is truly remarkable. Even Tanya has this similar patience as yours. I also wish to congratulate you for writing the post ( a contrary take on Purvi) -- for reading Purvi's expressions so well that day, and supporting her behaviour the other day.

Dear Vilasini,

Thanks.

Yes, the antacid bit was good, wasn't it? But then that has become her staple expression these days, when she is not actually crying, that is. The bit with Sundari was a rare exception. If this stint as a 50 year old Archana is a prolonged one, this image will become a fixed one, and it will be tough for Ankita to carry conviction with the TV audience as a young woman in her next serial.

Wrt your " Ovi has to voluntarily give up Arjun in front of everyone.", it is very difficult to see that happening. Hers is not a normal love, it is obsessive, and that needs professional help. If this is to be the solution, Arjun and Purvi will grow, to quote my beloved Yeats, "old and grey and full of sleep" before they can get round Archana (90 by then, but still with pointed, painted fingernails) and get married.

As for Ovi meeting someone else, that is something Namita suggested a long time ago, but it is a mirage. There is such a shortage of eligible guys in PR and far too many women, that is the problem!

What do you bet that Arjun and Purvi do meet at the Siddhivinayak temple (the way in which these characters coordinate their movements amidst milling crowds so as to arrive at the sanctum sanctorum simultaneously is truly amazing! It used to happen repeatedly with Manav and Archana in PR I), do pooja together, and right when they are ringing the bell together, Ovi trudges up with Teju and perhaps Manav as well in tow (they would hardly let her go on her own)? You will have the high drama I anticipated!

Very good analysis..Thank you Shyamala.

"And bingo! Standing right inside the door, arms crossed, and looking like the 'before' picture in an ad for antiacids, is Archana. The poor boy blenches, and one cannot but sympathise with his plight, stuck between his nemesis (or so she must seem to him by now) and the door. He is probably looking out for the painted fingernail to be pointed at him once again, and bracing himself for the tirade to come."
Very funny..but so true
is Archana going to hurt Purvi for Ovi's peace of mind.
"the real reason, which Archana might not be acknowledging even to herself, is Ovi. "
If that is the case, then Ovi has to voluntarily give up Arjun in front of everyone.
I pray(sans vrat) to Bappa to introduce some other guy to Ovi during Sankashti.
Surprisingly Arjun mentioned Bappa to Sulo today..Hope Arjun/Purvi dont go to Bappa temple tomorrow..

Dear Jai,

Thanks. I am now contemplating setting up a Save DK Forum😉. I think he is dire need of one, poor man! You are so forceful and so persistent in pillorying him that I fear you will never be satisfied until he is hung, drawn and quartered, as they used to do so charmingly in medieval times. (Do you know what that actually was? They had 4 horses, each tied to one limb, and they literally pulled the person apart. Nice ancestors we had, or rather the Europeans had).

Well, I am not very sure that Archu/Manav - want to support Arvi , in fact I am sure Manav does not, and I do not blame him. Why should Purvi mean anything to him as compared to Ovi?

I am even less sure of the usefulness of DK and Arjun attempting any heart to heart with Ovi. She would end up clinging to him and crying all over him, and it would be tough to tear her away. If she was a normal girl disappointed in love, that would be another thing. Obsessive delusions need professional treatment, and Manav is not even thinking about it.

The other option is a complete change of scene, but Ovi screams so much at the very idea that it is a non-starter.

If she attempts of kill herself one of these days, that will be it, whether she pulls it off (is that allowed in TV serials?) or not. . Archana will never come around after that, Purvi will drown in guilt, and Arjun, who is also showing disturbing signs of being infected by the sanskaar virus, will follow suit. Arjun and Purvi can then give each other up, as they used to do in the old films, and we can rest in peace! At least I can, plus I can go to bed at a decent hour!

I only hope , if only for the sake of their eventual kids, that he does not end up marrying Ovi.

Hi Shymala wonderful analysis as usual 😉 but I tend to disagree on Archu's situation.(Agree to disagree as usual 😊)

First of all the entire challenge scenario is a big fiasco. The story has been moved away from the plot with the challenge scenario. It seems Ovi is going to be hung over as a obsessed girl forever. DK has not even bothered to think about the mental state his barbie doll might be. DK talks about making things right ,well you need to start with the most important person in this mess that is Ovi. DK has not even checked on her even once so far.
DK knows Ovi from childhood and he would know how much Ovi is obsessed over Arjun and after all it was Mr DK who brilliantly announced over phone to OVi how much Arjun was missing her n loved her.And then when it mattered DK went on to Australia giving more importance to business than the mess created there and his son's life. Isn't now DK responsibility to meet Ovi and talk to her.How he is planning to set things right here by sitting back n chilling out n let things happen. No wonder this guy takes no tension coz he does not do anything to sort things out. DK n Arjun both have a part to talk to this girl together to try n bring in some sense. One setting is never enough. First of all she needs to be assured that they are there for her to help her come out of this mess. When someone is there to support you around then only the other person tends to respond back. How come one expect Ovi to come out this obsession herself when no efforts has come from DK/Arjun to see her and talk to her .Arjun says Ovi is her best friend ,shouldnt Arjun also think about getting Ovi out of this delusion. He knows Ovi more than anyone.Arjun is caught up with situations so he cant think much but DK ,on Arjun behalf cant he see Ovi and talk to her.
By not visiting Ovi or even at least talking to her over phone,by completely neglecting her all of a sudden DK is not helping matters.
Manav n Archu are caught in such a complicated mess :
Archu/Manav - want to support Arvi but cant coz of Ovi.
Archu is caught up so badly between her 2 daughters. She can clearly see that unless Ovi comes out of her obsessed state ,she cannot breathe relief. And moreover Arjun has proved he loves Purvi but what justice has DK/Arjun done to Ovi for Manav/Archu to believe Arjun completely ? What steps have been taken by DK to resolve this mess..Nothing ...How will any parent want to give their daughter's hand to a guy when justice to their other daughter is not yet done. Justice meaning trying to prove to Manav/Archu that Arjun is a good guy first by putting his efforts along with his Dad to try n bring Ovi out of this mess or keep pushing his dad to be with Ovi n talk to her.Its a different story if Ovi remains stubborn and does not budge but what Manav/Archu would want to see is Dk/Arjun showing concern over Ovi not by talks but by actions ,by talking with her trying to bring in some sense. They would know that DK/Arjun at least tried and Arjun is indeed a wonderful boy.
Archu will eventually accept Arvi ,even Manav will but Ovi scenario and her state will always be the painful break for Arman.Unless Ovi comes out of the mess or DK/Arjun are shown trying their best to help Ovi out coming out her delusion its going to be hard for Arman to trust Arjun no matter how good he is.I think its state all parents have especially when their one daughter's life is affected unknowingly by their other one.
As though less on their plate ,Soham entry being negative is such a major blow for Arman. All Arman kids are shown to be having some issues. So sad to see Soham - Arman's dreams n aspirations after their first child died before being born, shown to be may be uneducated n a criminal. Really Arman are one unlucky set of parents.
God at least compensated Archu with Purvi and vice-versa.
I really hope Soham nullifies all the wounds and fresh set of happiness come in with Arvi marriage along with marriage of Ovi,Tej,sachu n Soham.Hope Soham plays a instrumental positive role for them.

Jyoti,

Thanks and thanks again. The antacid part was perfect, wasn't it? I feel good when I can think up something so neat, but it is even better when someone else likes it as much as I do!

@ blue
.
I agree completely with your take. Sulochana is now doing to Purvi, of course in a modified manner, what DK once did to Purvi with that misjudged telephone call That really started off the present mess, and this one is very likely to prolong it, with Purvi (and Arjun, who is fast catching her sanskaari virus by extension) clinging to false hopes and misinterpreting Archana;s every utterance and action in a determinedly positive light.

As for Arjun's overoptimistic comment, the Greeks were wiser. One should never tempt the jealous gods in this manner.

And bingo! Standing right inside the door, arms crossed, and looking like the 'before' picture in an ad for antiacids, is Archana. The poor boy blenches, and one cannot but sympathise with his plight, stuck between his nemesis (or so she must seem to him by now) and the door. Loved @red: !!!! 😆
I had posted this elsewhere..but repeating it again..
Here we go again...the Queen Mother in action ...😡..There is no end to her BS talk..How long is she going to taunt Purvi like that...I think I am going to change her title to WSM (Wicked Step Mother, a la, Cinderalla)... that suits her better...
That was the vent for the day !!
I knew this would happen..The crazy chit is back in action. I was worried about her silence for the past few days...Glad that the suspense is over and we can go through that looney cycle now..better get done with it ASAP.
i felt a tinge of alarm yesterday when Arjun assures Purvi "everything is gonna be ok"...hmm.looks like my fears are justified...it probably wont be for a while..
I didnt really go for what Sulochana said.. Poor Aaji is in self-denial and also giving false hopes to Purvi...Purvi is so desperate to believe her Aai's goodness, she is just lapping it up.
Anyway, let us see how the drama of the crazy chit's padayatra goes ... God give us strength and forbearance...uuufff
I am still trying to hold on to my haze of yesterday ...just barely hanging on..😃

Dear Kesha,

Your detailed observations are very logical (please also see my replies to Jyoti, Jai and Vilasini, they echo and /or amplify on the points you have made here.

And yes, the chase was very filmy. The good thing about it was that in the rehearsals and the actual take, RD must have lost a bit of weight, which can do him nothing but good! But the recognition bit could very well happen; it is an instinctive thing, given a keen faculty for observation.Often one recognises people more from their back than anything else.

I loved the Gujarati proverbs, and I have filed them away as well for future reference. But my dear, as for "tipe tipe sarovar bandhai, kankre kankre paad bandhay", one can carry this comparison too far. You forget that Rome was built by several generations, not one. And I for one am not going to hang around for another 3 leaps to see a 90 year old Arjun and an 86 year old Purvi take the saat phere!

as usual a very well written piece of analysis from you. I always wait for your posts and if i have time then i do comment on them.
My only regret from today's epi is the precap which makes me scratch my head in fury. Ovi is not going to let arvi stay in peace and her adorable aaji savita instead of becoming a motherly figure (title given by the twins to her), will try to manipulate and pollute her mind to the extent that soon she will become mini savita😡

Dear Archana,

Why that is exactly why I (literally) burn the midnight oil (well, it is a CFL bulb, actually, but never mind), to give you a heads up, so that you can spot more things and look out for the subtle points, as you already know almost all of it.

I agree with you about Archana, it all comes down to the sentence you have highlighted. As I have written in one of the posts above, Sulochana has now done to Purvi what DK did to Ovi, the call that started all this mess. Do see my responses to Jyoti, Jai, Kesha and Vilasini, for they each cover different ground.

What disturbs me now, even more than Purvi's general mindset - for her mathrubhakti is a given that, as mentioned in my latest post, is something that we cannot change - is the way in which ARJUN is beginning to sound like a clone of Purvi. When he wrinkled his nose outside the police station (after being released), and said that she should still not have gone against her aai's commands, I felt like clouting him. He has had it too easy, this foolish boy, with an over-indulgent father who backs him unreservedly in every folly of his. If he had had a domineering and aggressive mother who felt, in a mirror image of Archana, that Purvi Deshmukh was too downmarket for her precious son, then Arjun would have been too busy trying to get round his Mom, and would have left Archana for Purvi to handle. Now, it seems to be a case of an empty mind becoming the devil's workshop!

As for Ovi, no Archu, she will not react to that scene the way you think she will. She will try to scratch Purvi's eyes out (she is Savita's granddaughter after all) and cling to Arjun like a...well , limpet is as good a word as any. There will be a shindy to dwarf the one Manav staged after Arjun confessed, and God knows how it will all end. If, as I have speculated in a reply above, she tries to kill herself afterwards, it is likely to make things impossible for our lovebirds, and this whether she succeeds or she fails.

Shyamala, I have yet to watch the episode...but your analysis, as always, is fast becoming my benchmark! After reading I always watch out even more closely for the things you point out..😉..

The more I have seen and heard up until now...I have to agree...sadly...that it looks like all indication points to the fact that Archana is indeed unable to accept Arjun...not for any real reson but only because of Ovi's feelings.
I cant help but see that it is true...even if she doesnt want to admit it to herself. She does love Purvi truly...but cannot see Purvi succeed where Ovi has failed. Subconsciously she does not want Purvi to get to have what Ovi wants and cannot have. If Arjun was a separate guy that Purvi fell in love with, that had nothing to do with Ovi, Archana would have been fine with it. This crap about their families being different, his behavior over the engagement, and distinguishing between strangers and their own stuff is a bunch of BS. Ovi is the factor here: there is no doubt about it. Its obvious that Arjun loves Purvi greatly and he is a good boy. She herself clearly said to the Police Inspector that he could never do anything like what he had been accused of, and she knew his family well: his mother and she were friends.
At this point its not even about Archana accepting the truth. You cant accept something you havent even acknowledged in the first place. Archana is not willing to even face the facts. So having any hopes in terms of her warming up and accepting Arjun either because it is the right thing to do or even out of love for Purvi is probably not a good idea at this point. Always Manav and Ovi will come first to her. Thats the fact.
As for Ovi...she can do cartwheels all the way to the mandir as far as I am concerned. It wont do her any good---actually no----I take that back...unless you count the very real possibility of her running into Arjun and Purvi at the mandir happily doing a puja to ask for blessings for a life together...and caressing each others hands while tying a bell on the tree together..
Seeing that scene in front of her face may do her good after all so she can finally stop acting like a crazy woman and move on!!
More after I watch tonight...

My dear Shyamala, 👏 even when the episode was good and not too much drama, i love how you write about it, and stir everything that happened in this POT POURRI post of yours...love it...and ofcourse many thanks for this...
And this is the second time i have missed ur post and seen it only the next day 😕
Me too- wish for more of DK-Purvi convo and interaction...it was sooo heart-warming to see DK and Purvi was cute when just "Arjun" slipped out of her mouth...without the "Sir."
Your post is hilarious Shyamala, the antacids and all, still can't forget the Krack cream for Purvi's feet 😉..your humor sprinkled in makes for smiles plastered to my face as i read along and people wondering why i am all smiles or giggles...the umbilical chord - liked that reference... i wish..how i wish Purvi would be her own...butterfly and fly off with her Arjun to far away lands..where the grass is green, the sun is bright and there is no worry of the prakop of mata Archana devi ...what wishful thinking...
In agreement- Sulo- no she doesn't have it right on the timing either, her Archu MAYBE (we hope and pray to Shiv Ji and Bappa) will come around but not so sooon. But Sulo had hit the nail on the head in an earlier episode when Sulo had pointed out to Archu that Archu is differentiating between Ovi Tej and Purvi, and Archu spins it around into saying she has Purvi's best interests at heart. I do think that the Ovi factor looms large for Archana ...
As far as admiring Arjun- his looks- he is a HANDSOME DUDE😳😎- shaven or unshaven, matters not 😉...for the admiration and adoration of Rithvik- his personality and his acting- continues...but they had to show that look na- bechara jail se aaya tha na after all 😊
Thank u again Shyamala 😆

Wishful thinking, indeed, Abhi...But, it is just not yours, we are all with you on this..If only it were that simple 😍..
Rithvik is a HANDSOME DUDE, he has his cuteness in this avatar too..open, simple, modest, endearing...But, for me Arjun will always be the best when he is ARJUN KIRLOSKAR...What can I do, I like arrogant, khadoos men 😃😳...
