Dear Mandy,
It is very sweet of you to say that you are missing me, but my dear, I wrote about PR right up to Thursday last, that one being
Purvi's Progress, and there was nothing worth analysing in the Friday episode. This said, I do find it rather tiring to draft my post on the day's showing so late at night, and if it were not for very appreciative and kind souls like you, I would give it up and get a good night's sleep instead!
As for Asha getting the Gold award and Rithwik failing to do so, it is, firstly, a question of who the other nominees were. Maybe the ones for the best male actor category were stronger. I do not follow all this stuff at all, as I have a rather poor opinion of the level of acting in our TV serials, which is mostly hamming and crying or both.
Rithwik and Asha stand out because they are a couple of fresh and appealing exceptions among this herd of hams. If either of them were pitted against someone as subtle and strong an actor as Varun Badola, you would see a proper comparison. Just watch him in the repeat of the Friday episode of Phir Subah Hogi, which I have been watching for a week now, and you will understand what I mean. He is not handsome and does not have a six pack figure, and yet he effortlessly steals every scene he is in. Of course Rithwik and Asha are both very new, and I am sure they will go from strength to strength in the years ahead,
provided they get good roles.
As for Rithwik reacting so warmly and supportively to Asha getting the award whereas he did not, I am a realist, and I think it only shows that he understands very well how to project himself in public to the best advantage, and your reaction only shows that he has succeeded.
How on earth can he feel happy at his losing out, when he is actually the better of the two, and I am sure he knows it? Show business is a
very competitive field, and while I do not want to cite the obvious parallel of
Abhimaan, there would be next to no male actors who would not just accept but actually be happy about such a situation. If Asha had got it for another role in another serial, that would be very different, but for PR, when he has been sidelined despite a wonderful performance as her costar, would be very difficult for him to take.
I only hope this does not affect their comfort level with each other, and thus the charm of the Arjun-Purvi pairing. You might not want to believe what I say, but it is the truth, and I would not blame him for it at all. It is tough enough to men to get good roles in TV serials, and it would have helped Rithwik in many ways if her had won now. After another year, when PR has, hopefully, shut up shop, who knows?
Agla saal kisne dekha hai? I also wonder how Ankita took it, her losing out to Asha.

Shyamala ji, missing your thoughts on ARVI scenes. You are the best critic. Btw do you know Asha has won the Gold Award for the best performer of the year! Little sad for Rithvik though. My joy would have been complete with his win but then he has won many hearts. In fact I say he is the king of our hearts:)
But I feel very incomplete if one of them is missing in some action. Strange he na .. the characters of Arjun & Purvi are growing on us and moreover Rithvik & Asha as people they really aren't like other Television or Bollywood celebrities. They are so natural and down to earth. Their humility is what attracts me the most. They are so many physically beautiful people but none of them can match our sweet hearts RD & AN.
RD was so sweet,he posted Asha's picture from Gold Award and he said thank to all on her behalf and he was proud of her:) Isn't it amazing? The greatness of man is measured in how well you enjoy and rejoice in the victory of your close one and see your defeat as stepping stone to success. I love this man's humility and his generous heart!
Hope you had a blessed weekend.Love to hear from you:)
