I know that this thread is meant to discuss serious stuff, but I really can't express how excited I am to know this! I have always had an interest in psychology, (I'm doing MBBS, and often wondered if I should try and be a psychiatrist- seems to be a very intriguing field)
Read your posts in other thread too. Very thought provoking ones they were. In your answer to sherma di's post above too, I agree with many points. Archana shouldn't really be forced. Yesterday when she was asked to slap Manav, what did she do later?- she BURNED her hand. This girl is crossing all limits when it comes to Manav. Marriage to any other guy is a strict no no for her right now.
I hope you'll keep posting now!!!
PS: Is there any shorter name we can address you by? 😆

Hi there! I'm glad you enjoy my posts. I enjoy your ideas and suggestions too. I frequent these forums quite often, but don't get the chance to post because I'm busy, but I'll try to post more often, just for you kay?😉

Psychology is a wonderful field to study, and it makes a lot of money too considering how much attention mental health is getting nowadays.

Psychology and Psychiatry are just as different as Dermatology and Pediatrics. Psychologists deal with mental health issues stemming from a behavioral standpoint, whereas psychiatrists deal with mental health issues stemming from a chemical imbalance in the brain standpoint to put it simply.

You can refer to me as Sere =)

If she really loves her daughter, she should break the engagement and get her daughter to a therapist instead of trapping her in this loveless marriage. She had pulled her daughter out of Manav's home when he was found to be characterless, caring two hoots about tradition and stuff. Why can't she do the same now, sayng that beta if you are feeling strangulated in this marriage, break it, I will support you????
NIKITA GREAT POST. She did twice stop Arch from going to Manav, first time soon after marriage and the second time after the slap session outside Manav's house. She came across as a progressive mother who would go against society for her daughter.

@sere: whoa! another interesting point! Thanks for putting it across in such simple words. Someone had tried to explain to me long back, but I hadn't understood clearly then.
Hmm... then I guess am more interested in psychology not psychiatry. 😆 But then even neurology is highly interesting.😆
anyhow... I'm glad you have read some of my posts.
Do keep posting, its nice to read different POV's and debate on them.

didn't read all the comments but my take is

sulo is right in expecting her daughter to get married. But not allowing her daughter to make a dignified decision in life for herself is wrong. After the jail fiasco, archana should have broken the rishta with jaywant and sulo should have supported her. Instead Sulo emotionally blackmailed archana intom marrying jaywant. Leave love.....the girl doesn't respect the man and does not identify with any of his characteristics. She has been cheated and lied by this man. Sulo should have atleast understood that the foundation of the relationship between jaywant and archana is extremely weak for it to sustain with happiness.

Manav's role should have only been to discuss with archana about marriage and no more. His shart was overboard. I don't think manav caring about archana's future was wrong.....if he was moving on in life....he should have wanted archana to move too and live life with happiness instead of hanging onto him all his life.

Archana should have been given time by both sulo and manav....neither did and thats where they both were wrong. Archana is emotionally and physically not ready for a relationship such as marriage and it can have consequential effects on her.

About society.....i think sulo should have given more prerogative to archana's happiness than what ten people say. Sulo should have just told her if you don't want to marry now......don't but try to emotionally disconnect yourself from manav. Thats what a mother should have done for her daughter if she really understood her.

Sulo has best in her heart......but her decisions and thinking is as bad as manav and archana's.

Sulochana's character in a nutshell "Sulo has best in her heart.......but her decisions and thinking is as bad as manav and archana's."

Glad you agree with us =)

Sulochna is right in worrying about her faughter's future but when her daughter is so much in love with someone else then it is not right that she should be forced in a marriage where she doesn't even respects her future husband .
Not only Sulochna , even Manav was wrong in putting conditions on Archana and forcing her to get married .

Sherma sweety, I am not trying to disregard your opinion as I understand where you're coming from, but I am going to be factual here. I am a psychology student, so please don't take my opinions the wrong way.

The Karanjkar family is trying to be good to Archu, but are suffocating her in the process. Archana has obviously not gotten over the failure of her marriage, and pushing her into a marriage that she is not ready for will not help, it will suppress the grief and be a cause for chronic depression, and a whole host of other mental disorders. When faced with a tragedy, no matter what it is, the loss of a parent, the death of a child, the death of a spouse, the end of a marriage, heck even the death of a pet!, it is crucial to grieve before trying to move on. Think about it, if someone was 14 weeks along in their pregnancy, and had a miscarriage, would they try for another baby right away? Maybe, but if they do that miscarriage will haunt them for the rest of their lives, thinking that they replaced their lost child with another, and will either never be able to love their child or smother them and spoil them so they can't make any productive decisions in life.

Archana already has suicidal/self-harm tendencies that are the screaming for help 'Please get me some help, some therapy'. If Sulochana really loved her daughter and was trying to do whatever she could to keep her daughter safe and happy, she would have gotten her daughter therapy, not shoved her into an unwanted marriage.

As far as marrying a would-be-rapist, Vandu didn't want to marry him, she was blackmailed by Ajit and his mom. I don't condone it, in fact I strongly oppose such decisions, I'm just reminding you of what happened in the show.

Yup she definitely has suicidal tendencies .. she has already tried to end her life before .. and yesterday she burned her hand ...
The k's know all this .. they know her state of mind ... while I agree with kools post about sulo being a typical mom taking decisions within the social framework etc.. I feel sulo should just back off for a while ..
Surely sulo and mano would prefer a spinster archana over a dead archana ????
Her family is going to drive her to suicide one of these days...
And who says a woman needs a man to complete her???
Why cant archana just take up a teaching job in primary school, adopt a kid and live with her parents? ... I think she would make a great mom ....
Is that such a bad life to have ???

P.S - seri .. are u a kannadiga??
