It's not being second to her that's the problem, it's the prioritization. I can't really explain it. We'll see.
I haven't gone through the previous pages to read the built up to this discussion, so I'm just jumping in. Lemme know if I'm interpreting anything wrong.
Yes, Babita is a mother and her first priority will always be Minnie. But her being a mother doesn't exempt her from being a woman. She too, has her own wants and desires. She too, will have certain expectations that she will want HS to fulfill as her man.
So far we have seen HS fulfill his duties as Minnie's dad. We have that relationship solidified and we know just how far he will go for her. Bit what about Babes? What is he willing to do for her? What is she willing to do for him? How do they even equate with one another as lovers? As husband and wife? In this relationship, Minnie cannot be a factor. This is a relationship between a husband and a wife. If you involve Minnie in any way, then it no longer becomes that. It instead becomes one of a parent and child.
There will be times when Babita wants to spend some time alone with HS and HS will have to give that to her. Minnie cannot interfere or start hogging him. Yes, she has been craving a father her whole life and now that she has finally gotten one, she will be soaking up all his love. But let's not forget that Babes has also been craving for a husband. She wants (and needs) that intimacy that only a warm, loving husband can provide. If HS starts giving in to Minnie everytime she wants to spend time with him over Babes, then she's bound to feel neglected.
I'm not a mother so I don't understand the exact depth of those feelings, but I genuinely don't think that being a mother is the sole defining factor of a woman. And haven't we been saying that she needs a life outside of Minnie? So let Babes explore what that side is. Who is Babita? What is Babita, the wife like? What kind of lover is she? What kind of woman is she?
I know I'm emphasizing on the womanly aspect a lot, but that's what I can best identify with at the moment. Before becoming a mom, Babes is a woman. And I refuse to believe that upon getting a child, that the woman ceases to exist.
