PART 6:

“Come on, dance with your brand new Sister-in-law” Raavi winked at Shiva.

He rolled his eyes, but started dancing with her anyway. This is more fun than her sangeet dance. She could feel the chemistry which is always demanded by the dance show judges. She likes to continue dance with him, but alas it is about four person’s life and yes that fourth person is Rishita’s fiancé.

‘Of course’ her heart sounded sarcastic. She decided to focus on the task at the hand.

Raavi looked around and confirmed that no one is paying them any attention now. Without stopping dancing, she pulled him behind a pillar and looked out again whether anyone noticed their absence. But, everybody is enjoying themselves and Dev too is looking down.

She turned and gasped once she realized their position. She had pushed him against a pillar and her both hands are tightly gripping his shoulders. They both are panting heavily due to their dancing and she could feel his hot breath on her face since she is almost pressed against him. Well, caging him was not her intention. She considered moving little away from him and gives him some space, but they are hiding. As per her knowledge from binge watching various hindi serials, hiding is defined as something which is done by couples by standing very close in a secluded place to avoid spotting from Villain.

‘Neither you both are couple nor your family is Villain’ her brain clarified in an irritating voice. She waited for her heart to come with some witty reply, but it seems to be in cloud nine and not paying much attention.

She calmed herself and loosed her grip on him. She looked up at him and found him still breathing hard with eyes wide. Does he have asthma? Not important now. Focus!

“What are you going to do?” She asked him.

“I am not going to do anything, I swear at least not before the marriage” He blurted quickly.

“What?” she asked shockingly.

“Are we not going to stop this marriage then?” she asked gritting her teeth. He blinked.

“Oh, that! Yeah, it’s done. Don’t worry” He gave a deep sigh and blushed. His hot breath grazed her with an added force. She should really move away from him, but it’s not uncomfortable - to her at least.

“What else were you talking about then?” she enquired.

“Huh… Hey look out, someone is coming” he pushed her and started moving out. She looked around and saw no one. Turning quickly, she pulled him back again to herself. She is angrier now. She moved more closely and caged him against the wall. But, his eyes are not showing any fear of caged person, on the contrary it looks predatory. They are dark and hungry. Does he not have any food, yet? She realized that he must have got no time to eat anything due to working on their plan and pouted. She noticed his eyes instantly looking down at her lips and something crossed his face quickly, but she could not pin point what that expression was. He pushed her off harshly and all her compassion for him gone in seconds.

“I am going to kill you Shiva. You were not attending my calls or giving me any update at all. You are not telling me what have you done so far or what should we do further. Don’t keep me in dark. We need to be in the same page, so that I don’t mess up your plan unknowingly. Do you have any idea how much I was suffering from morning. For god sake, this is my life you brothers are playing with…” she complained hitting at his chest continuously. He took hold of her wrist, but didn’t remove her palm away from him. His heart beat so fast that for one second, she wondered whether she hurt it by hitting too hard. She looked up at him to apologize, but found him looking at her with the same sorry look. All her anger vaporized at once. She noted that her feelings change in lightning speed within his radar.

“I am sorry” he whispered in a low voice.

‘Red alert! Red alert! look away, Raavi… quick… Don’t get lose in those eyes’ her mind shouted warnings.

‘Who can look away from that earnest face, you dumb? You are named brain for nothing’ her heart said in a smirking tone.

‘Oh come one, Raavi… don’t go for looks… he hates you and you know it’ her brain tried to explain.

‘From my experience, that look is definitely not of hatred. I could even take risk and call that as lo.’

‘Shut up for heaven sake! Stop misleading her. You know already she is a confused soul’ her brain interrupted.

What? Who are they calling as confused soul? When she chewed her lips thinking, he too chewed his lips involuntarily and that’s it.

Her trance broke immediately and she cursed herself for getting carried away easily. She removed her hand from him and looked down. He cleared his throat and composed himself. She could feel the tension between them disappearing. Wow… how could he change the whole mood within seconds?

“I brought Rishita from her mandap and her father will find about this anytime now. Her mother promised to cover as long as she can. But, we don’t have much time. Rishita is near only. Once you and Dev come to mandap, I will give her a call. She will reach here and shout at Dev for betraying her. She will plead him to break your alliance and marry her instead. I have told her to use as much as emotional blackmail she can pull off. ”

“But, what if Dev rejects her? Unlike you, he is a family guy and respect elders”

“Hey chipkali, I know about my brother. He is emotionally weak. He cannot hold for too long. He will break for sure. Anyway he must be already praying thousand different gods to save him from you. We are just going to serve him the solution in platter.” he stuck out his tongue.

She just rolled her eyes, but kept mum. Though she got angry, she realized that she liked this playful Shiva. You know the one who don’t make her crazy and cling on to him.

“Once I give you signal, you start your drama” he said in an authoritative tone.

“What drama?” she is confused.

“Your usual ones - crying, begging for attention or whatever you can do to stop Dev from going to Rishita” he stated flatly.

“Are you stupid, Shiva? Why should I do all those? Our plan is to get Dev and Rishita marry, right?” she asked in a confused tone.

He shook his head disapprovingly.

“Oh I see… now I get your point.” She squeaked.

“Good” he nodded.

“You want me to make fun of myself in front of our friends and families! Because you cannot sleep peacefully at nights if you don’t see me get insulted somehow” She declared. He turned around and started banging his head against the pillar. Is self-harming a symptom of Asthma?

She got panicked and stopped him. When she turned him back, he had a furious look.

“Have you gone made, Shiva?” she enquired.

“No, you are mad! You were roaming around the whole Somnath with an ‘I love Dev Pandya’ tag for a decade. Do you think anyone would believe if you stay quiet now?” he gritted.

She winced at his words, but he is absolutely right.

“Maybe they all would think me as a cool girl and admire my attitude” she suggested.

“Oye crybaby. You are not cool, but emotional fool and everyone here knows that.”

“That’s not true” she denied loudly.

“It is true. Dev had just an ice-cream with you and you decided that he is ready to eat food from your hands for the whole lifetime” he shouted.

She opened her mouth to argue back, but closed it sensing the lost battle. He smiled softly seeing her reluctance.

“That’s why I am telling… do some of your nautanki sans your ‘see my thirty two teeth smile’ and add some crying here & there. I know it’s tough for you and hence I have brought you a glycerin bottle, see” he took a small bottle from his pocket and shoved into my hands.

She felt offended.

“No, thank you. I can cry on my own. This is unnecessary. Since morning, I literally feel like I have water pipe instead of eyes.” She tried her best to act pity.

“We cannot be sure. What if your water pipe stopped working suddenly at the needful time like your brain always does?” he teased with a playful smile.

She gave him a murderous look and decided to let this pass for the time being. Anyway, he will be all hers once this marriage issue gets solve.

‘All hers?” her mind and heart exclaimed together, but the former with shock and the latter with joy.

“OMG! Maami is coming. Move away, chipkali” he again tried to fool her, but she is not going to fall for it this time. She is going to prove that she is not an emotional fool or any kind of fool. She folded her hands and raised an eyebrow. Let him feel the aroma of swag…

He rolled his eyes and pushed her away. She closed her eyes while falling, but two hands steadied her. She could not help but smile how he always saves her.

‘Yes! He never fails to save her’ her heart joined in.

‘He is the one pushing her in the first place, stupid’ her mind clarified.

She opened her eyes slowly and saw her mausi glaring at her. She turned around and could see Shiva running far without even a glance. She rolled her eyes in disappointment.

“Raavi… What are you still doing here? I thought you already went inside to your room.” Her mausi complained.

“Nothing. I was just talking with Shiva normally” she told casually. She decided to start developing her cool attitude.

“You were fighting with that kadoos again? Oh my god! This girl is fighting already with her sasural on her wedding day. What I am going to do? Please save my daughter” she looked up and started praying.

Raavi screamed, “What? We didn’t fight. I said we had a normal talk” All her cool gone in air already.

“Arrey… the whole Somnath knows about how you do ‘normal talk’ with him and I saw you both were standing too close. I know very well how your verbal fight leads to physical proximity always”

Raavi blinked. Is that so? It seems we always had physical proximity, but only she was too angry to notice it. Did he fail to notice too? Her thoughts are interrupted by her mausi’s words.

“But Raavi… let me give a piece of advice. Hereafter, please do stay away from him as much as you can” she told very seriously.

Raavi stopped herself from rolling her eyes. It’s just typical parental advice for all the brides.

“I understand. If I marry Dev, I will become bhabi to Shiva and it won’t look good if people see us close.” She recited like a poem nodding her head.

“Arrey, not that. I didn’t care much about your close proximity with him before because he was roaming like a Brahmachari and nothing seemed to affect him. But, now the case is totally different.”

“How different?” she is confused now. Her mausi face changed into various emotions in a minute that it almost felt like watching a commercial masala movie. She could identify only one emotion clearly – hesitation. Her mausi knows something about Shiva and wanted to share it with someone badly. Wow! Whatever the situation is she is always up for some juicy gossip. And if it is about Shiva, then it is like double treat!

“Oh, come on Mausi. You know you can tell me anything” she nudged.

“He is changed now” her mausi looked all around and whispered.

“Does it have anything to do with Asthma?” she could not help but ask.

“Huh?” her mausi looked at her like she has gone mad. When she smiled sheepishly at her mausi, she shook her head and pulled her near. She then started whispering in her ear “I saw him holding a girl closely before and I assure you I had never seen him happier before all these years.”

What? Who dared to stand close to her bhoothnath? Did she say he was looking happy? She grimaced and could feel her blood pressure going high.

She suppressed her anger as much as she can and enquired further “Who is she?”

“I didn’t see her face. It was fully covered with shawl. But, he said she is the prettiest girl in the whole somnath”, her mausi explained and her pressure calmed down.

“Did he look really happy, mausi?” she asked shyly.

“100 percent!” her mausi declared and she blushed. She felt the same butterflies again.

I need a help. Could you please tell me how Raavi calls her Mausi's husband? I don't know much about relations and they share very less screen space. Hence, unable to find it 😐
