Hi everybody. Meli, thanks for putting me in the hot seat;-) I had planned to go to work this morning before heading off to Australia tonight but am feeling a bit under the weather, so am at home and free to be grilled... So, here are my responses to Meli's questions.

How did you end up in IF?
I had missed a few episodes of Anandham during the party season late last year (i.e., just after noticing the dude on the show), so I googled my way to IF on 4 Jan 2007.

What is your original name?
Ha, I share a first name with Caryn (the Barbarian ;-); it's close to the Italian word for first.

What is your profession?
I am a researcher in international relations; absolutely boring stuff, so I need a second life in IF.

How long have you been in Singapore?
All my life

Your place of origin?
Singapore (I am a pukka, third generation Singaporean)

Why did you begin to watch Anandham in the first place?
I stumbled upon Anandham one evening when I was sitting at home alone and found nothing to watch on the Hallmark channel. The first episode seemed promising -- remarriage of a widow with child. Plus -- and this is going to annoy many Anandham viewers -- I do like Suganya. Subsequent episodes lived up to its promise of being progressive for a Tamil serial. Needless to say, the serial has gone downhill since then, what with ideas being borrowed from fan fiction ;-)

Have you always been interested to write story or this is just happened cause of ACD-Priya pair?
I started writing in my late teens -- nothing profound, just spilling out my feelings, aspirations, etc, on paper. I did write some short stories, which, looking back now, were so very childish ;-) I began writing my first ACD-Priya story in February, inspired by Madhu's fiction. My first story (a favourite, which I intend to rewrite someday with a Singaporean setting and additional themes close to my heart) was intended primarily to explore how ACD must have felt when he was told by Priya's father to forget her.

In answer to Usha Pooja's question, i.e., what I like about Saakshi Sivaa

I had missed many episodes of Anandham earlier and seriously paid attention to Saakshi Sivaa only in December last year. The episode that gripped my attention was the one where his aunt throws herself off the cliff so that her nephew can maintain his integrity as a police officer. I have a nephew I am very close to and somehow that episode tugged at my heart strings even though Anandham hardly dwelt on the bond between nephew and aunt. Subsequently, I noticed a tall, good-looking hunk with a commanding presence and stylish mannerisms. Then, I noticed a versatile actor who can switch from good cop to bad hat. Now I see a warm, unassuming, humble human being.

Aarrgghh!!! Meli!!! Heaven help. OK, will try.

Your nicknames: Bonheur is French for Anandham

Your favourite type of flowers are: Roses (but, of course), lilies, sunflowers, pansies. Confession: there was a time, in my younger, tomboy days, when I hated flowers.

What do you hate eating? Durian

Your favourite hobby? Netsurfing, what else?

What time is it now? 11.30 am in Singapore, 9 am in India, 11.30 on the US east coast (which I sorely miss)

Your favourite colour? Blue, Black

Your favourite alphabet? I like the arabic alphabet 'cos the word alphabet comes from arabic (alif, ba, tha)

ur favourite chocolate? Godiva (the Belgian ones, not the American ones), Nestle, Suchard, Cote d'Or, Lindt, Cadbury's

You go to sleep at... no earlier than 12, often as late as 3 at weekends

1. What is your first memory? Dad teaching me the alphabet while passing bars selling ABC Beer ;-)

tend to vote? If not, why don't you care? Vote? I've hardly had the chance to vote in Singapore, with the group representation system, which is a big hurdle for opposition parties. It's been walkovers for some time in my constituency. I do care about American politics. I couldn't sleep the night before the US elections. Am dying for 20 Jan 2009, when the incumbent will leave office for good. I rooted for Gore in 2000

5. What type of places do you hang out in with your friends? The Hyatt in Singapore

6. What type of places do you hang out in with your family? At home

8. What's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? the smiles of the poor, the destitute, the hungry
