It is not just this incident and the endless 'sirring' of all and sundry. If you have been able to read the other three of those 4 posts of week before last that I had listed for you , especially A Contrary Take on Purvi, you will see that I was already getting quite fed of 'just Arjun', as distinct from AK.
He was so tiresome at the hospital, unable to say a single coherent word to the aggressive Manav (who, incidentally, has not yet been informed by his Harishchandra ki aulad wife that it was Arjun who saved Sulochana's life, and that is why he was at the hospital). It was the same at the garage, and when he is taken into police custody and later is interrogated in jail. He gets panicky and becomes confused and does not state the facts clearly. This is not how one wants or expects DK's son to behave in a crisis. Who would believe that just a week ago, he was heading OVT Industries?
Now I had been an Ambassador for 15 years till I retired, but if for some odd reason I suddenly had to take a job as an office clerk, I would not be 'sirring; everyone in sight. The habit of command is very long lasting, and here Arjun Kirloskar is by nature autocratic as well. So the way he is shown behaving now is not at all credible, and totally out of character.
In fact, I had felt that as soon as Arjun sought to touch Archana's feet and get her blessings before leaving for his interview, and launched into a peroration so sugary that it almost gave me diabetes. My post on that had the same title: Out of Character.
Then, after Purvi gets him out on bail, he actually wrinkles his nose and says that she should not have gone against her aai's dictates and done this for him! It was really TOO much!!!
The worst is that not just Purvi but DK too seem to be gaga over this new sheep-like Arjun. Heaven help us!!
You might also like to see my The Mystery of the Body in the Boot on July 7, and the partly off topic but vigorous exchange of posts that it set off. The original post was written when I was hoping for a nice cliffhanger of a court case against AK, but we ended up with a damp squib and a ridiculous bail procedure that I had to rip apart in a response to Kalapi, plus another dust up to clarify that the Indian judicial system is not on sale to the highest bidder. So much time wasted for nothing, but when anyone attacks India in an unjustified and blanket fashion, all my old, professional antennae come up! It was a useful dust up, all the same.
So, to revert, I devoutly hope that we are done with 'just Arjun' by Janmashtami. It is about as much as I can do to stick this retarded avatar, and his frightful checked shirts, till then. Your girl, on the other hand, has improved steadily, and has even augmented her wardrobe with a pretty pair of new outfits, in smoky blue and salmon pink.

I didn't like the somewhat meek way Arjun reacted in the recent scene with the inspector. The old Arjun would have been polite, respecting of the law but certainly would have retained an aloof demeanor. Maybe I am reading too much into the scene. How did he know what a Bihari accent sounds like? He is not a local to be an expert on accents.
