Remember that there are some things in your kitchen cupboards that can be helpful in helping with sore throat.
Salt water gargle....Salt acts as a mild antiseptic, and also draws water out of inflamed mucous membranes in the throat, which helps to clear phlegm(spelling?). Dissolve a half-teaspoon salt in a glass of warm water, gargle and spit out. Repeat up to four times a day. I don't like salt water gargle.
The other is honey... It has antibacterial properties, which can help speed healing. Add several teaspoons to 1 cup of hot water or herbal tea or even your regular tea. I don't like the taste of honey so I don't use this.
The other is turmeric powder. It has the same properties as honey. Make a loose paste of turmeric with honey and lick it and let the throat coat with this mixture. This does wonders for me.
Ecnicea (spelling?)This herb's antibacterial and antiviral properties will speed healing. My husband takes this along with the turmeric powder therapy.
Drink plenty of warm/hot water. It not only soothes the throat but also keeps it from drying. Dry throat hurts more.
Try one of these Kool before the onset of a dragging sore throat.
Hope that you guys will feel better in a day........

honey and lime/lemon is also good for sore throat.....

Hi Varsha,
curshed Aspirin? I will definitely try this next time. How did you discover this? Does Aspirin numb the pain or something?
Fifi, Yes, my brother's wife's side, they use this remedy with honey, lime/lemon.
My SIL used to say that when they were young and their throats were bad, they used to eat lots of goal guppa's and the water of the goal guppa actually did wonders for their sore throats. So there is something about the sourness killing the throat germs.....I can't try this as I hate straight lime/lemon in concentration. But your remedy is 100% true.
We should have a medicine cabinet thread especially at this time of the year.

Thanks Varsha.

I made Tinda sabji with onions (half and half as I did not have enough Tinda). It came out really good, the flavour of the onions really made my taste buds work overtime.😆😆😆😆
I also made Aloo gobi. I always put grated ginger towards the end of the cooking. It takes delicious. Again, I had forgotten to put ginger in the tarka so the grated ginger was going to waste. I threw it in the more than half cooked sabji. Sometimes, thngs just turn out good with fluke and we learn the trick.
Kool hope that you and your family are feeling better.
I love aloo curry. Kool, is your's made in a maharastran way?
Fifi, how do you make it?
I make mine by boiling the potatoes (peeled and cut into squares) and throw them in my curry. The curry is made by first sauting onion garlic and ginger until slightly brown. throw in large pieces of chopped green hot pepper. Add turmeric power, salt, red pepper and deghi mirch to give the red color. then throw in crushed tomatoes. Once it comes to a boil, throw the boiled potatoes and stir and let it simmer on very low heat. throw in handful of chopped fresh coriander leaves. I like it bit sour so I squeeze in the lime/lemon.
