Dear Arch and Bee, whatever excuses you make for Arjun, they are not going to fly, at least not for me, alas!😭

I am pasting what I wrote on Trish's thread here:
Just finished watching the Arjun Ovi scene (refuse to watch anything else of today's epi) and he did not seem reluctant at all, his exact words were "mein chaahkar bhi nahi aa paaya" meaning "I could not come with you (to Goa) even though I wanted to" and then adds that "unfortunately" at the end - sounds like a very unreluctant fiance to me! 😡 I re-wound and watched it 3 times - not just "chaahtha tho bhi nahi aapaatha" but "chaahkar bhi nahi aa paaya" - that is betrayal of all the feelings he allegedly harbors for Purvi. I truly wish Purvi gets over this two faced cheat. If he was making an automatic response as you suggest he was, he would have chosen to say the former not use the latter phrase. Yes, it might be the screw-up of the CVs but the phrase is attributed to Arjun and he does not come across in a good light at all.
Ovi's "bayboo" made me want to puke and her insistence that after they get married he is going to give her his undivided attention, makes her sound a little retarded - is the man not supposed to work at all? he is supposed to be fawning and doting on her dawn to night - that will be his sole purpose in life? What a dimwit. 😡
I am done with this idiocy. The CVs may try to re-create the magic and might bring ARVI together with all the fireworks they can muster but to me the fire is already doused, and the cracks though mended will always be visible. Arjun is just not the guy we imagined him to be - he is weak, he is two-faced, he is stringing along two girls, hopefully not Purvi any more, and he is plain annoying - as annoying as his bayboo girlfriend!!
As for Archana, words fail me, she deserves all the thrashing and trashing from Savita as she seems to relish the flagellation🤢

Oh Janhvi 🥺 I can feel your frustration 😭

This is a show that, unfortunately 90% of the time, undermines trust and respect. They are more concerned with pride and ego. I do think that the CVs are unsure how to handle this three blind mice situation (Arjun-Purvi-Ovi). They botched it up so badly in the beginning and felt the backlash from the audience that they are trying to tread on a somewhat middle ground.

There is no feeling between ARVI scenes anymore because I feel they want to shift focus for a while... setting up the dominoes so to speak.

I agree with you on the magic though - the fire is almost out... not even burning embers 😔

Laurie, I can understand that the CVs need to stretch this for all it is worth for some reason, but they need to be consistent and careful even with the choice of words. Arjun's words to Ovi should be monitored carefully by the CVs if they have any intention of igniting at least some of the magic between him and Purvi.
So true on the fire is out, no burning embers evenCry If there were embers, they could be fanned into flames, the fire has been doused once by the CVs with their callous disregard for proper characterization.

Agreed!

They totally ruined him and he had so much potential too.

Its like they were rubbing two sticks together (ARVI) and didn't think it would make a spark. When it did, they dropped it and the flames went out 👎🏼

Dear Namita,

It is so good of you to write in with such warm praise. I need all the moral uppers I can get, to cope with this increasingly meaningless serial and the harakiri that the leads seem to be committing, mainly Archana and Arjun.

You know, I am beginning to feel that ll this is taking far too heavy a toll of our time and our emotions. One should have been far more sceptical in the beginning itself, and should never have believed that a Balaji serial could be actually and consistently fresh and young and sensitive. You see, the old guard among the CVs have taken over once again, and have ousted the younger, far brighter lot who gave us those marvellous Arjun-Purvi scenes. Now we are in for the old melodrama of PR I all over again.

The trouble is that the younger lot had hooked us good and proper, and so we cannot now walk away, shaking the dust of this ragged, dilapidated PR from our feet for good. We cannot let go of the hope that perhaps, just perhaps, the charming, appealing Arjun-Purvi scenes might come back again. It is an addiction of a different kind from drugs, but just as hard to shake off. In PR I, I never really cared for any of the characters, and the mess ups never touched me. It is not the same now with Arjun-Purvi, more is the pity.

Maybe tomorrow I will attempt an omnibus response to all the very detailed reactions that have come in to my original Doldrums piece - it was for all the world like the ripples across still water when you throw a stone into it, such varied and tenaciously argued posts that were a real pleasure to read ! Let us see if I can dredge up any optimism for the immediate future, though I doubt it.

Thanks again, and warm regards.

Shyamala

Hi Shyamala: As usual a very insightful and delightful write-up. We, at the forum, really look forward to all your analytical and well written posts. Wish I could write half as well as you. Thanks again for keeping the Pavitra Rishta forum going so well.

As for the show itself the less I talk about it the better.
Again, well-done and keep it coming, my dear

Excellent post Shyamala .
The story is simply ridiculous .
Manav's love for Archana is absolutely fake and Archana is the biggest irritating fool ...Horrible how they play the song ' Pavitra Rishta' for them ...
Every single character is bakwaas . Only liking Sulochna .

Dear Darlyne,

Many, many thanks for the very kind words.

However, it is Archana's post that should be highlighted and, if at all possible, brought to the attention of the CVs (to hope that Ekta Kapoor, who must be busy trying to hang on the payment for the telecast rights of The Dirty Picture, which was stalled by the Govt., is going to read our posts is being way too optimistic!).

I say this not out of any sense of misplaced modesty, for like Hercule Poirot, I have none when it is my work that is concerned. I say this because Archana's post does not present just general criticism, which can be easily brushed aside. It is, on the contrary, a very cogently and tightly argued thesis: that the CVs are making Arjun and Purvi seem not angry or hurt or even disillusioned with each other, but almost indifferent to each other, and that this would amount to killing the goose that laid all those golden TRP eggs.

If you have any idea of how to bring Archana's post to the attention of the CVs, I am sure all of us would be grateful to you, and I am also sure Archana would oblige as well and do whatever she has to do.

Dear Tanyaz,

Thanks ever so much for such kind words.

I think we have to think of some way to insulate ourselves from the depressing miasma that PR is spreading all around us. Walking away from it would be the simplest, but as I wrote to namita above, that is not a very easy option. It was for me with PR I at one point, but Arjun-Purvi is something else, and hope springs eternal, alas!

Dear vgiri (what else can I call you, my dear?)

You are being WAY too optimistic. Ovi is not going to connect any dots that will not suit her.

She might eventually talk to Arjun about the anonymous call(s), but with the sole intent of getting him to deny everything, absolutely and categorically. This even the present version of Arjun Kirloskar would be unable to do, and the end result would be interesting.

Especially if the ever resourceful Punni finds a safe way to telling Ovi that the girl in question is Purvi. If she does manage to do that, the odds will be even that Ovi will simply not believe her. It would be beyond her comprehension that such a simply got up, workaholic girl could ever charm her 'baby'. That is what is called a convenient lack of imagination!

I feel Ovi will connect the dots.I see her insecure feeling. Why do I feel happy about that..
Regarding ARVI, It feels like all the effort I put in to burn the camp fire is all gone by a sudden rain.

Laurie,

I take a bow; thanks a ton for the compliment.

But it is
you who should be taking a bow for this song; so perfect a fit, not for the jaded and washed out Arjun-Purvi as they are now in PR, but perhaps for your Arjun-Purvi in The Raging Storm.

I do agree that hope springs eternal, but if you talk of love being in the air and faintly but slowly wafting towards us, it is NOT going to be in PR. Not with Purvi thinking of nothing else but her aai-baba, and Arjun trying only to keep Ovi in a state of blissful ignorance for a most unconvincing reason, and sinking steadily deeper into quicksand in the process.

All our hopes are thus pinned on your magnum opus, but don't let the weight of our collective expectations become an added burden as you wrestle with the pains of authorship. Take it easy, and all will be more than well, for you and for us.

Ladies, I love your brilliant minds! ❤️

Happy to be among such esteemed company! 👏

The events leading up to today's episode can be summed up in song for me. One of my faveys from a band called Journey...

'It's been a mystery
And still they try to see
Why something good can hurt so bad,

Caught on a one way street
The taste of bittersweet
Love will survive somehow, some way

One love feeds the fire
One heart burns desire
Wonder who's crying now

Two hearts born to run
Who'll be the lonely one
Wonder who's crying now

So many stormy nights
So many wrongs or rights
Neither could change their headstrong ways

And in a lover's rage
They tore another page
The fighting is worth the love they'll save'

So take heart dear friends - hope springs eternal 😉

Love is in the air - faint but slowly wafting towards you...

Waiting to wrap you in its everlasting embrace :)

The worse PR gets, the juicier and delightful all your various comments get. Most times the comments are more entertaining than the telecasts Thanks much.
