Confused...shocked and saddened on hearing this news.
I remember Sai Prasanth's cute chubby face from "Muhurtham" really well.
Hard to believe that he is no more.

I don't know why a Nadigar Sangam is in place when they don't offer psychological and moral support to their working colleagues in mental distress.
It is sad that despite so many suicides in the tv industry, no one has tried to publicly address this issue and help those in need.

I'm in shock. He was only 30 years old.
This could have been prevented.

Redemption-chapter 82

Just as they found an empty table near a open window,where they could sit and talk in peace and out of earshot from others dining at the cafeteria,Kannan the hospital security chief came towards their group and wished rudran and enquired about his mother and babu.

After he had left they all sat and waited for their coffees to arrive and that is when rudran looked at christopher ' Mr.adams,i think you have seen me before although we have never met for that is something which i never forget.When malati mentioned your name and your surname adams,i recognised it to but i was not sure if you belonged to the same family and when i added the private jet and new york,that kind of confirmed to which family you belong to.'

Christopher adams looked at rudran and then with the same astonished look turned to his wife malati and fell silent.

Rudran ' I was in Israel at that time for higher training in counter terrorism and i was part of an elite batch that consisted of top cops from a few countries.Honestly,i did not expect to see any action and neither did i want to for i was there to learn on how to operate behind the scenes and on how to co-ordinate with our indian army when they are specifically handling insurgents from across the borders.'

Rudran looked at all three of them staring at him and he went on ' i cannot divulge too many details on what happened and how it happened.We were on the final leg of our training when your parents and few other united nations members from europe were kidnapped by a rogue group in Iraq and the whole thing soon became a mess.Although we were still in training we were asked to join the team of negotiater's and so me and my team members found ourselves right in the middle of the action.Well,i and the people who were involved in the operation till date do not know why i was chosen to meet the terrorist group and maybe because i looked like the rookie i was and also because i was not white.Well,i went,negotiated and got the prisoners released.That is the story of the photo your parents took with me during their release.'

Malati looked at Rudran ' I am not sure of what happened here in this hospital which resulted in the death of my father but i am sure that it has something to do with what happened to him from the time he purchased those old paintings in an auction.He never divulged the complete details to either me or mum and i am still clueless about this whole thing.I am going to be in chennai for a few months until mother is totally recovered and then i am thinking of taking her with me to america for i can't imagine her being on her own here.'

'Rudran,when you have time,do drop in to our place and go through dad's files and specially those paintings for i am sure there is a clue to this whole sad affair.'

Rudran promised he would drop in when time permitted and then he and renuka took leave of malati and her husband.

Christopher looked at his wife ' malati,do you think it happened exactly as rudran explained to us?'

Malati shook her head ' no,but i am sure he had his reasons for not telling us the truth for probably it is highly classified and buried in some archive.'

The ambulance carrying his mother and babu had already left with its army guardians and rudran and renuka got into his vehicle to follow them to the army quarters.

Buddha jumped in and nudged rudrans head with his muzzle and rudran 'okay,okay.I am switching on the air conditioner right now.' and starting the car switched on the ac and set the blower to full blast.

Renuka 'rudran,how did you know that buddha wanted the air conditioner turned on?'

Rudran who hadn't thought of it looked at renuka with a smile and then turned to buddha ' that's right big fella,how did i know that you wanted the ac turned on?'

When no reply came from the huge dog,rudran looked at renuka ' Don't laugh when i say this but i heard buddha whisper in my head.asking me to turn on the AC and i just did it.'

Both of them sat in silence and then she looked at him ' what really happened there during the rescue mission.For i am sure it did not happen like the way you put it so simply.From what i have seen of you and heard about you,things are not simple when you are in the given situation.so,what did happen there?'

Rudran placed his hands on the steering wheel and stared into the distance as if he was staring at the past being flashed before his very eyes.

' Honestly,everything seems like a blur now as it was then.I was sent in to negotiate after being selected by the video conference call which took place between the terrorists and our team and i went totally unarmed.We were under the assumption that the terrorists were at least twenty or thirty in number when in reality they were just eight of them,but all heavily armed.I was pushed around a bit,slapped and punched which was okay but then they threatened to kill a young man before my very eyes and something snapped in me and i attacked the leader of the group and took him hostage and made the rest of his group to lay down their weapons and then tied them up and brought home the people who had been kidnapped and taken hostage.'

Rudran started the car and slowly left the hospital and headed towards the army quarters to see over the arrangements that had been made for his mother and Babu.

In the backseat buddha sat calmly as he knew what had really taken place when rudran had saved those hostages.

When the terrorist groups leader had put a gun to the young mans head,something had snapped in rudran and he had exploded into action.He had moved so quickly and everything was over in a few blinding seconds.

Rudrans right hand had punched into the leaders throat and as he dropped the gun and clutched at his throat,rudran took the machine gun and shot dead the three men who were inside the cave and then went outside and had taken car of the rest of the men.

Since the prisoners were all blindfolded and kneeling on the ground,none of them saw what had happened and the whole incident was quietly buried but not before rudran was grilled by his Israeli trainers and after many sessions they put it down to sheer luck on rudrans part.

Buddha knew that luck had no part to play in what had happened and what was going to happen.But until the man was woken from his sleep,he had to be the first line of defence against what was coming towards them.

Wednesday

It is a Wednesday and as always it is like any other day
one day in a week,a passing of time,life split into chunks and bits
compartmentalized for the sake of sanity of us humans
and yet we have no control over what each compartment will bring
things change,from life to death in one minute and birth the next minute
my time is in the light of the sun and in the night without the light
But for us humans everything else is life with day or the night

Redemption-chapter 83


It was late in the afternoon by the time Rudran finished settling his mother in the army quarters and taking Babu aside told him that he was going to madurai to fulfill the late sadashivam's wishes and that he would be back in a few days.

He stopped at col.vasant's cabin and thanked him personally and requested him to watch over his mother and Babu.

Col.vasant assured him that even a passing bird overhead would have to take their permission before flying over his mothers cabin and told him not to worry and take care of himself.

Driving out of the army headquarters a rumble from his stomach alerted that both their tummies were empty and since the hotel le meridien was just down the road,Rudran and renuka decided to take in the lunch buffet there.

Parking the car in the underground basement rudran turned to Buddha who was lying calmly in the backseat and then getting out and opening the boot took two bowls and filled one with water and the other with pedigree dog food and placed it next to the car and leaving the rear doors open left to join renuka for lunch.

But before that both went into the washrooms and washed their faces and feeling fresher and better entered the dining area and piling their plates with food sat down and stuffed themselves without a word for a few minutes.

Rudran looked at Renuka and then at his food and noticing it she asked him what he was thinking.

Rudran ' I don't know why but the food tastes better and more importantly i feel more alive than i have ever felt before.The world seems sharper and clearer and i feel a lot calmer than i have ever felt before.'

Renuka felt a tug at her heart for it gave her great joy to see him so relaxed and importantly by her side.

She looked at him ' Rudran,i need you to do something for me.Both my students have been released and they are back home recovering from the trauma that fell on them.I am planning to go see them and i want you to be there with me when i talk to them.'

Rudran nodded ' sure.I would be happy to come along with you.'

Renuka took out her mobile and after making a couple of calls looked at rudran ' I spoke to the girls parents and they said it is okay to go visit them but later in the evening.'

She looked at her watch ' it is only 3.00 pm now.so after lunch we can go to the beach,spend some time there and then go visit the girls.what do you think?'

Rudran wiped his lips with a napkin ' ma'am,i am at your service.Point and i shall follow.'

Half an hour later,since the traffic was light they reached Besantnagar beach and the blue waters of the bay of bengal beckoned to them and this time buddha tagged along with them.

The three sat down and stared at the vast sea as the cool,salty air caressed them softly and then rudran felt renuka nudging him with her elbow and pointed to a couple sitting about twenty feet away.Both of them had their faces covered with the dupatta of the woman.

Renuka with a smile ' police sir,what are both of them doing with their faces covered with a dupatta?'

Rudran ' It is rude to stare at people when they are deep in conversation.'

Renuka with her eyes on him slowly removed the dupatta that covered her beautiful head and shoulders ' conversation.I just wonder what topic it is that they are so seriously discussing about with a cloth around their heads.'

Rudran looked at her mischief filled eyes ' renuka ma'am.It is an offence to be doing what they are doing and what many other couples on the beach are doing.'

Just as he finished saying it he saw a couple of police constables in plainclothes going around harassing the couples on the beach and grew furious when he saw them taking money from the frightened couples.

He told renuka to stay quiet while he handled them and both continued to sit and enjoy the cool and damp air that lifted of the sea and flowed towards them.

Fifteen minutes later,the shadow of the two constables fell on them and one spoke in a harsh voice ' what are both of you doing here?'

Renuka couldn't help it and looked at them ' can't you see that we are having a great time here on the beach.Such a lovely,cool breeze.'

The other constable irritatedly ' this is a public place.'

Rudran with a smile on his face listened to renuka ' Of course this beach is a public place and i doubt if any politician can ever buy a beach.so,yes we know the beach is a public place.But why are you telling that to us.'

The constables were lost for a reply and then used the usual and last tactic ' okay,both of you need to come with us to the station and explain yourselves to the sub-inspector.'

Renuka looked at them innocently ' station to meet the sub-inspector.why is there some party being organised by the sub-inspector.Sorry.but we are busy right now.maybe some other time.'

The constables should have known better and walked away but with their egos hurt,one of them raised his voice and threatened ' either come to the station or pay us to walk away.'

Renuka's face lit up with shock and then the naughty smile returned ' don't trouble yourselves with a sub-inspector for you can complain directly to the Assistant commissioner here.'

Rudran got up and dusting his pants turned and faced the two police constables.

There is a stare,a look which only cops have,a kind of steel in the eyes that sense and understand danger and they recognise it in other cops just as a criminal easily recognises a cop.

Rudran looked at both of them ' i can understand if any of the couples that come to the beach have sex or if any prostitution is happening,for that is a crime in a public place.But harassing and taking money from innocent couples is the same as rowdies collecting mamool and the same as taking bribes.'

He took his mobile out ' i am going to call the commissioner right now and in a few minutes a flying squad of the vigilance dept will be here and you can explain to them what you were doing here.'

He took out his police ID and flashed it to them 'okay,you have seen my Id.Now,i want you to show your ids.come on,right now.'

The two constables panicked and one started mumbling ' Id,no id.we left it at home.'

Those were the only words that came out of his mouth for in blinding speed,rudran's hand slapped his face and the man crumpled to the ground and rudran grabbed the other man before he could escape and held him by his neck in a bone crushing grip.

Rudran looked at renuka ' ma'am,these are not real cops and just two criminals posing as constables.Tell me what do we do with them.'

By now a small crowd had gathered around them and started abusing the two men and soon a flying patrol vehicle arrived and the head constable of the party immediately recognised who rudran was for he had been the first team to respond to the call from global hospitals a few days ago.Although he was not totally sure who rudran was,it was enough that he and the police commissioner were good friends.

The police team arrested both the men who were making money posing as cops in plainclothes.But before they could be taken away.rudran requested the head constable that they return the money that was taken from the many young couples who had come to the beach just to be with each other.

After the police team had left dragging the two criminals, a couple of girls boldly came up to rudran and asked for his mobile number.

Renuka glared at them and raised her voice ' hello,this guy is my husband.If you are so desperate then keep searching and maybe you might find someone for yourselves.'

Watching the people leave renuka muttered ' what bloody cheek.'

She stared at rudran,who raised his hands in protest and then both burst out laughing and left the beach to go visit renuka's students.

Redemption-chapter 84

The first stop was in Alwarpet and since the flat was in a small and busy street,Rudran told renuka that it would be better to park a few streets away where it was less crowded and walk it from there.Just as both of them got out of the car,Buddha too jumped out and they understood that he was going to come along with them.

When they reached the apartment building,Rudran looked at renuka ' i hope it is all right for him being with us.But if it becomes a problem then i will leave him downstairs with the security guy near the car parking area.I doubt if anyone will object to that and moreover we are not going to be here for a very long time.'

Renuka looked at Buddha ' Mister big doggy,i hope you heard that.So,in case there is a problem i hope you understand,for i think you can understand every word that is spoken around you.'

Buddha grunted a growl and both rudran and renuka looked at each other ' yes,i think he understands.'

The apartment complex was a five storeyed building and it was the type that fell into the middle class and upper middle class bracket.Hard working,simple people who just wanted to work,live in peace and quietly fade out were the typical inhabitants of such constructions and it was the same in this building which had a faded board announcing the name of the constructer.Like the fade board the building too was showing signs of old age and yet it still held on to life as if it wanted to hang on for the sake of the people who trusted its bricks and cement.

The minute they entered the premises,Buddha's presence was immediately noticed by all the children who were playing there in the car parking lot.

Not daunted by his huge size,many of the kids slowly came and stood and watched them enter their compound and all their eyes were on the dog and the dog only.

They did not know his name,but true to his name he sat and looked at all of them and in a matter of few seconds the kids were touching him,stroking him and cuddling him.

They asked rudran what he was called and when told his name,Buddha,Buddha were the only words that one could make out in all the noise and confusion.

Rudran told the security guy that they were going to meet someone on the first floor and requested him to keep an eye on buddha.

The man looked at rudran funnily ' sir,does that dog really need someone to keep an eye on him.'

But as they climbed each step,rudran's and renukas hearts were being filled with pain and sadness when they thought of the girl they had come to visit.

Rudran stepped back and stood behind renuka as she rang the doorbell and it was opened by a middle aged lady who was the mother of the girl and she quietly invited them in and asked them to be seated while she went and informed her daughter that they were here.

While they waited rudran heard the noises the kids were making around buddha and thought to himself,just a floor below there is so much joy and up here it is as if death has come to live inside these four walls.A terrible anger rose in his soul and he wished that he could have been there while they were being kidnapped for then this terrible tragedy wouldnt have visited this house.

They both heard the noise of a door opening and closing and then this young girl came towards them,timid,nervous and with varied emotions painted on her face.

Renuka stood up and rushed towards the girl and hugged her close to herself and the tears came,the tears flowed along with the sadness and renuka whispered ' I am so sorry sumathi.I am really sorry for what has happened to both of you.'

Sumathi still in renukas arms whispered ' what could you have done ma'am.please dont be sorry for in a way i am happy that nothing happened to you.I am thankful for that.'

All three of them turned to see the front door swing open and as Buddha slowly made his way towards them but he went straight for sumathi who was astonished to see such a huge dog entering her house.

Wiping her tears,she looked into buddha's eyes and kept staring as if she was hypnotised by him.

Both rudran and renuka did not see what happened but they felt it in the air, a vibration and it felt as if the whole place was electrically charged.

Deep in buddhas soul, a green aura rose and they flickered in his eyes and sumathi saw the strange light dancing in the dogs eyes and then she felt the rush of energy flowing into her.

I am Buddha.I come from the light and i always come when he arrives and when he is in need.Together we stand and we will wage war on the darkness that dwells in the souls of man and demon.

Redemption-chapter 85

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt,but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand:Today my best friend slapped me in the face.

They kept on walking, until they found an oasis,where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him.After he recovered from the near drowning,
he wrote on a stone:Today my best friend saved my life.

The friend, who had slapped and saved his best friend, asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now, you write on a stone, why?"

The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us,we should write it down in sand, where the winds of forgiveness can erase it away, but when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.


Sumathi sat down and then looked at rudran and renuka ' something just happened.I am not sure what it was but some strange and soft hand touched my mind and i feel much better now.'

She sat next to Buddha and then looked at both of them 'ma'am,the worse thing about what i went through was the shame and a feeling that i was cursed and that it was my fate that this evil had to happen to me.But now i am filled with a rage,an anger and it is a righteous anger and i want to fight back and live not just for me but for those who have suffered like me.I feel more clean now and my body and mind seems to have recovered from some deadly disease.Thank you,both of you for coming and thank you Buddha.'

Sumathi threw her arms around the huge dog and hugged it tightly and then she hurriedly looked up at Renuka ' ma'am,you have come to see me and i guess you will be going to see kavya after this.If,you don't mind,i would like to come along with all of you to see her.'

Sumathi's mother who had gone in to the kitchen to make some coffee had just come out with the cups when she heard her daughter saying that she wanted to go see kavya,the other girl who had suffered the same fate as her child.

Totally panicked,she placed the tray on the small,worn out table in the sitting room and grabbed sumathi ' what are you saying? I am sorry but i cannot agree to this.You need more time to recover before you start to go out again and surely that day is not right now.'

But the poor lady had not seen or felt what had taken place just a few minutes earlier out in the sitting room.But she felt it and saw it the moment she looked into sumathi's eyes for it was a different person,the child she had known before the terrible incident who now stood before her with a burning light in her eyes and a strange glow in her body.

She hugged her daughter tightly and somehow the tears from her eyes seemed to drain the pain in her soul.

Sumathis mother turned to renuka ' I don't know what you said or did but i thank you for it.It is not only that my child looks better but i feel the same way too and even this house looks brighter and better.Thank you so much.'

She then looked at sumathi and smiled and turned to renuka ' if my daughter wants to go with you to see kavya,then i am also coming along for more than anyone else i know how much a parent suffers when she sees her child going through a terrible trauma.Maybe i can talk and heal kavya's parents and show them that things can only get better.'

Both sumathi and her mother looked at renuka for an answer who in turn looked at rudran who smiled gently ' I think i agree with sumathi's mother for seeing them both will surely make things better.'

Rudran hadn't spoken until now but for the hello he had whispered when he had met sumathi's mother at the entrance of the house but now hearing his voice,sumathi looked at him ' sir,have we met before for your voice sounds very familiar.'

Rudran looked at her and then at renuka 'no sumathi,we have not met before this evening.'

Sumathi continued to stare at rudran and then she looked at renuka ' ma'am, i am absolutely certain i have met this person before this.I don't know why i didn't recognise him when both of came in but i surely recognise his voice now.'

Buddha turned and stared at rudran and it was as if he whispered ' oops,sorry boss.I think the energy i transferred to heal her has kind of sharpened her senses and memory.She recognises you she heard your voice subconsciously when you rescued them and spoke to renuka before leaving.'

Rudran and buddha stared at each other and then rudran looked at renuka who kind of understood what was happening.

Renuka asked sumathi and her mother to sit down ' This is rudran and he is the person who rescued us from those monsters.You recognise him probably because you heard his voice telling us it is going to be okay.'

The words of renuka felt like thunder in the ears of sumathi and her mother and sumathi looked at rudran 'sir,if you rescued us,then who attacked and killed those bas***ds.'

But rudran remained calm and still and sumathi looked into his eyes and spoke in hushed tones ' you.you killed those animals and saved us.'

B-It is as you thought.So why the doubts.

A-But why are the characters of the previous story appearing in this thriller.
B- why not?

A- But the previous story was kind of based on ancient kingdoms and after many twists and turns it became a science fiction story,with the hero taking off into space.
B-I am sorry,but what is the question here.More importantly what is the point you are trying to make.

A-Come on,Azhagan and avini,then sadashivam and now Buddha has come into the story.Not that i am complaining,but cant this story be a straight thriller.
B- you mean like in the movies and stories which give what the viewer and reader wants and wishes.Sorry.

B-I meant if a writer cannot let his imagination run wild and take the readers along with him for a wild ride then what is the point in writing again and again.

A-But it is unpredictable and sometimes irritating and frustrating.
B- but that is much better than cliched and same old straight story and charcters.

A-so what now
B-well,i will try to make it a straight thriller.But the hero is blessed with so much powers and incredible strength that he needs tough situations to reveal what he can do and cannot do.And in all that he has to remain rooted to humanity,be a good son,be a good lover and be a good grieving brother who is still searching for his killers.

A-So,more romance,more action and more
B-more magic and paranormal scenes.

B-Well,he is the last surviving chola descendant and they have been carrying this grudge against the descendants of Azhagan.

Renuka sat quietly in the front seat staring out of the window as the setting sun was trying to whisper some message as its form sunk over the west and yet its golden aura held sway over the skies and the rays of gold and orange shot out like arrows aimed towards the east.

There were many questions that were racing around in her mind and as if rudran could read her thoughts,his hand which was shifting the gears,now gently held and squeezed her hand as if to tell her to be calm and now was not the time for questions and worries.

In the rear seat sumathi had her hands around Buddha,while he sat calmly and i his usual poise as if he was meditating with his eyes wide open.(is that possible.)

Buddha worked his aura and magic in the house of the other student who had been the second victim of the terrible incident.Kavya felt an uplifting of her spirit and she felt something leave her,that which had haunted her the past few weeks.

It was nearly seven in the night and rudran and renuka were driving back after dropping sumathi and her mother back in their home.

Renuka ' we are having dinner at the commissioners house,aren't we?'

Rudran nodded ' yes,but i think we are going to be late.By the time i drop you,go home,have a bath and come back and pick you up.well that is going to take some time.Maybe i should call the commissioner and inform him that we are going to be a little late.'

' i have an idea.if i could have a bath at your place instead of going all the way to my place maybe that will help and then we can be on time for dinner.'

Rudran remained silent hearing renukas words and she nudged him ' hello,is that red filling your cheeks a sign that even you can blush.But why are you blushing anyway?'

'okay.you can bathe in my house and we can leave from there.But remember i am not blushing.'

And he wanted to say something else but fell silent.

Renuka waited ' what'

Rudran shook his head ' nothing.nothing at all.'
