Ok everyone. I just watched the part in question with my own two eyes. So here goes:
**grins** By now it is public knowledge that I hold Miss Shyamala in the highest regard and respect. We r both ardent PAP members...share the same loyalties...and she has been as much of a mother hen as I have to my, or should I say our "ladla"...striving to protect him when everyone else would have tarred, feathered, and hung him from the nearest tree by now the minute we both turned out backs.
The words "Shayamala you are right...or Shyamala I agree 100%"...have been in practically all my responses to her posts. I have to confess...I do wonder if the day will come when I will finally be able to say...".Shyamala my dear dear friend..l disagree!". However, alas, yet again, it looks like that day is not today. 😉
Yes Shyamala is correct. There is no doubt that Purvi is, in fact, defying her mother with this. I rewound and watched a couple of times to make absolutely sure I was also not mistaking anything. This is, without a doubt, quiet, but very sure defiance. I will even go one step further. The look Purvi gives Archana is cold..and even accusatory. In this episode she does not have to meet Arjun or utter a single word. Her looks say it all. Her look to him is one of extreme pain and suffering to see him suffer. She takes a step towards him with love and tears in her eyes...and then she VERY tellingly glances at Archana and back at him. Her way of communicating to him..."see she is here...looking at us...that is why I cannot come to you". And he definitely gets it...that is obvious too.
So here is the real kicker...far from being angry at Purvi I am so elated I find myself saying well done!! And here is why:
Purvi's anger towards Archana for doing this to her Arjun, although subtle, is so blatantly obvious that Archana is left feeling totally uncomfortable and guilty. You guys...not just the looks...the dialogue here says it all!!! As they are getting ready to leave...Archana makes the stupid mistake of actually trying to comfort Purvi...telling her "there is nothing we can do now...but he wlll be released tomorrow morning." Purvi's reponse is a look so accusatory it speaks volumes...and one sentence..."shall we go?". It is without a doubt her way of saying..."you are the hypocrite. Here u are trying to comfort me...and presuming to understand my pain in having to see my love like this...when u r the one who indirectly got him into this mess in the first place!" and the precedent is already set by the dialogue with the inspector and DK.
The inspector tells DK about Archana and who she says Arjun is...and clearly says he doesn't understand how he can be DKs sone and came to be a car mechanic at the same time. Again notice Purvi's face at this. This whole thing was Purvi's way of telling her Aai...you can forbid me to meet him...but neither can u force me to stop loving him...and this is the most important part...u can't force me to make u my confidant and friend again either. Indeed, it is obvious that Purvi has slowly crossed over. She no longer thinks Archana can do no wrong or take any wrong decision. She will NOT meet Arjun as per Archana's whim...and makes that clear by her very manner. She is polite and respectful to Archana...but that is it. She is not going to confide her feelings, pain, or what is in her heart to Archana...and in fact...I thought...made crystal clear today that Archana lost that sense of closeness with her...perhaps forever. Now she will be respected as a parent...but kept at army's length...Purvi's unwillingness to show Archana her pain and grief is telling in and of itself. No doubt about it.
So again..."Shyamala...as usual...u r right...100%!!!" 👏
