Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu

She waited, waited and then she dialed his number and it took nearly six rings before he answered and from the loud background music,Jeeva knew that Raman and his parents were still in the wedding hall.

She heard his voice, louder than ever before and she knew that he was having trouble in hearing her and knew that it would be more trouble for him to reply and with a naughty smile ended the call.

Raman smiled and instantly knew that she had ended the call because it would be inappropriate and nearly difficult to carry on their normal style of conversation, what with all the loud wedding music still going strong.

And then,Raman smiled as the whats app message tinkled and shone red on his screen, indicating messages and the smile on his lips spread even more and seeing his parents both chatting with known people who had come from trichy to attend the wedding,he opened the App and the message was ' I miss you,I love you,I need you.'

Raman slowly tapped in his reply ' yes to all the above and from me too.'

And then, the messages came in a flood and he marveled at her typing speed for he could not and doubted if he ever could match and reply to her at the same speed.

' Hi,how is it going?'

' going,going and still going.'

' have you had anything to eat?'

' not yet.The wedding just got over and the first round rush at the dining hall has just started and so me and my parents thought we would wait until the second round.'

' But,it is nearly 10.00 and i doubt if you had anything for breakfast.'

' It's okay, just this one day and it is no big deal.'

' so,what's news from the wedding hall?'

' Nothing great.Just another wedding although just being with my parents is something which is priceless and cannot be compared to anything else.'

The messages stopped for a whole minute and then jeeva asked what any woman would ask and should ask and that which most women dream of and yet here she was just asking.

' God,i can't wait to get married to you and make you mine officially.God only knows...'

' Raman knows.Your man knows and so why bring god into this for the poor guy must have his hands full with other things. But sweetie, you are mine and i am yours and let me tell you that as far as i am concerned,i am already married to you with every cell in my body and i live with you breathing your thought every second.'

Far away in the distance,in Broadway and in her cabin in K.K Enterprises,Jeeva took a deep breath of happiness and smiled in happiness and her eyes shone brightly with the love she felt for him.

' Me too Raman.Honestly,i get up every morning with you in my arms, imagining you gently waking me up with your lips, whispering to me rise and shine.I feel that you are in my lungs breathing for me and that you are now my whole heart, pumping blood and love all over my body.'

Jeeva watched as the words came across the screen ' i think we feel and have more than what married people will ever feel and share.Imagine how much more i am going to love you and cherish you once we actually start living together.'

' So,are you coming to the court today?'

' I am not sure about the court but i am very sure that i will be there waiting for you at the bus stop later this evening.'

' okay.great.i feel so much better.'

' i thought we could walk on the beach and sit by the waves for sometime.'

' sweet. But what about your parents and don't you want to spend more time with them.'

' No problem.I think my dad and mum have some plans of going to kanchipuram and some other temple nearby. And so,they will be busy with for the next two days, coming and going.

' raman, you are not going with them.'

' no,jeeva,i have too much work piled up and i have this very important case to handle and settle.I am talking about ashok mehta and his wife pramila's case and it is a konjam tricky situation and i have to really sit and work it out with my boss and my client. But my parents are cool and they know my work load.

Okay then baby, take care and lots of kisses and lots of love.see you soon.'

Raman typed ' bye sweetie' and slowly placed the mobile back in his pocket.
I have big hopes and big dreams, but that is because I know that kind of love exists. I know that a love that inspires and gets better with time exists because I've seen it. I've been inspired by it and I want it.

In every society some men are born to rule, and some to advise. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

And then, the time for lunch with VVIP Vijaya bhaskar came and the man himself came along with Nellaiappan and as one,the small group made it to the dining hall.

Raman noticed as Vijaya bhaskar gave a meaningful glance at mr.Nellaiappan who taking the cue requested the camera men and the photographers to give everyone a small break,a respite from all the flashes and attention and they gracefully acknowledged the request and in turn requested the minister's son for a small press meet after lunch and before he left the venue.

Vijaya bhaskar nodded and told them that he would spare a few minutes and then throwing his arm around Raman, entered the dining venue and stopped for a second to whisper ' politics, politics and it will always be politics.I tried my best but my dad refused to let me go abroad and so here i am neck deep in our state politics.'

Raman looked at Vijay with affection and respect ' your dad did the right thing and i as a citizen of this state will welcome you with open arms and vote for you when you contest in the coming elections and i hope soon, very soon you become what your dad could not and now dreams of that post for you .For i know your party is grooming you to become the next chief minister.'

Vijaya bhaskar stood staring at raman ' so you do keep in touch with what is happening in the political scene.'

Raman nodded ' Always and i am happy for you and i will be even more happier for this state when you rise and stand tall as the next leader of this great land, for today this land needs new, young and honest people to lead us all in a new and more wonderful direction than that has been done for the past few decades.'

Vijay looked at raman ' if that is your wish for me and for your state then why is that we are sitting in each other's chairs when it is men, great men like you that should be leading and guiding this state for it is right now in a real mess although we are trying to do our best with what we have and also with the central governments help.'

Raman smiled ' Vijay, you know me pretty damn well and you know that i am not cut out for such stuff and will never be,not in this life.'

Vijaya bhaskar nodded ' okay, but when the time comes i will call on you for your counsel and for your guidance and promise me that you will not refuse me.'

Raman ' i promise ' and then vijay taking out his mobile ' please, tell me your number' and quickly dialed the number and called him back and looking at raman ' that is my personal number which only my parents and sister have and now you have it.Please stay in touch.'

The lunch went off quietly and then the bride grooms parents requested Vijaya bhaskar to pose with their side of family and he got up looking at raman ' i suppose it is time for you to leave' and raman ' yes vijay,i have to be in court later this afternoon and have to go to my office before that.so yes,i have to leave.'

Both shook hands and vijay again hugged raman and said good bye and then again touched raman's parents feet in respect and shaktivel gently hugged vijay ' Iyya, you too are like my son now and thank you for giving us all this love and respect.'

Vijay looked at shaktivel and valliammai ' thank you and your words mean a lot to me,much more than all this status and limelight.thank you.'

Vijay looked at raman who nodded and left with his parents and an ordinary day had become an extraordinary one.

He stood patiently as the photos were clicked and videos were taken along with a million selfies and then walked towards the entrance where a dozen tv camera crews stood with their microphones extended and camera already rolling.

Vijay bhaskar looked at all of them ' okay, please ask your question and kindly keep it simple.'

The thanthi tv reporter raced ahead with her question ' sir,who was that gentleman who you spent so much time talking with and it appeared that both of you are very close, really close to each other.'

State cabinet minister Durai pandi arumugam's eldest and only son,Vijaya bhaskar smiled and looked at all of them ' That gentleman was my college senior,my dear friend,my savior and most importantly my elder brother who i never had.'

Pausing for a moment,he looked at all of them ' if people like him were in politics and were given the charge of caring for this state,i swear to you that this state and country will soon be Number one in this world.'

The maruti dezire sedan of Uber was slowly cruising towards saidapet and raman was seated in the front with his parents in the back seat.

After trying to control their curiosity for nearly ten to fifteen minutes,Valliammai burst out ' ram, what was all that about with mr.vijaya bhaskar?' and the uber driver turned sharply towards and raman and then glanced hurriedly at his parents ' sir, sorry.but are you talking about our future leader, the great vijaya bhaskar?'
and raman shook his head ' sorry, but we are talking about a family friend who shares the same name i guess.I am sorry to disappoint you.'

The driver launched himself ' varanum sir, iyya vijaya bhaskar mathiri neraya nalla allunga varanum.enough of all this corruption and rowdyism that this so called dravidian parties have been indulging in for these past 50 years or so.'

Raman kept quiet and both shaktivel and valliammai knew that there was a great story behind him and vijaya bhaskar and respecting their son remained quiet without asking any further questions.

Raman closed his eyes and thought back to the time, that fateful evening when he had fought single handedly against nearly eight men who had come to kill vijaya bhaskar and his sister Kavitha and he sighed in fear for he knew that if he had not been there then both would have been slaughtered and the reason was not only political but some deeper and darker feud.

Sitting in the plush leather seat of his bullet proofed Audi q4,Vijaya bhaskar took out the black I phone and dialed and hearing his sister's voice ' I finally met him and that too at the wedding hall and he is the same humble, kind and sweet person.Yes.i have his number and i will forward it to you.But kavitha, send him a message first and then call and talk to him.Please,okay.Bye.'

Vijaya bhaskar leaned back and placing his head on the head rest stared at the world outside and recollected how he and his sister after spending time in the library preparing for the coming exams had come out to the parking lot to get into their car and suddenly a gang of eight men armed with knives and other deadly weapons had come charging towards them and Raman happened to be coming out of the library at the same time and had saved them.He had pushed him and his sister into the library and had asked them to lock the doors from inside and also he had then locked the doors from outside and then just when he and his sister kavitha had feared the worst and feared for raman's life,he had stood with a smile and effortlessly thrashed and broken the arms and legs of most of the eight men and just like that it had finished. But raman had hit one guy so badly that the man had fainted and carrying him and placing him in their car, raman had asked vijay to call his father who had then been the hand loom minister and everything had been taken care off and also hushed up.

The attack had been launched by one of their own partyman who had lost the minister's berth and so had decided to use some goonda's from another state to kill vijay and his sister kavitha and eventually kill his parents too.

Raman, and only because of raman he and his family still lived and yet the man who was responsible for all that had gone on with his life without even a backward glance. But he had requested in very strong words to be left out of the matter and had warned that he might be forced to leave the college if his name was given any publicity.

Publicity, not that he needed any of it for his exploits in Judo had already made him famous in college as he was the reigning state champion and also one of the top contenders in the national level and everyone had been sure that he was soon going to be crowned champion and then it was on to the world championships. But all that had come to naught when raman had broken his leg badly and had been bed ridden for many months and after that he had slowly faded out and had taken a back seat status and remained in the shadows.

But for vijay and kavitha, raman remained their savior and guardian and somehow vijaya bhaskar knew that their paths would cross again and he hoped that he would be able to repay the debt though it was one which could never ever be repaid not in this birth and countless other ones.

"I have a duty to speak the truth as I see it and share not just my triumphs, not just the things that felt good, but the pain, the intense, often unmitigated pain. It is important to share how I know survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain. Audre Lorde

"Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well. Theodore Roosevelt

It was nearly 12.30 p.m when the Uber car dropped off raman and his parents at his place in saidapet and raman paid the driver the cash and thanked him for his service.

The driver thanked him and then got out of the car and from across the small expanse of the roof of the car, looked teasingly at Raman ' sir, please.I was right and it was the same vijaya bhaskar who you and your parents were talking about, wasn't it sir?'

Raman shrugged ' maybe. But how does it matter who comes and goes in politics?'

The driver slightly taken aback ' sir,the person who you are talking about could be our next chief minister and importantly he is young, dedicated and highly educated. He will make a great chief minister for our state sir.'

Raman's face changed expression very subtly and if the driver had been someone who knew him well,he would have sensed and noticed the anger, irritation and frustration in his face as he looked down for a second,as if he was searching for something and then looking up ' You drive this car.You work hard. You live a quiet and decent life and pay your taxes on time. You live a calm, clean and crime free life. So,in the end,how does it matter if Vijaya bhaskar becomes chief minister or if someone else becomes the chief minister.

Please remember, that the government is by the people, for the people and yet it is not for the people.'

The driver smiled ' sir,you speak so well and so intelligently and yet we don't have people like you to lead us and watch over us.Honestly, people like you should be in politics.'

Raman laughed ' funny, but when the time for election comes, most of the public will pocket money and gifts from all parties including the booze and biriyani that will be cooked by members of the ruling party and trucks and lorries will be used to help people to go to the voting booths and then there if even if there is an young.educated person who the public know will make a difference, you will still say " tamilanda' and cast your vote for either AIADMK,DMK or some caste based party. And then when the elected party starts looting, land grabbing, you will crib, cry and howl that there are no good people to lead this state.

Where were this people and what were they thinking off when they sold their souls for money, gifts and booze and where were this people when they stood and cast their votes for popular and familiar party people, rather than choosing somebody new and giving young people a chance to prove themselves.'

The driver lost for an answer, looked at raman and shaking his head ' i only wish i knew why and what makes people do all these things?' and Raman calmly ' when you know the answers and when the situation changes, then people like me will give politics a chance.okay sir.'

Raman looked at him parents ' i am going in for a quick shower and then it is off to work.'

Valliammai with a knowing look ' only work and so that means you will be back early for dinner' and raman realising what and where she was leading to ' madam, your youthful days are over and you made a boy baby.so,let me enjoy my youth and romance as long as it lasts.'

Shaktivel looked at his wife ' Correct, enga valli madam.why are you troubling my son with all this police style enquiries.'

Valliammai ' both you men are such bullies.I was just making fun and honestly i was about to ask you if you could bring jeeva along when you come back for i kind of miss her and wanted to spend more time with my daughter-in-law before i return to trichy.'

Handing his mobile to his mum,Raman placed a soft peck on her cheek ' call her yourself and invite her' and headed off to the bathroom.

Ten minutes later, dressed in his advocate clothes and carrying his black coat over his left arm,Raman came out and looked at his mum.

' i spoke to her ram and jeeva said that she will try and will confirm after she gets back home.'

Raman nodded ' so that's that.Okay my sweet folks,i am off and i will see you later tonight.Bye.'

Watching raman leave,Shaktivel turning to his wife ' idiot, isn't it obvious that they both are meeting up later this evening and probably will reach home late and it is also obvious that raman will walk her home and say hi to jeeva's folks and only then return home.so,where will jeeva have the time to come and join us for dinner.'

Opening the Jannal of Jannal oram -1

If at sometimes or many a time, the topics that are spoken about, preached about in the story Jannal oram come across as too much, then please forgive me for the writer, that is me,faithfully yours feels that nothing is too much in todays society.

Corruption, state sponsored violence aside ,a massive chasm, abyss seems to have developed between the democratically elected government and the very people who voted and elected for it.

Everyday, new parties seem to be springing up and old parties are breaking up and it all seems like a rooster running around with its head cut off.

So much unrest,so much distrust,so much violence against women and public and yet no answers and all the while the country seems to be functioning but like an engine running on fumes and vapors.

This is largely because of the hard working people who go to work tirelessly, head bent and totally focussed on duty and family and have kissed the thoughts of a friendly government goodbye.

Actor vijay's Mersal released on october the 18th,on diwali day in the south and as always with the his films, people have begun to protest about this and that and also the very mention of GST.

The protest is mostly by the state BJP leaders and my immediate question and poser to them and all others is,that why are you protesting a film that has been censored and given permission by the central government which is lorded over by the very same BJP that you are a part off.

So,you mean the central ruling party thinks one thing and the state BJP party thinks another or is it some kind of plot wherein the central govt has passed on the dirty buck for the state bjp to handle while they act as if they are in the dark about the whole thing.

Take Taj mahal for instead, one BJP MLA says that the taj mahal is an insult to the nation while the very state's chief minister says that the taj mahal is a national symbol and treasure.

Mixed signals and mixed and muddled govt do not make for a stable and economically stable nation, methinks.

To be continued

By the people, for the people and in the end,not for the people

The lok sabha elections and the state govt elections come around every five years and sometimes sooner than later and the reasons are as always, Betrayal, fallout over seat sharing, fallout over ministerial berths or prime money making post and so on and so forth and as you can clearly see,it has everything to do with money and power.

Power corrupts and nothing corrupts like absolute power.

The tale of congress before Modi came to power is actually the story of the head, sonia gandhi and the tail,mr.manmohan singh.I say Modi came to power, rather than BJP came to power because that is the simple truth.

With corruption under the two previous terms of the congress,India screamed for an answer,a relief and although we have been warned to be careful for what we wish for,yet India wished it and well,Modi came to power.

The crown was placed with great trust and with a lot of guilt in every indian's soul as if they wanted to self inflict punishment and also with hope to cleanse the country of all the ills plaguing it,importantly corruption.

And as expected,Mr.modi began his cleansing process but with a heavy hand and also armed with the many arms of hindutva.

But we also not only made Mr.Modi the prime minister of India but also crowned him the king of this country and under a king's rule, his word is final and there is no debating or arguing against it and all protests will be quelled with a heavy hand.

Today, many of my fellow hindus who thought and believed that Modi would do a good job are now secretly cursing and hoping that congress comes back in the next elections and it might just happen.

I am proud to share with you that today, the majority of Indians believe in freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom to eat and wear what they want more than a corrupt free nation.

What is the point of having money when you cannot eat what you want?

what is the point of having power when you cannot say, write, paint or sing what you feel like?

What is the point of being an indian when hindus and muslims are seen differently?

Modi,BJP,RSS,Shiv sena and all other rabid religious factions are fanning the flames of hatred and chaos and with modi not doing anything to control his goons and dogs,it means he is sending a message that he is okay with it.

So the tail is wagging and with the permission of the head.

Mr.modi, economy, demonitization, black money alone do not make up this nation but thought, speech and freedom and harmony is what will drive a country forward and to greater heights.

For example, the secret to a happy marriage,a happy relationship is simply letting the other breathe and be whatever he or she wants to be.No manipulation or twisting, strong arm tactics.

So,Prime minister modi, please let us breathe and exist as indians in this land regardless of faith and religion and political affiliations.

So,please spare the stick and use the carrot for the nation is bent over in pain and injury and now with hindutva cropping all over india and raising its ugly head in all walks of life from movies, songs, art galleries, paintings and journalism,it is time for you to stand up and be a prime minister for everybody and not only for those that support you.

A small love story

He loved her and he had loved her from the day he had first laid eyes on her.She liked him but that was it.He waited, waited and waited patiently and then when it was too much of both pain and pleasure for him to bear,he told her, confessed his feelings and thoughts about her.

She looked at him, strangely ' what love are you offering? what is this love that you speak about?'

He lost his voice. He was lost in his love for her and he had lost the train of thoughts that had led him to this point and junction of life.

She looked at him first with patience and then impatience followed his silence and their silence and she sighed 'is that all you have to say and sadly with no words but silence.'

He looked at her and softly whispered ' with you permission' and gently took her right hand and placed it over his chest and then asked her ' can you feel it? can you sense the beats nay the thuds' and she nodded ' yes, your heart beats so frantically. But why does it beat so ?'

He looked at her ' see me,hear me now that you have felt me.'

My heart beats frantically for it is cage in which a love bird has been locked up,anchored with heaviness for many a year now.It beats frantically because it is trying to break free and fly to you and anchor itself in your heart. This bird in my chest is my love for you,my thoughts about you,my music for you and these words are their lyrics.'

She stood still, absorbing and a blush filled her cheeks and shyly she mumbled ' I have never felt this way before and here i am as your words and as your love make me feel so much and so powerful.I want to flap my arms as if they would turn into wings and fly into the clouds for your love gives me the power to do that.'

He smiled shyly ' i have been doing that for many a year now.But now we can fly together.'

Redemption 222

"When you read, don't just consider what the author thinks, consider what you think."

In the small, safe and secure cottage in the heart of the chennai defence academy, the old lady who sat in the chair and spent most of her time in that chair looking out of windows suddenly sat up and whimpered in fear and in the dim light,Babu got up from his cot and ran towards her ' amma, amma, are you all right? do you want some water to drink?'

The lady looked at Babu and who looking back into her eyes was fascinated to see a sparkle in them and a smile on her lips, when normally she would be lost with a vacant and faraway look. But here strangely and miraculously, she looked as if she recognised him and his heart leapt out of its anchor in his chest and yet only the essence of the heart, the soul leapt out ' madam, madam, amma do you see me? do you know who i am?'

She looked at him ' Bhairav.Babu,Bhairav is coming home' and then she began to sob and cry loudly and looking at him pathetically ' Rudran is gone and Bhairav is here.I have lost one of my sons all over again.'

And then, like lights being switched off,Babu watched sadly as the twinkle and lights that had sparked briefly slowly fade away and leaning her head back, she went back to staring at the windows with vacant eyes buried in a vacant and disease ridden brain.

Babu did not know what to make of this sudden and startling change for it had been nearly 20 years since she had spoken normally and now in the grip of advanced stage of Alzheimers, the doctors had advised his master Rudran that nothing more could be done and that what was left now was for her to be looked after well.

Babu stood behind her, gently stroking her head ' hold on madam for Rudran will soon be home and then he will take care of everything, including you and me.'

He too stood behind her, staring at the night outside the windows and whispered ' Rudy, please come home.'

Far away in the dark forest of shikarpur,The huge leopard looked up in the direction of the flames that leapt to the sky as if angels were bouncing and flying back to the arms of heaven and creator and placed a paw on the the friend and stranger ' We have to move and i mean right now.'

Bhairav opened his eyes and looked at buddha ' i am finding it difficult to co-ordinate my thoughts and actions and this is evoking fear and rage that i feel is not safe for me and for you and for everything around me.we are safe here my leopard friend and so let me rest and try to heal myself before we move again.'

The leopard urgently ' listen,i don't know what is going on with you although i sense you are badly injured but it is not fatal and my senses tell me that you are going to outlive this injury. But we need to move now because the hunters will come and they are hunting for both you and me.'

Then in the distance, the leopard heard the barks and howls of large dogs and knew that if they did not move now, then it would be too late and in the end, buddha knew that he would not walk away and would only die fighting with the dogs and the bullets that would be fired upon him.

The leopard gently used its paw and lifted the man's chin and stared deep into his eyes with its own golden eyes ' my master,my friend,we need to move now' and not getting any response the leopard suddenly grabbed the man behind his neck and quickly began to drag him away and the man did not protest for he was unconscious and for deep in his brain, new connections and new wirings were being built and generated.

Redemption 223

An attack on a ministers son is an attack on the entire government and regardless of the nature of the persons involved in the attack, the law enforcement agencies come together as one and hunt down the people who were responsible for the attacks.

The shikarpur police team,a battalion of delhi special commandos,The state's reserve police force were all assembled around the estate and they all were now under the single command of the delhi DGP Maninder singh.

The dgp along with other higher officials stood watching the villa burn down and soon the pillars caved in with a huge noise and everybody jumped back in fear.

Dgp Maninder singh was a veteran police officer and a man who knew how to do his job well and importantly do it quickly to get results.

He stood,an imposing figure and the grey in his beard and side burns told the officials standing before him that this was a man who had all most seen all kinds of crimes and had witnessed all kinds of killings and had taken those cases head on and now stood victorious after solving all of them.

' The villa of Mr.som lal,the cabinet minister's son is very badly damaged and we cannot enter it until it has been cleared by the fire department and importantly there will not be much evidence to be found for it will all be badly damaged and burny beyond recognition. So,we have to move ahead with what we have on hand and know about.'

Turning to the Inspector and his team of policemen who were standing guard in front of the villa, ' Inspector Patel, please tell us what you know, quickly and briefly for i need to start making my moves in finding the culprits behind this.'

Inspector Patel, a man with nearly 30 years of service and a pretty decent police officer looked at the DGP and other higher officers ' sir,me and my team of five men were outside the gate in our usual place and at first we heard screams of leopard, leopard and we wondered what was going on.'

DGP Maninder raised his hand and Inspector Patel paused ' why didnt' you go in and find out what is happening and see for yourself what this threat was and if it was really a leopard that had somehow entered the premises.'

Inspector patel looked down uncomfortably at the ground and then gathering courage from his honor and nearly faultless character ' sir, there are certain things here which i cannot talk about for fear of repercussions for me and men.'

DGP Maninder singh growled ' i will take full responsibility for your statements so feel free and bravely state the facts without holding anything back.'

Inspector patel's lip lifted sarcastically on its left side in a smirk and it did not escape the eyes of the Dgp who loudly barked ' something funny in what i just said,Patel.'

Inspector Patel shook his head ' i might be just an inspector and you might be the top most ranked police officer but we are all just employees and pawns in the hands of our masters who sit in delhi on their thrones.

' sir,to answer your question,we could not enter inside because the gate is locked from inside and can only be opened from the security cabin where all the equipment is located. We are just watchmen here and mute witnesses to all the crimes and crap that happens inside on nearly a daily basis.

We waited for just a few minutes and then we tried to open the gate but that was impossible because of the electric fence that is there and even we are not allowed inside, without permission. So we tried calling the people inside and then stood helplessly hearing gun shots and screams of violence and as the villa began to burn down and burnt down the controls and only then we were able to go inside. But it was too late and then i made the calls to all of you.'

DGP maninder stood absorbing the information and then quickly looked up at all his Assistant commissioners ' i want all of you to split up into groups of twenty and want all of you to be fully armed.take your teams and spread out in a circle and i bet we will find something or at least some evidence of who attacked mr.som lal.Get going this moment.'

His mobile phone rang and he saw it was the union minister mr.devi lal himself and DGP maninder hurriedly ' hello sir' and the minister softly whispered ' how is my son? is he very badly injured?'

DGP Maninder froze just for a second ' sir,i am sorry but the scene is a total chaos and the whole place is burnt beyond recognition and i am sorry that i am unable to confirm anything right now.'

Union minister devi lal changed his voice and the full authority of his post now reflected in the threatening tone of his voice ' DGP,please don't bullshit me with your police jargon and technical stuff.Just answer my question and tell me how my son is,alive or dead?'

Dgp maninder ' sir,we have located about ten to twelve bodies, burnt to a crisp and any identification is possible now only by their dentals and DNA testing.so i repeat that i cannot answer your question at this moment sir.I am really sorry sir.'

Union minister devi lal softly whispered ' okay,i understand. Now please speed the process and use all the resources that is available to the dept and if you should encounter any hurdles from any other dept, call me on this number and i will sort it out.Thank you Dgp.'

Assistant commissioner Ashraf hussein looked at his boss and DGP Maninder turned to him ' not bad for i thought for a second that all our heads were going to roll and then transferred all over to some god forsaken places and live a stray dogs life.'

Raman turned the ignition and his aging but still faithful Hyundai Santro car fired up immediately, its four cylinder engine purring smoothly like a cat and he nodded in respect and reflected on Tata and its poor products such as the Indica and Nano that most of the public called " vibrating tin cans."

His mobile tinkled and steadily increased its volume and insistence and Raman picked up and answered ' good afternoon jenny' and jenny aka jennifer replied ' hey boss, when will you be coming in?'

Raman informed her that he was on the way and that he should reach the office in about half an hour or so and jenny said that the boss wanted to see him about something important and that too right away.

Raman drove towards Egmore, wondering what was going on and cursed himself for not asking jenny, what the important topic was and then let the stress and matter wander away for he was not a person who dwelled too much on things which had happened and which were going to happen.

Behind him,in his house, his mum Valliammai looked at his dad Shaktivel ' listen,i am thinking of going to the temple today evening and i thought i would drop in and say hi to Jeeva's parents.'

Shaktivel ' okay.Nice thought and yes we should spend a little more time with them for god knows when we will be coming back again to chennai.'

Raman parked his car and getting out quickly walked into the air conditioned confines of Rangachari and Associates and Jenny looking up at him from her table raised her pen holding hand and pointed the tip towards the corridor and then meant ' straight to his den' and Raman placing his coat and man bag on his table walked quickly towards the office of his boss and knocking softly entered the room and found it already occupied by his boss, his daughter rohini and surprisingly his own client Mr.Anwaruddin.

Seeing Anwaruddin,Raman fearing the worst sat next to him ' sir,are you okay.Is everything all right?'

Krishnaswamy iyer looked at his daughter Rohini and both exchanged glances of approval that raman's instincts were to first serve the client and one who needed him most.

Anwaruddin clasped raman's hands ' everything is okay my son and i don't know what happened or how it happened but i know it is because of some magic spell that you cast on this case that all my troubles are over and me and my family can now breathe in peace.'

Raman puzzled ' i am sorry but anwar sir,can you please explain what happened and when it happened?'

Anwaruddin looked at raman ' just a couple of hours ago.I was in my small office inside my factory when Mr.krishnaswamy iyer himself walked through my doors and then he apologised to me for everything over a cup of coffee and told me that the case he had filed against me would be withdrawn first thing tomorrow morning.'

Raman leaned back in his chair and then with a look of shock and pleasant surprise he asked Anwaruddin what had happened and how this had become suddenly possible.

Anwaruddin shook his head ' i don't know raman sir.But then it did not stop there and he give me the biggest shock of all when he proposed a marriage alliance between his son and my daughter and i was too shaken and frozen to react and all i could do was shed tears and nod mutely my acceptance.'

Raman looked at his boss with his eyebrows arched in 'what is happening?' expression and then sat still trying to make sense of the whole thing and then he realised that whatever had happened, had happened in the wedding hall that they all had taken part earlier that morning.

Krishnaswamy iyer looked at raman ' any clues or answers to this sudden turn of events.'

Raman decided not to say anything or shed light on the situation and instead with a smile ' i guess there is a god and he does work miracles although it is only now and then.'

Rohini ' raman, why only now and then?' and raman looking at all of them ' well,i only wish god had worked his miracles yesterday and an old lady's life might have been spared and saved instead of her ending it with her own hands.'

Looking at Anwaruddin ' sir,i am really happy that things have worked out well in the end. This whole case began with a good man being angered and feeling a sense of betrayal but then the man himself has realised that it is life and circumstances that led to this love affair between his son and your daughter and that you had nothing to do with it.Good, very good sir and congratulations.'

Anwaruddin with wise eyes filled with experience looked at Raman ' sir, allah and all gods work miracles but through their angels and workers and since i believe that, you are angel,a guardian angel and i know in my soul that it is because of you, only because of you this miracle has happened.'

Looking at raman and the other two ' i will come over tomorrow morning and settle my bill but raman sir, please allow me to gift you something,a small token of my appreciation and gratitude.'

Saying this he took a slim envelope and placed it in raman's hands and then wished all of them a good day and quietly left the room.

Father and daughter looked at Raman who opened the envelope and took out a cheque which was made out in his name for the sum of one lakh rupees.

Raman smiled and gently placed the cheque on the table and looking at krishnaswamy iyer ' sir,i cannot accept this cheque sir.It is just too much and i just appeared three times in the court for this case.'

Rohini got up and came and sat opposite to raman ' once, twice or thrice and it really does not matter but this is a token of your clients appreciation and you will hurt him badly if you refuse it.Accept it and also accept the good work that you have so obviously done in closing this case.'

Krishnaswamy iyer looked at raman ' ram,i know that there is more in this case than you are letting on but that aside,i agree with rohini and you should accept the gift. But if you find it hard to justify the amount for your legal appearance then accept it as a marriage broker for you have brokered a friendship and an alliance between both these families.'

"The truly wise are meek. Yet being small and meek do not make one weak. Arming oneself with true knowledge generates strong confidence and a bold spirit that makes you a lion of God. The Creator does not want you to suffer, yet we are being conditioned by society to accept suffering, weak and passive dispositions under the belief that such conditions are favorable by God. Weakness is not a virtue praised by God. How could he desire for you to be weak if he tells us to stand by our conscience? Doing so requires strength. However, there is a difference between arrogance when inflating your ego, and confidence when one truly gets closer to God. One feels large, while the other feels small. Why? Because a man of wisdom understands that he is just a small pea in a sea of infinite atoms, and that in the end we are all connected. And did you not know that the smaller a creature is, the bolder its spirit? Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

There are some tamil songs that touch and move me not only with the voice, melody but along with great lyrics. And the end result is music that is in my opinion the whispers of god himself.
